What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While the game is already fully playable from start to finish, I feel that it needs more time and player feedback to help shape and balance the difficulty. If I release the game in Early Access I can get feedback which can help determine difficulty level and which (if any) additions the community would enjoy the most and which will end up in the final product.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 - 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final game MAY or MAY NOT contain some or all of the following elements depending on time, generated income from Early Access, and player interest based on feedback from Early Access. To be clear, this is a wish list, but not necessarily feasible or even necessary to play and enjoy the game.

-More arrival scene drawings and music
-More mini games and variety in mini games
-Ship and player upgrades
-Space Ship comm taunting
-More varied enemy ship Ai behaviours
-Crew discussions during travel
-Menu for viewing previously viewed arrival drawings and music
-More and different space mini games
-More and different FPS mini game types
-Reputation system
-Kids mode (disable violent parts)
-More in depth controller support. Show buttons based on type of controller (xbox, ps4, etc).

Please keep in mind I am not saying any and/or all these items will make it into the game. They are just things I'd like to see implemented depending on time, funds, and the amount of potential interest from the community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is fully playable from start to finish and a complete game in its own right.
I consider this the most basic form of the game that is fully playable and enjoyable. If the game was just what it is now, I would still be proud and happy with it. It just needs a bit more balance.

The features implemented in this version include:
-Travel to each planet along the hyperspace delivery route.
-Trade, purchase, sell supplies
-Manage supplies such as fuel, oxygen, food, health kits, and more
-Multiple FPS mini game types
-Multiple Space flying mini game types
-Repair your ship
-Rest your crew
-No temporary art work.
-30 minutes of original music
-Local high scores
-And much more!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price is lower during during early access but will go up to around $10 to $15 upon final release depending on how many new features are added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am hoping the community will share their experience with the game in detail so that I can use that feedback to help shape the balance and difficulty. I can also use the community's opinions to help shape both further development and the current and possible future mini games.”

New Version Uploaded: Early Acces 036

This is a smaller update but given the amount of work needed for the next content update I figured now was a good time to release a few more tweaks.

-Added 3 new CYOA event types during hyperspace travel. These will be shown at least 1 time a play through.
-Minor fix to try to solve very rare occurrence where key is hidden within another object in FPS levels.
-other minor tweaks/fixes not affecting game play.

Thats all the updates for this time. But keep in mind each CYOA event is a bit of work and will still be tweaked as we go on. More are on their way!

What is coming and when?
-4 new arrival scenes with music. These will take some time as it takes me some time to create the music for each of them so I may try to do 1 a week.

-FPS game variations: Radiation cleanup, Rescue abducted crew, Target challenge. Those are the ones I'm currently working on. Timeline for these may be 1 a week or so.

-Unique planet events. I have a list of a bunch of planets that will be getting unique events. Nothing grand mind you. But unique. These are probably a few weeks out behind the arrival scenes and FPS work. One thing to note is I'm building these as repeatable re playable events meaning they aren't a specific singular story events.

-Additional pirate ship models/Ai behaviors. This art is in the works and will be ready early - mid November. The behaviors will also take a little time to implement.

-More bridge character choices. Art will be made in the coming weeks.

Thanks for playing everyone!

Early Access Version 035 Uploaded

Early Access Version 035
-Fix FPS Ai leading target..there was a bug that made the Ai only able to hit you while you were still.

-Increase difficulty of FPS Ai.

-Tear in space will now only show up a certain amount of times throughout the game instead of purely random.

-FPS add variations on rewards or upgrades depending on what crewmember you chose. For example: science gets a personal shield, engineer finds parts, etc.

-New feature: Passengers. Can now be hired to carry passengers to planets. Random events with CYOA elements will have a chance at happening during travel while you have passengers aboard. These could be pirates looking to collect a bounty on your passenger, the passenger trying to take over the ship, the passenger helping with repairs, etc.

-More CYOA events added. These will happen randomly throughout hyperspace travel. If you are loading a saved game, it is highly unlikely you will see new events until you start a new game. More will continually be added as development continues. Also the balance of these to non CYOA events will be more balanced as development continues.

-various smaller bug fixes

What's next:
-More balancing of event types so you get different types more often. The newer CYOA types are out numbered currently and so will appear less often.

-Passenger balancing. Once some feedback and more testing occurs I will balance this section more

-New art!
I have 4 new planet introduction paintings ready to go. Next week I'll begin implementing them. They take a while to implement because I also have to create music to go along with them.

-More art for FPS will be coming as well as more bridge crewmember sprites to chose from. These will be a few weeks at least. Along with the new FPS art will be art to make new FPS event types.

Stay tuned and thanks for playing and supporting the game!

“...this looks like the kind of thing that would have warranted a massive cardboard box, at least three 3.5″ floppy disks and a chunky manual dense with evocative line-art and lore.”
