Why Early Access?

“The core Glassteroids gameplay, graphics and sound are in place and I would like to share them with the world while I work on further game modes.

Glassteroids is at heart a 3D re-imagining of the arcade classic Asteroids, and it is a lot of fun. I'm going to work on experimental features such as boss battles, and experiment with further game modes based on other 2D classics such as Sinistar and Defender.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Expected 2 - 6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have a more polished UI, as well as several more game modes, and enhancements to current game modes (ie boss battles or other scenarios to spice up the core gameplay)

I have tried some VR modes, though so far it has been too motion sickness inducing. I can't promise VR will make it in, but I will continue to brainstorm for fun VR mode ideas.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“"Pilot test" (classic style gameplay, no powerups apart from a slow motion warning, and classic random hyperspace ability) is complete.

Career mode currently has canon and shield powerups, a heat ray and a boost ability (rapid movement boost plus temporary overshield to let you boost through asteroids and enemies)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game price will gradually increase as more features are shipped.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I would like to get feedback and suggestions in the forums for things like the difficulty curve and weapon balance. Any ideas for game modes and boss battles are also welcome.”
