What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Heroes of Fortunia is an incredibly community-intensive game. It thrives on user-created content in the form of dungeons other users have to traverse, and it relies on players populating the game's universe. As such, it feels only right to have the community be an integral part of Heroes of Fortunia's development process, by involving them in key decisions that will help shape the game's future.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The currently planned release date is Q4 2019, but we are well aware that things might change due to unforeseen circumstances. Regardless, we will always be upfront about any such changes and keep everyone in the loop!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The goal for Heroes of Fortunia's full version is to have a vast array of minions, rooms & traps, one additional hero, additional game modes (including a single-player campaign), and to get further polishing done. Players will perform a key role in achieving this goal, by providing helpful feedback and suggestions, so we can make this game the best it can be.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently has the most important aspects implemented, that is editing & publishing your own dungeon, attacking other players' dungeons and expanding your own collection of minions & traps. The number of minions & traps that are available is relatively small right now, but is ever increasing with every update.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Heroes of Fortunia is and will always be free to play. Throughout the Early Access period, we plan to introduce in-app purchases that will allow you to buy treasure chests with real money instead of in-game gold (which is the only way to buy them right now). You will notice the option to buy them using real money already exists in the game, but is grayed out. The exact date & pricing is yet to be determined.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can submit feedback of any kind through the in-game UI. We will individually review everyone's feedback and take it into consideration. Players are encouraged to talk about everything, be it gameplay concerns, bug reports, minion/trap suggestions, constructive criticism, or something entirely different. In order for Heroes of Fortunia to thrive, it will need a strong and robust community, and we believe involving them deeply in the game's development process is the first step to achieving that.”

Version 0.5.2: Quality of Life Update

Heroes of Fortunia version 0.5.2 is now live. This update brings some quality of life improvements, as well as a few bugfixes and minor changes with it.

Controls Update
The way targeting & attacking works in Heroes of Fortunia has changed slightly:
  • Targeting an enemy via the tab-target, or auto-switch targets feature no longer makes your character move to that enemy automatically.
  • Moving after targeting an enemy will no longer make you untarget them.
This means you can target -> attack -> move -> attack in quicker succession, without having to re-target.
It also allows you to cycle through enemies using tab-targeting while moving, until you have selected the target you want.
Last but not least, it allows you to use targeted abilities like the Knight's fissure in a "drive-by" fashion, without having your character auto-walk towards the enemy.
  • You can now clear your current target by pressing the Escape key. Note that this will not make you stop moving towards an enemy if you targeted them by clicking on them.

Other Changes
  • B.O.U.L.D.E.R.: Damage can now be mitigated by most effects, and now scales with poison.
  • B.O.U.L.D.E.R.: Now properly activates "On Death" effects and causes enemy deaths to trigger the Defense Gate if applicable.
  • B.O.U.L.D.E.R.: Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the projectile to be completely invisible when activated far away.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the game to freeze for a long period of time when watching replays only.
  • Fixed an issue that would discard your work-in-progress dungeon when starting to watch a replay from your replay log.

This will be the last update in the 0.5.X series, and as previously announced the upcoming 0.6.0 update will once more introduce some new components, and bring some improvements for attack & edit mode, as well as introduce a very special surprise to all defenders.

Please do let us know what you think of these changes (especially the new controls) either in the Steam community forums, or using the in-game feedback form!

Version 0.5.1: Hotfix update.

Heroes of Fortunia version 0.5.1 is now live. Be sure to update the game through Steam to keep playing.

This update fixes some issues that 0.5.0 brought with itself, as well as tweak a few things here and there. We are expecting to release a second hotfix, 0.5.2, within the next few days after we collect more data from you.

Hero/Component Changes
  • Wizard: Basic attack damage increased from 2 -> 3.
  • B.O.U.L.D.E.R.: Now also activates when the attacker enters the Treasury room.
  • B.O.U.L.D.E.R.: Now only destroys traps that block the path of heroes & minions.

Other Changes
  • Enemies now contribute to the attacking hero's power bar upon engage, as opposed to on death. This means that enemies that are never part of actual combat (such as Reaper victims) will not contribute to the power bar at all.
  • The "Maintain stance" functionality now prevents ALL movement.
  • Adjusted the component description of several components to maintain a coherent vocabulary.

Bugfixes
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the "My Collection" tab to be rendered incorrectly on some resolutions.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause B.O.U.L.D.E.R. to behave incorrectly in replays only.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the Defense Gate to behave incorrectly in replays only.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause B.O.U.L.D.E.R. to destroy a trap it was not even close to.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause live attacks to appear in your attack log before the popup shows up.

About This Game

Heroes of Fortunia is a brand new game developed by the start-up Polska Lemon Ltd. that throws you into the world of Fortunia, where resources are scarce and need to be protected at all costs. Create your own dungeon and fill it with various monsters & traps, to keep any outsiders from reaching your treasury, whilst at the same time raiding other dungeons to increase your own wealth!

Key Features

  • Create your own Dungeon: Select from a variety of rooms, monsters and traps to create the perfect dungeon that no one will be able to beat!
  • Attack other Dungeons: Attack other players' dungeons to show them who's boss! Play in ranked mode to climb up the leaderboards, or in casual mode if you just want some fun.
  • Three's Not a Crowd: For each attack, you get to select one out of three heroes to play with. Each of them comes with a unique set of skills and attributes, built to favor different play styles. Whether you like getting up close and personal with your enemies, or prefer sniping them down from afar, Heroes of Fortunia has it all!
  • Dungeon Challenges: Once in a blue moon, a dungeon challenge will appear that will force you as an attacker to think outside the box. These dungeons are nothing like what you encounter during regular play, but offer great rewards!
  • Sharing is Caring*: Whenever you attack a dungeon, or your dungeon gets attacked, you get to view a replay of that fight. What's more, you can share those replays with anyone else who also has the game, so be sure to let your friends know how to properly build a dungeon!

NOTE: Heroes of Fortunia is currently under active development, and as such features marked with * are currently not implemented, but are planned to be implemented by the time it is fully released.
