What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Imagine a world where everyone lives comfortably and where creativity is regarded as the highest meaning of life. In such a world, making art would be a joyful, relaxing activity, and sharing it would be kindly and enthusiastically celebrated.

Kaleidocraft is set in such a world. We want to build this futuristic, utopian world - one where everyone is encouraged to make art, and to share it with joy and confidence.

Because we want to create this relaxing, safe, joyful and abundant creative space in Kaleidocraft, we need your help and guidance. We want to involve the community to help us polish Kaleidocraft’s features, to prioritize new shape collections and color palettes, to design new challenges and events, and much more. With your help, we hope to make Kaleidocraft a vibrant game that nurtures an ever growing kind and encouraging society of artists.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until we all agree that Kaleidocraft is ready, which we hope might be by the end of this year. To start Kaleidocraft in Early Access, we focused on the making art aspect of this game. To finish this game, we want to add a lot more functionality, which is mainly focused on building a believable universe and on enabling our community to share, use and appreciate each others' art.

We also added a beginning of a single player mode, where we designed a kind and welcoming futuristic social network that demands, welcomes and appreciates your creations. To convey the idea of utopian futurism, we also added the seeds of an idea of a hologram”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of Kaleidocraft, we plan to add significantly more content, a fully fledged story/ single player mode, an artist (character) customization tool, an increased ability to decorate your holographic artist room (such as changing furniture), and a multiplayer mode where players will be able to share art online and participate in curated challenges. We hope to involve the community in validating, finalizing the design, planning and prioritizing of these features - and to keep us company on Steam and Discord while we develop Kaleidocraft!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, Kaleidocraft allows you to create art, manage it in your gallery and share it on a fictional social media which kindly welcomes and encourages new artists. You can also start to customize your holographic room by displaying your favorite art on your wall, choosing your preferred arrangement, using your art as a wallpaper or as your profile picture. You can share your art with us here at Valiant, who will host challenges throughout the entire life of Kaleidocraft.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are considering to gradually raise the price as we add significantly more content and features to Kaleidocraft.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Artists! Kaleidocraft is your world and you will have a crucial say regarding what our frequent updates will contain. We aim to push new content and features every two weeks, and we need your help to validate design, prioritize features and prepare new shapes and color palettes for you.

Concretely, our plan in involving the community in Kaleidocraft is by using Steam's discussion forums and community hub updates to plan events and updates every two weeks. We plan to broadcast our progress in something called Design Sesh, where we also present what we intend to work on next. Additionally we have a Discord server that's ready to welcome Kaleidocraft artists. We hope our community will help us prioritize what features and content should come in the next updates, by joining our broadcasts and analyzing our Kaleidocraft design together with us.”
