Progress Update: August 28, 2025

August has been a productive month! I’ve been working overtime lately and have made significant progress: Evgenia’s voice acting has been fully implemented. But when I moved on to Grenearl, I noticed some fairly significant issues with the voice recordings… I actually picked up on them during the first recording session, but I was a bit hesitant to request too many revisions at the time (ahhh!). I thought most of it would be usable, but it turns out… it really isn’t. We’re planning to re-record after the voice actor returns from vacation in September. This time, I hope they can refer more closely to the tone and delivery references I provided ORZ.

Our editor, Diana, has been as efficient as ever! She already completed the proofreading for locations and concepts by mid-August. Now, I’ve sent her the character profiles for proofreading. Her efficiency is almost too much, that I have to keep up and speed up the translation progress!

Also, since the publishing contract for "Knell of St. Godhrkar" has expired, the process is almost complete! While reviewing the code for the previous game, I was not only stunned by the sheer complexity but also discovered many untranslated sections in the English version.... I has decided to take some (very limited) time to optimize the code for the Knell. We’re hoping to release a major update soon (though it’ll probably break previous save files…!).

Additionally, last week, we completed all the scenes for the first two days of the P route. One particular scene had 8 different variations due to overlapping choices! it was an intense and exhilarating mix of possibilities!

~ Antinomie World Knowledge Corner ~

Q: Hi Birctreel! I recently finished playing the demo of Elegy and felt that this installment is another huge leap forward compared to the Knell. It feels like a major production: the writing, music, and art all show incredible dedication. The storylines for the 3 characters are also very engaging. Personally, I love Evgenia’s route the most; the power struggles among the elites reveal the darkness of human nature driven by benefit in just the right way. However, after finishing E42, I couldn’t shake a faint sense of unease. I really want to know, will Evgenia ultimately reach a bright ending, free from schemes and disguises? She will, right? She definitely will, right? TAT (Please don’t let it be like Shervlett’s route in the Knell… sob sob)

Evgenia’s route may seem like an otome game (…), but it’s actually the most perilous of the 3 routes. Combined with the character’s own flaws, the early parts may feel a bit frustrating. But don’t worry! Her arrogance stems from courage and decisiveness—and these very traits will guide her toward a (maybe hilariously) happy ending!

A First in the Industry! An Innovative Linking Feature with Mahjong Soul

When you turn on the Mahjong Soul linking function, Chibi Ichihime will react to the Mahjong Soul game (Win Client, Steam version and Web version), watching the screen as if she's a spectator. During a match, she will show a variety of expressive reactions at the following moments.

Main Reactions During a Match
  • When the player wins (agari): She celebrates with you.

  • When the player deals into another player (furikomi): She feels sad for you.

  • When the player calls (naku): She makes a call declaration and strikes a pose, just like in the game.

  • When the player declares "Riichi": She gets restless, eagerly anticipating a win.

  • When another player declares "Riichi": She gets flustered, anticipating a loss.

Reactions at the End of a Match
  • When the player wins: She celebrates with you (the intensity of her joy changes depending on your rank).

  • When the player loses: She shares in your sadness (the intensity of her sadness changes depending on your rank).

The linking function can be toggled on or off. When turned off, she will return to acting like a regular Desktop Mate character, so you can still enjoy her in the usual way.

Important Notes
  • The linking function with Mahjong Soul is only compatible with the collaboration character "Mahjong Soul Chibi Ichihime." It will not work with other Desktop Mate characters.

  • Due to production constraints, this feature links by capturing the screen of "Mahjong Soul." For security, we do not save any captured images, and the system is designed not to capture any windows other than the "Mahjong Soul" window.

  • The linking function may not operate correctly depending on your PC's specifications and environment.

  • This function was planned specifically for this collaboration campaign and is not guaranteed to be permanently available. Additionally, updates to Mahjong Soul may temporarily make the linking function unavailable. Please be aware of this before use.

