added a controls help button to the menu, adjusted some dialogue for controller users, adjusted boss difficulty for some dudes who were SUPER difficult with controller controls (like monsieur ballz and the level 4 secret boss), and just some QOL stuff here and there

OP POSEIDON: NAVAL FLEET ACTION

The fast-moving German Blitzkrieg has reached the French Coast and English Chanel but now their forces are cut-off! The Kriegsmarine has moved available units to supply and attack opposing naval units as the Royal Navy has moved all available flotillas to a coastal port to aid the French naval fleet based on the West Coast of France while applying immense pressure on the trapped German units.

The BEF quickly moved troops and armor to meet this new threat. French Army units stationed nearby are massing troops, armor and additional riverine craft to join the fight!

Under pressure from local enemy troops, Luftwaffe units stationed on the front lines provide support for a possible break-out while receiving reinforcements from friendly forces from a secure airfield.

Allied air forces, still recovering from the initial weeks of the campaign, are forming fighters and bombers at a large airfield to support attacks on the encircled German forces.

In March 1953, the Soviet Union lost Joseph Stalin. With him went the singular authority that had kept the political elite in line. What followed was not unity, but a fierce struggle between competing visions for the future of the state.

In State of Affairs, this moment is represented through the Faction System, where each bloc inside the USSR has its own leaders, goals, and strategies. Navigating their rivalries and ambitions will be central to your survival as a political leader. Push one too far, and they will work to bring you down.

The Main Players

Hardliners

  • Leader: Lavrentiy Beria,

  • Ideology: Maintain centralized control, strengthen military power, suppress dissent, and continue Stalinist-style governance.,

  • Gameplay Role: Resist reforms, support strong security measures, prefer slow and planned economic changes. They are reliable for stability but slow down modernisation.

Moderates

  • Leader: Georgy Malenkov,

  • Ideology: Maintain political unity, modernise the economy without weakening state control, avoid ideological extremes.,

  • Gameplay Role: Careful reformers who act as swing votes. Balance factional demands and support measured economic modernisation.

Reformists

  • Leader: Nikita Khrushchev,

  • Ideology: Pro-liberalisation, economic diversification, and cautious engagement with the West.,

  • Gameplay Role: Push for agricultural investment, limited freedoms, and shifting resources toward the civilian economy. They can bring growth but risk undermining traditional power structures.

How They Work in Gameplay

Every policy you propose becomes a battlefield. Factions judge each law through the lens of their ideology, and their reaction will shape your political fortunes. Pass a policy they approve of and their loyalty will grow, giving you firmer ground in future debates. Push through something they despise and expect resistance, from hostile votes to behind-the-scenes plotting.

Loyalty is the currency of trust in this system. When it runs high, factions will stand by you in critical moments. When it runs low, they may scheme against you, undermine you in public, or openly defy your authority.

Influence and voting power decide how much weight each faction throws around. A large bloc with moderate influence can be easier to manage than a smaller, highly influential group that commands key seats in the legislature. Sometimes even a single faction leader with strong influence can tip the balance of an entire vote

Factions are also opportunistic. Their positions can shift when circumstances change. A Hardliner may reluctantly support a reform if it bolsters national security, while a Reformist could turn against a progressive policy if it consolidates power in the wrong hands. In State of Affairs, no alliance is permanent and no enemy is beyond persuasion.

The response from you all has been nothing short of incredible so far. We've been working overtime to make sure the game is stable and even more fun, here's our changes:

v0.8.2 Changelog
  • Major performance improvements made to CPU usage. Expect high-player lobbies to be much smoother now! I now get over 300 FPS on my machine when battling with 4 players.

  • The server crashing issue should be fixed, but let me know if it isn't.

  • Fixed visual glitch where some objects were not cell shaded.,

  • Server browser is formatted properly, and now displays player count too (thanks @Lightning McQueen @Koneko Kaito VT!),

  • You can invite friends to matches using Steam's friend system.,

  • The game will now auto-install updates if it's out of date. No need to verify integrity anymore!,

  • Mech Health increased from 3000->3500hp. Should give it a bit more survivability,

  • You can now limit the amount of players in a lobby (thanks @Pixeland @gateway !),

  • Stim charge rate increased by 15%,

  • Mini tutorial added on the first time you play, and Skill Info saved between sessions.,

  • EOS backend upgraded to 1.18.1, should fix a few login issues.,

  • Performance should be significantly better in high player lobbies, with the addition of the Animation Budget system. You can now modify how long you want other player's animations to smoothly run for before we reduce their update frequency.,

  • Settings now apply properly on launch (thanks @Titanメ !),

Balancing:
  • Handgun damage increased from 25->35. It just wasn't seeing a ton of usage, this should make it more potent.,

  • Heavy Handgun damage increased from 55->85. This will now let you one-shot headshot enemies!,

  • Vector SMG damage increased from 20->25. This weapon is alot of fun to use, but the damage just wasn't up to where it needed to be. This should correct that.,

  • Anti Material Rifle damage increased from 200->250. This should make bigger holes in walls, and do more damage to mechs.,

  • Renegade Rifle damage increased from 25->40, and ADS recoil increased by 20%. This weapon will be a beast to those who can handle it!,

  • Shotgun and Shredder Shotgun now have consistent pellet output. Shredder Shotgun's spread is much more larger now to reflect this.

New update introducing a brand-new feature: the easel. Craft paintings with this new workstation to decorate your shop or sell them to make a profit!

Changes :
  • Added a new workstation: the easel.

  • Paint cans are now considered recyclable waste. (Paint cans you’ve already found will be automatically moved to the Trash category in your inventory. However, those you placed for sale will remain on the ground, it’s up to you whether to sell them or pick them up to recycle.)

  • New item to find.

  • Reordered some early game unlocks
