What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We would like to involve the playerbase in the growth of the game, make decisions regarding to demographics and the suggestions of the playerbase.

Also due to limitations, additional features like dedicated server support will only be added after building a community to observe the location info and the activity of the userbase to best utilize our finances for the allocation of sufficient servers worldwide. This is to ensure that:

- Regions with higher player base has access to servers with the ability to handle the amount of players
- Regions with lower player base do not spend a lot of time in the matchmaking queue
- The overall experience is maximized

Early access will also allow us to watch the balancing of the game by creating scenarios which we cannot always replicate in our studios.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our plans are to keep it relatively short, an estimated 6 months period. The game will reach its full release as soon as the checklist for the full release is complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access version of the game includes:
- Main game mode (The game mode that will be used for ranked games)
- One map
- Login&Matchmaking Servers
- Lobby games
- Party system
- Various cosmetic items

The full version of the game will include the following as an addition to the release version
- Progression system
- 2 additional main game mode maps
- 3 custom game maps
- Dedicated servers for main game mode
- Custom games that play differently
- Splitscreen support
- Additional cosmetic items that grant challenges in forms of item upgrades
- Achievements
- Leaderboards”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version of the game includes:
- Main game mode: The game mode that will be adjusted but overall will stay the same in terms of rules. 4v4 capture the point style game mode.
- One map: Playroom
- Login&Matchmaking Servers: Servers that are hosted by ourselves that handle matchmaking and authentication
- Lobby games: Players can currently invite friends up to 8 people and play the game together
- Party system: Players can invite friends to play together in matchmaking mode
- Various cosmetic items: Players can customize their marbles in various ways.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The pricing of the game will double upon the end of the early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This item is the most important for us given more players for us equate to more opinions and these opinions are what will make Marble Combat thrive further. We will be sticking to weekly or bi-weekly updates and watch the integrity and the balancing of the game and ensure that the game on each update gets better and not worse. We need the power of the community to judge what is the best step to take further at any given moment.

We are gathering our community at our discord servers:
which people are welcome whether or not they purchased the game or played the demo. You can ask any questions there and we will be glad to reply.

And we are occasionally streaming the development of the game on Twitch:”

Last week announcement

Hello hello!

We only have a week left to the release and I would like to share with you what is up ahead!

Leaderboards implementation is partially finished. There are a few things to be resolved with Steam, hence the display of the leaderboard might not make to the release date, but hoping that the issue will be resolved swiftly and you will be able to compete against others in the time attack mode.

The entries for the achievements are made and a few more will be added before the release. Some of the achievements will award you cosmetic items so try to gather them all up.

Cosmetics, Steam Inventory and Shop
14 marbles will be available at the launch and some of these will be awarded with the achievements. The marbles that are given via an achievement will be trade and market locked and the rest can be purchased from the Steam Marketplace or the item store and can be traded/sold. Some of the marbles that are available at launch will be discontinued for sale after a while and new ones will be introduced at a later point.

If you have any questions, you can use Steam Discussions or you can drop onto our Discord channel. Also if you would like to try the beta version, you also can join Discord and ask for a key.

I hope that you have your balls prepared!

With best regards!

Week 7: Collection, Release Date Announcement and the Roadmap

Hello hello!

We hope you guys are having a good time. Since we are now settled on the release date of 20th of February, here is what is to come.

Sticker Album
We revamped the previous customization section and replaced it with the Sticker Album. On Sticker Album, your marbles are represented as stickers, just like we used to (Or maybe some of you still) collect the stickers of sports teams etc. With the Sticker Album, you can check the progress of your collection, inspect how a marble looks like, get lore info and even try it. The sticker album, due to the small amount of available marbles upon release does not have filtering or sorting options, but this is a feature we plan to prepare by the early access.

Stopping the updates of the demo version
Due to the upcoming implementations' nature, we will be stopping the updates on the demo version. The demo version still will be available until release (Which it will be fulfilling its purpose) and we will be announcing a test opportunity for those who would like to give the game a try. We also plan to distribute promo marbles for those who attend to the testing.

The Sticker Album update will be available in the upcoming 12 hours.

Thanks a lot!

About This Game

Marble combat is a physics based multiplayer game for 2 - 8 people. Players compete as magical marbles racing and fighting to dominate capture points and collect power ups. Spin, velocity, bounce, and torque control the players movement with a little added air control for big jumps and falls.

Compete in teams of 4v4 to score points over three rounds. Points are scored through dominating a single capture zone per round with each zone providing a unique challenge to the teams.
Players can pick up to 4 abilities which can be used to throw opponents, save allies or beat enemies out of the capture zone. Picking the right combination of abilities with your team can be the difference between victory and defeat.

The environment features different types of interactive and animated elements that can launch, carry, fire, bounce your marble for better or for worse.
Learn the environment through single player time attack challenges .

The rough road map for Marble Combat will be to go to Steam Early Access with the main map and game mode. Periodically new maps, powers, cosmetics and other game modes will be added throughout early access.

Overall Marble Combat aims to offer a competitive multiplayer with a focus on slapstick comedy and retro nostalgia.