Hello, this is SJGO, the head of development for Dungeon Stalkers.

After we announced the season reset in the last developer's note, many of you Stalkers have expressed your concerns and disappointment. We sincerely apologize for the lack of information we shared, which has caused unnecessary misunderstanding and anxiety. We are taking every one of your voices to heart and would like to explain in more detail the direction of the season reset and what we are preparing.

 

■ Your Efforts Will Absolutely Not Be Lost

 

After listening to your diverse opinions and carefully reviewing them internally, we have decided to exclude Hideout ‘Build’ progress from the season reset.

  • Excluded from Reset: Hideout ‘Build’ Progress

Through this decision, we want to show you that we are listening and that we never take your feedback lightly.

Other than this, major currencies like Gold and Coins, as well as progress such as Stalker levels and owned equipment, will be reset as planned. However, this too never means that all the effort and time you Stalkers have invested during the past season will disappear.

We plan to introduce a new point system that reflects all your gameplay achievements from the previous season. Through this system, you will be given what we're tentatively calling ‘Honor Points’ at the start of the new season, ensuring that all your accomplishments and activities from the last season serve as a strong foundation for your journey in the new one.

 

■ 'Honor Points' (Tentative Name) to Start the New Season With

 

As this system is still under development, it is difficult to disclose the detailed specifications today. However, we promise to share the detailed plan before the season reset.

Here are the details that have been confirmed so far:

  • When it will be granted: At the start of the new season

  • Contributing factors for calculation: Various progression data from the previous season, such as Stalker level, acquired Adventure Coins, and Gold

  • Example of use:

    • Permanent rewards like character appearances/emotes that can only be obtained with these points

  • Expected effect: Designed so that those who fully enjoyed the previous season can earn corresponding honorable rewards

We will continue to refine the system to ensure it provides fitting rewards for those who passionately played the last season and offers meaningful motivation for those aiming for greater heights in the new season.

 

■ We Aim to Provide More Fun Through the Seasonal System

 

We would also like to explain why we have chosen a seasonal system and season resets.

Our goal is to provide new fun, metas, and strategic experiences with each season. If we carry over all progress from the previous season, the game's freshness and fairness would quickly diminish due to economic inflation, a solidified meta, and widening gaps between players. Our long-term internal tests also confirmed that a continuous progression structure accelerated boredom and increased stress.

For this reason, we have been developing the game based on the premise of a seasonal system, considering the reset of some stats and progression. Instead, we intend to convert the previous season's achievements into points, returning them as tangible rewards and benefits that ease the early-game experience.

We believe that the seasonal system is the best way for everyone to continue their challenge in the dungeons from a new starting line, exploring new strategies and tactics.

 

■ We Will Work with You, Not Make Unilateral Declarations

 

We want to emphasize that it is not our intention to unilaterally push the system we have designed or demand that you "just follow it." Although we are a small team, we chose the seasonal system to provide better and longer-lasting fun, and we will actively fix any problems that arise with each new season.

  • Starting with the design of Season 1, we are refining the Honor Point system and reward structure to reflect your current concerns as much as possible.

  • If more development is needed to compensate for the weaknesses of the seasonal system, our development team will put in the necessary time to make it happen.

  • We will reverse wrong decisions and correct areas that need adjustment through updates.

For now, we kindly ask you to trust and wait just a little longer for the blueprint of Season 1 that we are preparing. After you experience it for yourselves, we will listen to your further suggestions and sharp criticisms and repay you with a better game.

We are always listening to the voices of the community. We clearly understand the value of the time and effort you have invested, and we will design our systems in a way that respects that value.

Once again, we apologize for the confusion caused by our previously insufficient guidance.

We believe the best approach going forward is to show you through updates, and to continuously listen to your opinions and make adjustments throughout the process. We would be grateful if you could watch over us for just a little longer.

The development team is currently preparing for the September update and the season update simultaneously, and we will be back with more specific details as soon as possible.
