What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The demo gave us a lot of great feedback from both players and our community and we want to continue that dynamic into early access. Brigador Killers is a much more complicated title than its predecessor. A mech game where you can get out of the mech means revising existing systems and adding new ones, which we have documented at the end of every month here on Steam in dev logs and will continue to do so until the game reaches 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Stellar Jockeys expects to be in Early Access until at least the end of 2026. We do not have a hard date for 1.0 at this time because Brigador Killers is a very ambitious title especially compared to the previous game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game is expected to support both Windows and Linux, along with additional language support for French, German, Japanese, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Spanish translations. Additional languages may be considered. We plan to provide better support for players on controller and the Steam Deck as well.

In terms of content, we hope to extend the game out further in both the narrative and in terms of enemy factions and units. Additional tilesets are in the works to flesh out new level environments, and the various placeholder art will eventually be replaced with proper renders.

More vehicles and weapons are planned to join the roster as well, giving the player more options when taking on new challenges.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of early access is officially Windows only and only in English.

There are 30+ missions to play in the campaign, with roughly half of those having a narrative focus where the player's options are limited in terms of weaponry. The other half is what we call the "progression" campaign where the player can enter levels with whatever they have gathered to tackle the missions as they see fit. Successful runs of easier missions encourage the player to take on more difficult missions, where higher tier firepower can be found.

Outside of the tutorial segment, the majority of missions have dynamic elements to them like semi-random enemy spawns and item drops, along with different layouts, meaning no two runs will be the exact same.

In terms of playtime, currently most players can expect to be done having seen all the main content in about 10 hours. Completionists hunting for all the available weapons or vehicles can expect to spend 20 hours or more. We know from the reviews of the demo that some people have put in hundreds of hours already.

Controller support is possible, but we strongly recommend playing on mouse and keyboard at this stage of early access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may increase the price at 1.0 and the pricing will be localized to the various available currencies. Should this be the case we will broadcast this intention well in advance. As with our previous game it will also be discounted during the regular Steam sales.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Brigador Killers would not exist without our community. Some people who started off as modders on the first game are now full time staff on Brigador Killers.

We already have a dedicated feedback channel on our Discord server, which is reviewed every week for suggestions.”

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Players can cause destruction across numerous levels both on foot and in a vehicle. Combat is with both hostile NPCs and vehicles, though both hostile and non-hostile human-scale characters can be attacked and subsequently gibbed by the player, leaving blood spats.

In-game text entries may not be fit for those under the age of 16, as some contain descriptions of violent acts, crude humor and horror.
