Just a quick update to bring the public branch to the same level as the current beta...

  1. Updated the helicopter A.I. to improve their position holding when in a hover. This was one of the few areas that I hadn't upgraded to use a PID controller and now they will position hold a lot better and this improves various things such as picking up and dropping off sling loaded cargo as well as landing. I've left it reasonably loose so they don't hold position rigidly - there is a little bit of give.

  2. Updated the waypoint sequence for picking up and dropping of sling load cargo so all helicopters should now perform much better and told to do these tasks.

  3. Modified the placement positions across the Central Libya map to ensure installations are not placed across terrain tiles as the terrain flattening system cannot cope with this! It also fixes a very very rare bug where the home helipad can't be found because it is actually on a different terrain tile to the base itself.

  4. Updated the "Fly By" camera code so that it should track much more smoothly now especially at lower frame rates.

Greetings Haunters!

It’s been a little while since the last update – my apologies! Better late than never, and this one is packed with fixes, new functionality, and quality-of-life improvements (with more on the way).

As a solo developer, the game has continued to grow in scale far beyond the original plan. That makes some features harder to implement or change, so at this stage my main focus will be on:

  • 🐛 Bug Fixes

  • ⚖️ Gameplay Balance

  • 🖥️ UI Improvements

  • 🏗️ Polish & Refinement + Achievements

That said, I’m not done adding new content! You can still expect:

  • 🎃 New scare traps

  • 🪦 New props & building items

  • 🛠️ Revisited versions of a few existing items I’m not fully satisfied with

Thank you all for your patience and continued support. Every bit of feedback, bug report, and idea helps make Horror Tycoon better. Also, I have decided that I will not be raising the price...too many things have been going up in price around the world. Ok, that's all for now.

Now, let’s get into the full list of changes!

ADDED
  • Pre-Fab Rooms: First set added (more themes coming soon).

  • In-game Owner’s Manual (Tutorial/Guide) to help new and existing players (WIP – press F9).

  • Keyboard arrow key bindings (Left/Right) for camera movement.

  • Guests now buy food/drink when passing concessions, providing small revenue boosts.

  • Part List on item details menu – shows required parts, color-coded (green = owned, red = missing), with store icons for quick reference.

  • Voice lines added for Body Disposal Office.


CHANGES
  • Body Disposal Employees:

    • Now hired/fired via the Services menu.

    • Can be upgraded, increasing movement speed.

    • Will wave at you when garbage bins are full.

  • Maybe A Slice of Pie building now speeds up body disposal; higher levels = faster processing.

  • Soul Meter:

    • Button now requires only 10 souls to activate.

    • Does not reduce your soul count.

    • Resets until another 10 souls are obtained.

  • Breakdowns take longer before occurring.

  • Starting modes have increased starting money and fear reputation.

  • Guest waves now include more guests.

  • Object movement shortcut: Press M key with an item selected to move it (cooldown still applies if a wave is active).

  • Guest Exit animation updated – guests now run to the exit.

  • Item scroll size reduced by 20%.

  • Power Areas now show a yellow grid when placing items.

  • Part Names renamed for easier searching and readability.

  • Collisions in the Laboratory and The Witche’s adjusted so guests no longer get stuck.

  • Kitchen renamed correctly to The Witche’s.

  • Starting area now contains 1 garbage bin; other levels vary by bin count.

  • Police investigations now include random scare traps if no crime is found.

  • Customer Service Events:

    • Adjusted to occur more frequently, especially when upgraded.

    • Now correctly add money to player totals.


FIXES
  • Save/Load System:

    • Major stability fixes – saves no longer vanish, delete randomly, or fail to spawn placed items.

    • Deleting a save slot no longer closes the entire save window.

  • UI/Animations:

    • Fixed hover animations on main menu and difficulty select menu.

    • Fixed build item filters not resetting properly.

    • Reduced item scroll responsiveness issues.

  • Police AI:

    • No longer investigates when the game is paused.

    • Fixed officer not returning to vehicle.

  • Sandbox Mode: Locked items no longer appear.

  • Body Disposal Employee:

    • Feet clipping fixed.

    • Sliding across floor fixed.

    • Blood cleanup animation fixed (no longer plays after leaving).

    • Office now respawns an employee after being sold.

    • No longer becomes confused when bins are empty.

  • Guest Behavior/Levels:

    • EXIT sign no longer appears above guests scared to death.

    • The Lost Lands level is now accessible.

    • Fixed spawn locations and guest pathing in The Forest – guests no longer get stuck.


KNOWN ISSUES
  • In-game manual is still WIP (press F9).

  • Police AI may still behave strangely (under investigation).

  • Placing Body Disposal offices may cause a slight 1–2 second stutter issue has been identified but will take time to fix.

  • Soul Meter functionality is not yet implemented. It fills with souls but pressing the button has no effect (planned future feature).

