We are just a few days away from launching Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey and we'd like to give you an update about the crazy amount of things that are happening at Valiant these days!

1. We released a brand new trailer!

We are very, very happy about it and really hope you will enjoy it!

2. We're hosting an online launch party & you are all invited!

On Sunday March 8th, the Valiant team will be at the office clicking Green Buttons and - we hope! - drinking champagne and *not* fixing bugs! We would love your company here on Steam, on our Facebook page, or on our Discord channel. We will be here for sure from 3pm to 6pm GMT+1 and hope to stream and maybe even give some keys! We will probably be quite stressed, so if you have some Funny Jokes and/ or Pictures with Cute Animals to send us, it would help a ton! Speaking of the Valiant team...

3. Did you see our Vlogs?

The Valiant team probably sounds bigger than it is. It's just me - Laura Bularca - and my friend Anna Jenelius, plus our artist Eva Sokolova who helped us as a freelancer and did all the art! We recently started a vlog about our games and life at Valiant (we even have an office dog!) and we aim to post a video every 2 weeks. Here is us rambling about the launch of Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey:

4. Do you want a Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey key?

Without you, Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey would not have happened. Your support, feedback and bug reports throughout the development of our episodes has been tremendously valuable - and we really cannot thank you enough!

So, if you bought Pendula Swing episodes valuing more than 16.99 USD/ EUR/ Pounds, we will gladly send you a complimentary Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey key. And even if you didn't - we have a contest on the Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey page, right here!

Thank you So Much!

Greetings, adventurers!

As we prepare for the launch of Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey, we are constantly improving everything! So we prepared a new patch for you! The number you ought to hunt in main menu is 2.9.7 and here is what it brings:

  • The Speakeasy ope its doors even wider! You can now always find ways of entering the VIP area of the Speakeasy, no matter where you are in the main storyline.
  • More of the cogwheels in the Factory are now moving. Very important.
  • Essential Valentines inspiration: Characters now close their eyes when they kiss. They say that you should never trust anyone that doesn't.
  • When you carry the Stray Cat in your backpack, it's now poking it's head out from the bag. Animal welfare is very important to us!
  • We've improved the audio overall, adding more ambiances and fixing some audio levels.
  • There is now one more step you have to complete in the Business District in order to access the Police Station - and a quest that follows.
  • The balloon has been updated visually, and is now much less rigid.
  • There are now trash cans in almost all indoor areas, which serve as containers you can empty your inventory in.
  • You can now have hens as companions. Go to Old Town and see who's willing to follow you!
  • All companions now have a pool of "cheer me up" lines, in case you're feeling a bit down.
  • The companions should also be less likely to get in your way in tight spaces. They're still misbehaving slightly, though, so you might have to wiggle around them sometimes. Sorry 'bout this - but have you ever tried training a hedgehog?
  • It's now possible to give flowers to more NPCs - most of the major ones, actually.
  • For the cinematic players, there's now an option in the Video Settings to remove the in-game HUD!
  • We've taken steps to placing all the interaction rings (the ones showing when you click the eye icon) in the correct location.
  • The UI has been improved, with for example new borders and some touch-ups on how the Travel Map works.
  • The issue with being unable to pick up the Note from Stranger in the Lecture Hall when your backpack is full has been solved.
  • It's no longer possible to participate in the Dwarven Ale AA meeting when you're on the floor beneath it.
  • There's been an issue where no dialogue options were shown in the lower part of the UI when talking to some characters. This should (fingers crossed!) no longer happen.
  • We have fixed some issues with dialogues, including the bar matron in the Old Town tavern not always giving you all dialogue options, the final confrontation with the mastermind.

Enjoy!
Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
On Valentine’s day, we want to wish everyone a wonderful celebration and to announce Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey!

Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey is a premium point & click adventure set in a fantasy version of the American Roaring 1920s. Starring Brialynne Donu Tenúm, the greatest and most celebrated dwarven hero of this world, the game features hundreds of unique characters and quests that unfold how the world evolved after the slaying of goblins and orcs went out of fashion.

Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey celebrates diversity by featuring a variety of relationships and characters, including LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities. Together, they weave a vibrant world inspired by the real Roaring 20s, but with the addition of classic fantasy tropes. The goblins are fighting for their right to vote, magic is frowned upon in favor of the newly invented antibiotics, and dwarven ale is prohibited, just to name a few examples.

Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey weaves together the 7 main areas previously available in episodes and that reflect iconic 1920s locations such as the Speakeasy, the newly invented Cinema, and the Department Store. Featuring an abundance of quests and options that require at least 7 hours of gametime to discover, this story-rich game allows you to solve a great mystery, date numerous interesting characters, talk to and adopt several pets, enjoy funny word puzzles, and much more.

We picked Valentine’s day in particular for this announcement, because the premium version of Pendula Swing is also filled with heart melting romantic features such as:
  • pick and give flowers to people you like
  • kiss your dates as many times as you want to - your affection will not go unnoticed
  • If you think flowers are passé, you can go for a relaxing fishing session
  • ...and if love is something you find tiresome, you can always replace it with pets: in Pendula Swing, you may have as many pets as you wish, as long as they want to follow you
Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey will arrive on Steam on March 8th, the International Women’s Day, to celebrate Brialynne. The game will cost USD/EUR 16.99, allowing you over 7 hours of adventurous, story-driven gameplay in a glamorous and turbulent 1920s-inspired world populated by elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs and other fantastic creatures besides humans.

As a special Valentine’s gift for our existing fans, all current Pendula Swing instalments have a permanently reduced price of USD/EUR 2.75 per episode. You will also be able to get your own Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey key through a few exciting events we are preparing!

In preparation for this release, we will announce more exciting features - wishlist Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey on Steam, keep an eye on our existing Pendula Swing Steam community hub, or simply follow us on social media to keep up with the news!

Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Greetings, adventurers!

We just pushed a new patch, and this time we really went overboard with naming: it's patch 2.8.6. Besides the usual fixes, we also added a tiny surprise for those of you super into Dwarven Ale trafficking. We figured it's necessary given the rapidly approaching holidays, y'know?

  • Police officers are now wearing badges. If they can't show a badge, they're not a cop!
  • Silent characters, such as statues and the petrified dwarf, now don't have a sound effect.
  • The audio for the whole game has been improved, with some new ambiances and similar.
  • You can now give the street buskers in Old Town some money.
  • There are now more instances where you can say something to someone only when under the influence of alcohol. Handle with care.
  • All achievements should now be possible to unlock properly.
  • The names of NPCs should now save and load properly, when you know them.
  • Animations and connected issues have been addressed.
  • There have been some problems with the collision with some items in the world. Should be better now!
  • The audio levels should now be saved properly if set in the main menu before starting a new game.
  • The map in the UI and the store page has been updated to match the new look of the map, and all unlockable episodes.
  • We have also fixed a great deal of typos, and other smaller dialogue issues.

We wish you a very very Merry set of Holidays!
Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Greetings, adventurers!

We just pushed a new patch, very creatively named 2.8.2. This patch fixes a bunch of things, and also adds two shiny new things. We are especially happy for the emergency ale support, since the holidays are coming and no one should be denied fast entry to the speakeasy! Here we go:

New Stuff
  • We've updated the Travel Map! The clouds we previously used to obscure part of it to hide where new areas would appear are gone, and now you can look at all of Duberdon. It even has trees!
  • Emergency Dwarven Ale support! In the new map, you should now always be able to go directly to the speakeasy (if you have the password), for easy access

Fixed Stuff
  • Some faulty achievements have been fixed.
  • We had an issue where your stack sizes would sometimes get messed up when you loaded the items in your backpack from save. This has now been fixed.
  • When buying/selling a whole stack of items, you should now always get/give the correct sum of money.
  • There was an issue where you couldn't get the end slides after finishing the game and clicking on the bed. Also, some things around town got reset to a previous state. This should no longer be the case.
  • We've had reports of tasks not getting removed from the journal when they're finished. Most should now be fixed, but please let us know if you still experience this.
  • Some players have experienced problems understanding how to finish quests, such as getting cleaning gear from Jack the Fly Boy. He's now more accommodating, and gives you more info. This goes for other people around town as well.
  • If you go into the storage room of the tavern in Old Town from the goblins' home next-door, you should no longer end up in a dark room with no way of escaping. Great news for those of you who are afraid of the dark!
  • When you give keys to people, they are now removed from your key chain. We appreciate key duplication services, but maybe don't give keys to the same apartment to all your friends (at least not without telling them)?
  • If you had View Interaction Items on (the eye on the left side of the screen) and entered a new area, they were placed on items that were currently disabled. This is no longer the case.
  • We found some more instances of people's skin and clothes clipping through each other. We've fixed some and will keep improving in future patches!
  • There was a problem with loading saves on Mac, which we fixed.
  • Some animations have been tweaked, and we'll keep improving them as we go along.
  • We've fixed a bunch of typos, and dialogue options that appear in the wrong place.

