Stop the Blight - BouncyWasher

This update focuses on polishing gameplay with some bug fixes, UI improvements, and a few balance tweaks. There’s also a new Light-element spell to help deal with swarms of enemies.

New & Updated Content
  • Cleansing Wave (Light) – New low-cost AoE spell for quickly clearing out groups of weaker enemies.

  • Holy Hand Grenade – Increased damage and area-of-effect radius.

  • Core Health Boost – All Cores now start with 512 HP (up from 256).

  • Sunbeam Tower – Slightly reduced attack range from 15 to 14.

UI & Quality of Life
  • Updated Spell Archive (new spell reward) UI for clarity.

  • Emergency repair charges are now shown directly in the HUD.

  • Improved placement confirmation pointer for spells.

  • Better visual feedback for click-to-move commands.

  • Adjusted font sizes and padding in tutorial panels for easier reading.

Bug Fixes & Optimizations
  • Fixed a bug causing too many enemies to spawn in later waves.

  • Walls now correctly clear obstructions when placed.

  • Fixed HP bar not initializing properly in the tutorial.

  • Virtual cursor will no longer update while hidden.

  • Smoothed ghost placement movement for towers, spells, and Cores.

  • Optimized enemy attack code for better performance in large battles.

Starship Simulator Dev Playtest - Fleetyard Studios
  • Improved the visual appearance of the sub-menus on the Main Menu, and made them more in-keeping with the UNOS aesthetic.
  • Added a subtle black border to the sub-menus so that they are more visible against bright planets in the background.
  • Removed the fade effect when you open/close menus, because we're using a masked UI material now rather than a Transparent one.
  • Added subtle background gradients to the Main Menu and its sub-menus, driven by a lightweight noise function.
  • Shortened the initial fade-in from 10 seconds down to 1 second when you first open the game.
  • Added proper VR hand controllers to the Main Menu, along with the required interaction logic.
  • Added some detection logic to swap the VR controller meshes based on the VR headset brand.
  • Updated the Valve Index controller mesh so that its little green light is an actual light.
  • Added a visible blue laser pointer to the VR controllers on the Main Menu.
  • Added UI interaction capabilities to both VR hands in-game. You can now use either index finger to press UI buttons.
  • Tweaked the index finger UI interaction to make scrolling with sliders easier.
  • Added the ability to pick up pops in VR.
  • Updated the interaction system so that props adhere to the hand rotation in VR, while adhering to the camera yaw in First Person.
  • Updated the material used for lighting panels in-game so that lights have a prismatic diffuser texture on them.
  • Updated the ceiling panels by the entrance to the Magellan's VIP Lounge. (Experimenting with a slightly new design)

Here’s a very important update regarding the future of From Zero to Slime Hero, so please read until the end — thank you!

I’m excited to announce that I am currently developing a 3D version of the game, which will permanently replace the 2D version! This means that when you launch the game, you’ll immediately enter the new 3D environment instead of the old 2D one.

I don’t yet have a final answer on whether the 2D version will remain accessible... BUT in the meantime, you’ll be able to play it through an "Arcade Machine" located in the basement of your "Friend’s" house (the one with the green hoodie and blue eyes).

I don’t have a release date in mind yet, but I can assure you that I’m working tirelessly on this update.

Why the change?

There are two main reasons why I decided to move the game from 2D to 3D:

  1. 2D is far too complex, especially when it comes to sprites (characters, items, decorations, backgrounds, etc.) and even more so for animations, since everything must be drawn frame by frame — it’s a real headache.

  2. 3D is infinitely easier to work with, especially if you already have skills in 3D modeling and animation (which I do now).

I originally started this project in 2D because that was the level of programming knowledge I had back then—it was the only thing I knew how to do. But after countless hours of learning and practice, I’ve finally gained the skills needed to develop a game in 3D using the engine I work with.

I've been pretty diligent about posting updates to Steam once a week or so, but in the push to get some stuff backported from DDA (save compression, effects overlays drawn on monsters) I hit a snag that broke some EoC stuff. TLG doesn't have a "stable" or "experimental" branch, but I do try to avoid pushing builds to Steam unless I know they're solid.
