What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our game is currently in its testing phase. We'd like to invite players to test our game and provide us with their feedback for where they want to see the project go.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature more playable levels, an open and fully explorable world map, more ships and in-game assets available to the player.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now we have one playable level to test our infantry combat mechanics as well as our first iteration of our free-floating economy system and marketplace.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The game will always be free-to-play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We value the feedback from the community. We need a lot of feedback in order to improve our gameplay mechanics as well as for bug hunting. We'd also like to take suggestions from our players to see which features they would like to see in the game as well as to know about any balancing issues the game may have.”

Build Is Live!

Hello everyone, got a new build for ya'll! Lots of big bugs have been patched this round, so hopefully everyone has a smoother experience.

-Redid the animation for firing rifles, it has much less vertical kick now and should hopefully be useful to aim down sights.

-Increased the weapon switch speed by 50%.

-Fixed a bug that allowed you to change teams regardless of the current amount of players on either team.

-Worked on the autobalancer system further, it should now account for players appropriately and balance properly.

-Fixed a bug where binding certain input to jump wouldn't let you jump (such as mousewheel). You're welcome, Shara.

-Fixed a bug which would show your first person arm set in third person if you respawned after dying while in third person mode.

-Overhauled the way all energy weapons work, the Scorpion and Origin should now actually be decent. Mag sizes, fire rates, fire modes, and damage have all been tweaked.

-Patched an issue where weapons were only unloaded on client side, this meant you essentially couldn't remove the magazines from a weapon.

-Attempted a fix where you could double tap reload in a high latency game and skip the reload sequence.

-Heartbeat BPM now resets on respawn.

-Fixed a bug where switching to your previous weapon popped the new weapon into your hand before the animation played.

-Fixed a bug where the climate zone protruded into the Maintenance hallway airlock.

-Fixed a bug that caused Merc players to spawn with 10 rounds in their M1911 and it's mags.

-Fixed a bug when all the points were lost for a team.

-Attempted a fix for the "PlayerName" has entered the game bug.

-Attempted to fix a bug where you could fire until a weapon had negative ammo.

-Increased the VEC-45 fire rate up to 800 RPM from 700.

-Fixed the placement of the "Key Already Bound" text, it was offset to the top left.

Build Is Uploaded

Hello everyone, welcome to 2019 and the latest build of Dissolution. Check out the change log below for all the details! Have a great new year.

-Changed it so that if a team has no capture points they lose 25 points for tick so the game ends quickly.

-You can no longer use you shield when you're dead.

-Killing an enemy now subtracts a point from their score.

-Fixed a typo in the main menu.

-Muzzle flashes are now attached to the muzzle of a gun instead of being detached. Not particularly realistic, but looks better, particularly if you have high latency.

-Applied character limits to the player name tags so that you can't have more than 15 characters displayed (RIP Shara).

-Reworked all the muzzle flashes to be much more realistic and less annoying.

-Tried to fix a bug where fall damage would count as TK damage to your team mates.

-Attempted a fix for a bug where you could "surf" on grenades.

-Changed the zoom levels of the origin to be significantly less zoomed in.

-Increased the damage of the MGL-62 by 30%, no longer will you survive direct impacts.

-Set the round limit for the M1911 back down to 7.

-Fixed a bug where reloading the P1 pistol in a vacuum made some sound.

About This Game

This game is a PRE-ALPHA, and is NOT representative of the final game.

With your help and patience, we are currently testing for bugs, glitches and multiplayer performance. You may experience errors, crashes and unfinished features during your playtime. Please report bugs to our steam Bug-hunting thread or our discord.

We will try to roll out updates as quickly as possible.

From the moment you start your journey, your choices will guide you in your own unique direction and provide a self-tailored experience of life in the great beyond. Choose your path; join the United Interplanetary Defense Forces (UIDF), become a trader, treasure hunter, gun for hire, or a pirate. No matter where your interests lie, there’s opportunity for you to make your mark in the world.

Players are allowed a great deal of freedom and personal choice with how they play the game. You'll be able to purchase properties, vehicles, weapons, trade stocks and bonds, and get involved in a free-floating economy where prices are decided by supply and demand. You could be a pacifist and not even own a firearm, or become a ruthless pirate pillaging supply ships and leaving no survivors. A marketplace will allow free trading to take place between players.

In Dissolution, the Earth has been destroyed by weapons of mass destruction to try and stop the AI who'd taken over most of the world. While most humans were unable to escape the planet before the missiles fell, humanity had spread to most of the solar system and a handful of survivors kept trying to hold humanity together. The game takes place two centuries after the final war on Earth. The AI production facilities were all destroyed, but some of their troops survived and are holed up on the dark edges of the solar system near Pluto.

However, survival isn't easy. Food always seems to be in short supply, and filtering and harvesting water takes precious energy. What was left of the military forces and the UN united to form the United Interplanetary Defense Force or the UIDF. Their job is to essentially serve as a police force and resolve disputes and protect settlers from bandits who would steal supplies by force. What makes people human is quickly fading in the face of famines, murder, and constant threat from the remaining AI troops.

Humanity is dwindling and what's left of the government is in a state of dissolution. Each player can choose to help advance the story in whatever direction they desire. Less scrupulous players will choose to take advantage of the chaos to rob, kill, and terrorize other players. But if you get too much notoriety, the UIDF may deploy to come settle things. A dynamic storytelling experience will emerge through updates to the game, based on player's decisions. Too much chaos and internal fighting may cause the remnants of the AI troops to rally and attack. Likewise, a unified front will help deter them from attacking, and may help push them back.

The economy side of the game is backed with a blockchain. This enforces truly finite and limited resources, as well as allowing players to trade privately outside of our marketplace, even though our marketplace is completely free of any fees or charges. All items in the game world are finite and limited in quantity with the exception of some consumables which will not be tokenized, such as ammo, water, food, etc.

We will be continually evolving the world and its contents. So, whether your time is spent fighting in the military, camping around the asteroid belt, or trading items, there is something for just about everyone. Built on the powerful Unreal Engine 4, Dissolution plans to expand further and further into the solar system as the player base grows, eventually implementing an interplanetary procedural exploration system.
