🎮 What’s in the Playtest?

The StarRupture Single-Player Playtest features over three hours of gameplay split between an early slice of the game featuring the game's core mechanics, a guided tutorial, and a free play option with map restrictions (the Playtest covers around 15% of the Early Access build map), but it’s a first taste of the fun that awaits in StarRupture.

Some gameplay mechanics will be locked out for now (and left for you to fully explore when the game launches in Early Access this Autumn), such as wildlife, base attack and defense, corporate assignments and rewards over a certain level (6-7 depending on the corporation), the Forgotten Engine, some weapon unlocks with mods, and enemies. So don’t worry about the spoilers, the game will have plenty of fresh and new elements once it launches!

The Playtest supports English VO and interface localisation, and the full list of supported languages for StarRupture’s launch in Early Access is available on the game’s Steam Page.

There is no time limit on your session—play as much (or as little) as you want! However, no co-op for now—we’re focusing on single-player balance and stability.

    PLAYTEST BUILD KNOWN ISSUES

    Menu & Saves
    1. Switching between tabs in the Options menu randomly causes some settings to become greyed out.
    2. The save file is not created in the slot selected by the player; it always saves to the first save slot on the left.

    Gameplay
    1. A crash may occur when attempting to place multiple Supported Platforms at once.
    2. A crash may occur when upgrading or deconstructing Rails.
    3. The game may temporarily freeze when placing multiple Supported Platforms for the first time in a session.
    4. Drones may stop delivering items to constructions. This can be resolved by deconstructing and rebuilding the affected rails and machines.
    5. When loading a save made during the Tutorial, the Tutorial widget does not appear until an objective is progressed.
    6. Dropped items stack up to a maximum of 100; any items beyond that limit disappear when dropped.
    7. If the Player obtains items with a full inventory, the excess items fall to the ground and may clip into each other.
    8. Deconstructing the entire base using the Deconstruction option in the Base Core spawns a container tower that may be unreachable by the Player.
    9. After reloading a session, all Quartz may disappear if the game was saved near a Quartz deposit. Quartz will reappear during the next Heat Wave.
    10. Unequipping the Building Tool while walking results in interrupting Player's movement.
    11. Hydration and Calories warning icons do not light up after loading a save.
    12. Machines set to OFF are turned back ON after reloading the save.
    13. The autosave function currently works only at the start and at the end of the tutorial.
    Visuals
    1. The Map currently uses placeholder visuals.
    2. Enemies may occasionally appear slightly blurry or may flicker.
    3. Upon loading a save made during a Heat Wave, the critical temperature state and some visual effects may be missing.

    Miscellaneous
    1. Dialogues may overlap sporadically.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to our fresh and exciting Developer Update. This month, we’re inviting you to check out our co-op mode in action, and we’re sharing more info about the effects of the scorching fire wave, and how you can unlock your inner interior designer.

After publishing the newest extensive look at StarRupture co-op gameplay video, we have received a ton of feedback and comments! Thank you for being so active, this helps us understand what you’re most excited about in the game and lets us answer at least some of your questions in this Developer Update.

The event of the Ruptura’s Fire Wave brings a lot of danger for every living being on the Arcadia-7 planet. But you know what they say - “better safe than sorry”. And that’s where Base Core comes into play.

The passage of the wave of fire does not mean that our base will be wiped out - thanks to the brilliant invention of the Selenian Corp - Base Cores. Base Cores - crucial for setting up your base - protect and cool down the buildings within their perimeter.

You will also be able to level up the Base Cores so they will be able to restore the factory operations even faster… but it will come at a price, and we’re not necessarily only speaking here about the resources needed to do it…

In StarRupture, you and your friends will be able to not only scratch the itch of creating your own, custom factories but also cool and chilling-looking habitats.

The Habitats you will build across the planet’s surface will be your safe spots. They’re not only perfect hideouts to stock & refill your supplies and plan your next actions, but also great places to hide from the scorching heat or waves of enemies.

With the building tool, you will be able to create your habitats on the flat lands of the planet, or even more wicked designs on the hill sides.

You will be able to customize your habitats with additional segments and combine them with vertical or horizontal connectors, add additional airlocks for entrances, and viewports for an extra look at the vistas.

You will also be able to freely decide where to place your storage, progression, and crafting machines. Hopefully, your vision will align with that of your teammates, but if it doesn’t, you can always build another habitat in a different location.

We can’t wait to see the creative designs of your habitats you will make in StarRupture.

In StarRupture, you will be able to take your 3 friends on a mission in which you will extract, automate, and ship the resources from the Arcadia-7 planet.

You will mark a new chapter in the history of humanity - and the future of the Claywood Corporation - the company that sent you across the galaxy to explore and document this undiscovered world.

As you progress further, you will uncover different resources that need different machinery to collect them. They have one thing in common, though - Drone Rails. They will not only function as a transportation route to connect them with other machinery or storage buildings, but also as a means to transfer the energy needed to power them.

[carousel autoadvance="true"][/carousel]

Last month, we showed you the monoliths - now… we’d like to show you how they’ve changed!

They’re now much harder to find - that’s for sure! And they are very much connected to the base defense… but we will reveal more about it later on.

And that’s all for our StarRupture Developer Update in June - we hope you’ve enjoyed the never-before-seen content and that you’re hungry for more!

Stay tuned for our fresh & exciting updates on socials and right here on Steam as well, as we’re on our road to the Autumn 2025 Early Access launch.

Until next time,

Hi, everyone!

This is a big and super exciting update from our team! We’re sharing with you for the first time an expanded look at the gameplay mechanics, and its features, and we’re also giving you a sneak peek when you’ll be able to play the game on your own!

See the new video of StarRupture gameplay you will be able to enjoy when the game launches in Early Access on Steam THIS AUTUMN:

In our gameplay trailer, you can look into our base-building mechanics - from starting with a small & humble base to evolving into a huge and automated factory packed with machines and buildings and connected by a complex net of drone rails.

You will also see another sneak peek of our alien and filled-with-secrets planet, constantly changing due to the different moods of the Ruptura Star, always lurking over the horizon.

In StarRupture, you and - optionally - your friends will join a 4-player co-op gameplay, and take the role of prisoners sent to the StarRupture world to pay back their sentence.

By accomplishing missions for corporations you will unlock new objectives and blueprints, and be able to create new and more advanced constructions. As fortune favors the bold - you and your team could venture even further into the unknown.. to explore abandoned bases… and discover both rare loot and the chilling stories of what has happened there before...

Sometimes teamwork makes the dream work while defending both your base and yourselves from the deadly alien monsters you will stumble upon during your adventuring.

The trailer showcases a lot of mechanics and gameplay elements which are still a “work in progress” - so they can - and sometimes will - be tweaked along the way until the Early Access launch.

We hope you like the improvement in the gunplay - our weapons are undergoing serious upgrades to the general feel of the shooting, aiming, and their feedback to players' action - and we can’t wait for you to be able to check it out in action soon.

The trailer ends with a mysterious location, can you guess what’s happening there? We would love to know your thoughts or theories, share them with us in the comments or on our official Discord channel!

Please support our game by adding the game to your wishlist and following it here on Steam and your favorite social media - it means a lot to us! Also, by doing so you’ll be the first to know about our future news about StarRupture.

Until again, Builders,
Creepy Jar Team
