What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Now that we have a solid, fully 3D rocket simulator it's time to get the community involved. We have ideas for key features that we want to implement (such as a Planet Builder and Campaign Mode), but players have great ideas too and we want to include them in the development process and have time to react to those ideas.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to finish Early Access in mid-2019, though we are prepared to change this as we respond to player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include more parts, more planets, and modding support. We also plan to add a Planet Builder where players can build their own planets and share them online. Another key feature of the game will be a Campaign mode, which will provide a means of personal progression. At this point, we're not sure exactly what form it will take, but this is one area where we will be relying heavily on feedback from Early Access participants to help mold the final product.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is already a robust 3D rocket and airplane simulator with over 30 parts, multiple planets, several challenges, and much more. Please see the game's description for the complete list of features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players have great ideas and they're great at finding bugs, so we strive to make it as easy as possible for them to get in touch with us and contribute to the development process.

 • Players can submit their own ideas and upvote and comment on other players' ideas on our Suggestions page.
 • Forums - Steam Forums and the forums on SimpleRockets.com are a great way for players to get in touch with us for troubleshooting issues.
 • Bug Reports - Players can submit bug reports from within the game and include a screenshot and description. The more information they provide the more it will help us to identify and fix the issue.

Update 0.6.5.0 is now available

Thank you, everyone, for buying SimpleRockets 2! We have been working hard on fixing as many bugs as we can as fast as we can. I'm not sure that we've slept since release! It's always a humbling experience to release a game!

If you find any new issues with this release, please submit a bug report from within the game. Thanks for playing!

ENHANCEMENTS
 • Added What's New section to main menu.
 • Minor performance improvement with atmosphere rendering
 • Reduced efficiency and power of the RCS nozzles to be more realistic
 • Added heat shield to bottom of command pod in ParachuteLanding craft.
 • Improved Planned Burn gizmo sensitivity
 • Tweaked craft starting rotation and position on the Docking Practice challenge.
 • Added option to tweak the visibility of apsides in Map View
 • Tweaked loading screens
 • Added button to download crafts from the Designer

MAP VIEW BUG FIXES
 • Display the reason why a target cannot be set, and the name of the target when it is set.
 • Game will inform player if they click "Warp to next node" while the game is paused.
 • Fixed issue where mouse hover info (like apsides, add burn node icon) would show up for any orbits under the cursor while adjusting node, which there are usually at least two.
 • Fixed issue where closest encounter at mouse position would show for position under mouse as you were adjusting a burn node.
 • Fixed an issue with orbit rendering in Map View after docking with another craft
 • Fixed a bug that made it difficult to place Planned Burns at the apoapsis and periapsis of the player's orbit
 • Fixed issue w/orbit line text jiggling during warp.
 • Fixed issue where impact icon and all other icons may show when grounded.
 • Fixed pink orbit line bug.
 • Fixed bug where auto-burning could be updating from the wrong burn node when outside map view.
 • Fixed bug when targeting a planet when the craft is already indirectly in its SOI.
 • Fixed a bug where the Map View inspector would not update properly
 • Fixed bug which auto-orphaned burn nodes if they were added before the periapsis on hyperbolic orbits. The result of this bug effectively made it impossible to add burn nodes in some cases.

DESIGNER BUG FIXES
 • Improved handling of problematic symmetry XML
 • Hide fuselage vertical resize gizmo on end of a fuselage when it has parts connected there.
 • Fixed a bug where attach points were not hidden after creating a subassembly.
 • Fixed a bug with the craft parts list that could cause it to start throwing exceptions after a symmetric part was deleted.
 • Fixed a bug that caused parts to get stuck in the designer and become unable to move them
 • Fixed a bug that prevented mirroring from working correctly when the root part was rotated
 • Fixed bug that with the side interstage not mirroring correctly

OTHER BUG FIXES
 • Fixed a nasty bug that could cause gravity to appear to stop working, though it could also appear in many other forms. It was a super bug and I'm glad it has been slain. Thank you for everyone, espcially Mod, for helping us track this one down!
 • Improved the stability of landing legs
 • Fixed missing textures on Luna and other planets
 • Fixed texture scale and normal map issue on Luna, Droo, and Cylero
 • Fixed atmosphere on Urados
 • Fixed issue with planet atmosphere rendering of planets in scaled space
 • Slightly reduced the bloom effect
 • Fixed an issue where a craft would appear to teleport when time-warping on a nearly circular orbit.
 • Fixed a bug where detachers would disconnect parachutes (or any part with a rigid connection to them) when jettisoned.
 • Fixed nav-sphere rendering when it covers dark side of a planet in map view or flight view.
 • Fixed a bug that allowed loading craft/sandbox with CTRL+V when a textbox was selected.

About This Game

SimpleRockets 2 is a fully 3D space sim that lets you build rockets, airplanes, rovers, or anything you can imagine and explore highly detailed 3D planets. Upload your crafts and sandboxes and share them with the community to earn points. Join us as we enter Early Access and continue adding new features, such as the Planet Builder and Campaign Mode.

We want to make sure we are building a game that players will love, so if you have suggestions for the game, we want to hear them. Those who followed our work on SimplePlanes know that we are highly responsive to player feedback. We are taking this a step further with SR2 and have set up a Roadmap page to open up our development process and be as transparent as possible.

Build crafts by snapping parts together. Choose from the available engines, such as the Mage, which is a powerful kerosene-fueled engine. Or choose the very weak, but highly efficient Ion Engine. Or you can choose both. It's your craft! Nothing will stop you. Use interstages to split your craft into multiple stages to reach incredible altitudes. Piece together modular fairings to protect your precious cargo.

Launch multiple crafts into orbit. You can dock with your existing crafts to build space stations, moon bases, refueling stations, etc. Take photos of your journey across the solar system with the built-in Photo Library tool.

Stretch and shape fuel tanks, wings, cargo bays, fairings, and nose cones with easy-to-use tools that help you create exactly what you want. Resize solar panels, wheels, pistons, shocks, etc to fit your needs. Paint your craft custom colors and tweak their reflectiveness, emissiveness, and texture styles.

Rocket science is hard, so you might run into the occasional, rapid unscheduled disassembly (i.e. explosion). It happens to even the most experienced rocket surgeons. Might as well embrace it and take advantage of the opportunity to snag some spectacular photos.

Orbits are realistically simulated and support time-warp so you don't have to wait several months to reach another planet. The Map View makes it easy to see your orbits and plan future burns, which you can use to set up future encounters with other planets or satellites.

The flight model dynamically updates drag and lift characteristics of your craft as it changes. Re-entry effects kick in when you're screaming through an atmosphere at hypersonic speeds. Be careful, because the excessive heat can cause those aforementioned rapid unplanned disassemblies.

Download from a huge collection of user-uploaded crafts and sandboxes on our website. Upload your own crafts and sandboxes and share them with the community. Rise through the ranks from a white level builder to a gold level builder and beyond.