Known Issues
  • In rare cases, you don't get any options to say to an NPC when you talk to them, and the Leave Dialogue button doesn't pop into the lower part of the dialogue screen. We're working on finding out why this happens, and fixing it. For now, if you're missing something you should be able to say - try just exiting and talking to them again!
  • There are still some achievements that are making a fuss. We'll make sure you can get them as soon as possible!
  • We've had some reports in the Steam discussions and on Discord that we're still investigating. Rest assured, we're trying to fix everything you've reported!
Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Greetings, adventurers!

Bryalinne's saga in Duberdon is coming to an end. Episode 7, called "Facts & Artifacts", is the very last Pendula Swing episode, where Bryalinne discovers why her axe was stolen in the first place. Decisions, decisions, decisions - it is up to you to guide Bryalinne regarding what to do with the culprit. This episode also introduces the Industrial District, takes you to a very ...entertaining wake (don't steal all the booze!), grants you your very own apartment in the city and comes with a complete revamp of the Business District, too!

The latest version you should have in your Main Menu is 2.8.0.

New Stuff

  • New area - the Industrial District! The whole of Duberdon can now be explored! Episode 7 introduces the Industrial District, which is the last piece of the puzzle when it comes to the map.
  • Beard Fashion! In the Industrial District, you can go the barber and customize your beard. As you may know, dwarven ladies take great pride in the fact that they can grow beards!
  • A New Apartment! Spoiler Alert: You inherrit a brand new home! You can keep it and be the fancy lady who lives down town, but also donate this apartment to someone in greater need than you
  • Pet Party! You can now also have several companions following you at once. And you can pet them! Not all animals around town might be interested in following you, but it never hurts to ask!
  • Consumerist Improvements! The experience of using the Vendor and Container interfaces have been improved. As an example, you can now right click to deselect a stack in the Vendor view by right-clicking, you can put half a stack in a Container (also right-click), you can press the coins in your Wallet to buy or sell, etc.
  • Business Street Overhaul! We had our workers completely redesign the Business street, allowing for a lot more space and a better layout, out of the way of those steel horses!
  • Sleep time! Once you finish the main storyline, you can continue to explore. But if you feel Bryalinne is tired, you can take her back home and tuck her in to sleep in her bedroom. This will end Bryalinne's saga and trigger stories about what happened next to some of the characters you encountered along the way

Improved Stuff

  • There have previously been several issues with the skinning of character models, which means their clothes and body parts were sticking out though each other in ways that were neither comfortable nor fashionable. This should now be fixed in most places.
  • We have had reports of people losing important items when they had a full backpack and got a new one in a dialogue. We've tried making this less likely to happen, and if it still does, you can now ask for a replacement.
  • Sometimes, there have been issues in dialogues. Answers showing up that make no sense, the wrong answer being chosen, etc. This should no longer happen.
  • There have been issues reported about duplicated tasks in the journal, some tasks not disappearing when they're done, etc. The former should not happen anymore, and we hope all instances of the latter are fixed as well. Let us know otherwise!
  • There used to be some issues with some characters, such as the prospectors in the Garden, Joanna West, and Mr Silvergate, not always being where they should. We've had a long conversation with them, and they eventually promised to behave in the future.
  • We've also fixed typos and a bunch of other smaller issues. You know, the normal stuff.

Known issues

  • There appears to be some issues connected to finishing the game, and then keep playing. This concerns the game seemingly not remembering properly what you've done and not. We hope to have this fixed in the next patch.
  • The rings that help you find things you can interact with are sometimes placed incorrectly. We'll try to get all of them to the right place in the future.
  • We're aware that there's a range of typos and smaller bugs with dialogues. Next patch, it'll look better!
  • When you are wearing an accessory, such as your axe on your back, it doesn't always show up visually when you switch between areas. We're looking into it.
  • We have had at least one player experiencing a crash in the intro video. This can happen when the antivirus kicks in, so try disabling it temporarily.
Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Greetings, adventurers!

We just uploaded a new patch! We wanted to fix a lot of things and make certain characters behave better, but we also "accidentally" added a new feature, too. We added... diamonds, since they are a girl's best friends! We know Brialynne disagrees, besides, she has a diamond or 200 in her stash at home already. But should she fancy any shiny stuff from the Department Store, now she can!

New Feature!
  • You (well, the Brialynne in you) can now equip accessories! Why don't you head over to Silvergate's Department Store and see what they have in stock?

Now you can! You can buy every single jewel there is!

Fixes!