  • After loading a save, the wave timer may not display until a new wave begins.

"The next update will be a major update that significantly changes gameplay. We cannot predict the exact update time, but we expect all of this to be completed within few months."

Assistance System

"There have been requests for us to hire Henry as a permanent assistant, so we're moving him to help players and adding other assistants as well."

What will be included:

- Ability to purchase and upgrade assistants

- Each assistant will have their own perks

Weapon System

"Our game doesn't have enough variety yet, so we want new gameplays, and one of them is weapons."

What will be included:

  • Weapon selection and upgrades

  • Each weapon will have its own perks to purchase in stages

Note: Upgrading Combat Status will no longer help with Damage and Attack Speed, but will be changed to weapon upgrades instead

Upgrade Status System

"We thought that accidentally clicking and upgrading a skill without being able to go back is unacceptable, so we've adjusted it to require confirmation clicks and show status changes as well."

What will be included:

  • Confirmation window for upgrades and changed status values

  • Same reason as above: upgrading Combat Status will no longer help with Damage and Attack Speed, but will be changed to weapon upgrades instead

Perk System

"And the essential thing that will help make our game more diverse and fun - we've prepared many perks for the next updates."

What will be included:

  • Perks for each weapon

  • Perks for each assistant

  • And other perks (keeping it secret for now, better to discover them yourself)

Input System & Tutorial

"We often had controller problems in the Tutorial, but we've fixed it so that when using a controller, Xbox buttons will be displayed"

What will be included:

  • Controller button instructions

Gacha Skin System

"We plan to make many skins, so if you just buy what you want, it might seem a bit boring, so let's randomize it instead."

(2) 部分机型如IQOO屏幕部分场景如龙蛇寨出现异常闪烁主要是因为对应硬件无法采样超过8层纹理贴图!我们将针对相关场景进行优化,大概需要2-3天(主要是改完后场景和底层渲染后打包需要大概15个小时)(大家如遇此类情况,可以将机型和移动异常的地点反馈给我们,感谢大家!)

(3) IOS 4G运存的机型还请各位大侠再给我们一点时间,万分感谢

Ara: History Untold v2.0 Revolutions Update Expands Historical Strategy Through Culture and Influence
Stardock introduces new Culture mechanics along with unique Nation-specific units, redesigned leader abilities, production improvements, and many other new changes

Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games, in partnership with Xbox Game Studios, announced Ara: History Untold – Version 2.0 today. Dubbed the Revolutions Update, version 2.0 is a massive expansion of new features and content.

Informed by community feedback, the Revolutions Update adds a new Culture and Influence System, gives each nation its own unique unit, gives greater player control while simultaneously reducing micromanagement, improves performance, includes a major AI revamp and much more.

Key Features:
  • Culture & Influence Systems: Cities gain a new quality of life category called Culture. Culture generates Influence, a new currency used to acquire cultural traits and expand territory through claims. This creates meaningful alternatives to military expansion.

  • Agitator Unit: Introduced with the Revolutions technology at the end of the Renaissance, Agitators can be sent into adjacent foreign regions to stir rebellion and, through Influence, bring those territories into your nation. This unlocks a second form of conquest in Act II: ideological subversion.

  • Per-Nation Units: Every civilization now commands unique historical forces, from Mongol Horse Archers to Japanese Samurai, adding tactical depth and flavor.

  • Leader Redesigns: Every leader has been reimagined with unique mechanics, traits, and abilities, ensuring more replayability and personality-driven diplomacy.

  • Priority & Quota Crafting System: Micromanaged production queues are replaced with smarter stockpile and priority controls, freeing players to focus on high-level strategy.

  • Adaptive AI: A more dynamic and personality-driven AI responds to player performance, making diplomacy, warfare, and resource management more challenging and believable.

  • Map Generation Overhaul: Realistic natural resource clustering plus new exclusivity rules modeling historical trade and competition.

  • High DPI UI & Visual Update: A sharper, scalable UI built for modern displays, with new accessibility and customization options.

  • Performance Boosts: Major engine optimizations deliver faster turns, smoother framerates, and reduced CPU usage.

Ara: History Untold offers a fresh take on historical turn-based strategy where players can build a nation that spans all of human history. Heavily inspired by player feedback, the v2.0 update delivers new and refined features that make the game more approachable for new and existing players.

“We’re really excited to bring Culture as a game mechanic into Ara,” said Brad Wardell, Chief Executive Officer for Stardock and Oxide. “The role of ‘soft power’ cannot be overstated.  While military conquest remains the most direct way of expanding one's territory, we really wanted to give players other means of expanding their control of the world. This is especially true in the late game when the explore and expand parts of the game have reached their maximum.”

Ara: History Untold v2.0 – "The Revolutions Update" is currently available as a preview right now.  It is scheduled for final release on September 24, 2025.
