The End of the Sun is een first-person, avontuurlijk, verhalend mysterie-spel, gesitueerd in de fantasiewereld van Slavische overtuigingen, legendes en mythische wezens. Het kleine dorp wordt een plaats van mysterieuze gebeurtenissen, waardoor de grens tussen mythe en werkelijkheid begint gevaarlijk te vervagen.

Als de ashter, een Slavische wijze tovenaar begaafd met de gave om door de tijd te reizen en kennis over het hiernamaals, terwijl je het spoor van de ongewone voortvluchtige volgt, je komt in een mysterieus dorp. Helaas kun je daar niemand vinden, althans niet op de manier die je verwachtte. Alles wat je om je heen ziet, zijn verbrande haarden.

Het spel is geïnspireerd door de Slavische mythologie en legendes. Het verhaal presenteert de mysterieuze gebeurtenissen die plaatsvinden tijdens de grote Slavische festivals in alle vier de seizoenen, ver van elkaar verwijderd in de tijd. De gameplay is een mix van verkenning en avontuurlijke mysteriespellen met onorthodoxe raadsels om op te lossen, maar de verhaallijn staat hier op de eerste plaats.