  • The mysterious dwarf, Aidan Barnes, has been a bit too mysterious, it seems. Some of you could not always find him. He promised he will now be where he needs to be, when he needs to be there
  • There have been some issues with dialogue UI animations when entering and exiting dialogues very quickly. Our dwarven workers have now finished the repairs, and initial reports look promising!
  • Audio settings should now save and load properly. This ones were fixed by the goblins, we think
  • The date with Joanna West should now progress properly (however, you can not finish it until Episode 7 is released). If there is such a thing as a proper date progress ?!
  • If you are wearing an outfit and taking another one from a wardrobe or trash can, it now ends up in your backpack instead of replacing your outfit. This is also our terribly elegant way of saying: yes, you can take an outfit from a trash can. This is what we like to call a bugfeature
  • And, as always, typos, items and other malfunctions in dialogues have been corrected

Problems!

Game development can be messy and we won't blame this one on any goblin or dwarf. Typically, problems are caused by the elves and humans, if you must know. Mostly, elves!
  • At some points, the dialogue options may appear empty even though the character has more to say. We're aware of the issue, and are trying to help them be less shy. Meanwhile, try talking to them again if you experience this!
  • We're aware that there are for example some issues with the skinning of some of the characters (clothes clipping through each other and the person's body). We're working on it!
  • If you manage to find your Legendary Axe and wear it on your back when entering your living room, you won't be able to put it on your wall. Which, of course, is an outrage!
  • Sometimes accessories aren't shown visually on the main character when going from one room to another. You can just put it in backpack and re-equip it to fix it temporarily, but of course we'll try and fix it.
Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Public Display of Heroism, Pendula Swing's 6th episode, is available since August 15, but thanks to Steam's new Events update, the post announcing this news is not showing on our Steam Store Page. So we thought we'd fix that in a different way! Here are some of our personal favourites in the Academic District!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/861954/Pendula_Swing_Episode_6__Public_Display_of_Heroism/

Just like Dwarven Ale, wine is also an alcoholic beverage
...Yet some Pendulans seem to disagree with this. Have you stumbled upon the AA meeting taking place in the Library? What's your take on the "I drink, I fall down - no problem" joke?

Who's the cutest transmorphed animal?
Right near the stairs you can step down on, to the right just after the student protest, Brialynne stumbles upon a meeting for accidentally enchanted animals (which also stands for the fact that we added a lot more critters - some of them, magical! - in Pendula Swing). We cannot seem to pick a favourite, though - can you?

Squeak must win!

Give him some... sugar?!!
Tis one is an anti-favourite but you gotta give it to Mr. Avein, he has some courage to ask Brialynne such things! He is also the best source for wereball information and news!

Pendula Swing Episode 1 - Tired and Retired - Valiant
Greetings, adventurers!

We really hope you are enjoying the student life in Pendula Swing - but perhaps you already have another preferred district! We are getting close to launching the end of Brialynne's saga and we are extremely grateful for your feedback and support. Thanks to your help, we went on a bug hunting spree* and fixed the issues you helped us find. Please be aware this patch is for PC only - Mac version coming soon! This patch is focused on fixing as many reported issues as follows:

Fixes:

  • Stack sizes when entering and exiting vendors and containers should now be consistent. No more stealing from your own store, Douglas Dale!
  • When you pick up a painting and then exit the room, the painting should no loner be back on the wall when you return. So we're terribly sorry, but the money exploit from selling the same painting multiple times is gone. However, given that in this game Brialynne is rich, we know she would never use such an exploit
  • When asking characters about the specific area they are in, you no longer see a weird code in the response, like "¤A24". Whether this code was hiding a surprising mystery... we'll never know! Or will we...
  • There have been some dialogue issues in the past, where options got duplicated or seemingly unrelated options are displayed. This shouldn't happen anymore. No more babble.
  • We have redecorated the Entertainment District so it is easier to get to the Department Store. How else can we support 1920s frenzied consumerism? It was, after all, the time when malls became popular!
  • We have fixed several issues with tasks not properly updating upon completion, and similar. Thank you so kindly for your patience and for reporting them! With over 300 characters currently and slowly closing in 150 stories and quests, this helps us immensely!
  • Other than that, we've fixed some typos and incorrect materials. We always do that. And you know it!

Known Issues in v 2.5.6
  • If you open the map while in a dialogue, sometimes part of the dialogue UI disappears when you return. This will be fixed with the next patch.
  • Some characters have holes in their clothes due to skinning errors. This is no indication of their financial status - we're sewing them back together as best we can!

*as usual, no actual bugs were harmed during the process!

We look forward for your continued feedback and suggestions!
