What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As an Indie developer we've been working on Tennis Tune-Up for over a year and we've been able to take the simulation to an advanced state, but now I need the input of the community to take the simulation to the next level, to see what enhancements are meaningful to the community and fun to play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan on staying in Early Access until at least the next two stages of Tennis Tune-Up are complete and bug free. In addition to the Target Practice only version that is in the simulation now we plan to add Court Practice and Match Play as additional levels of play in the simulation. Six to twelve months is our current estimate of time to completion.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The ultimate goal of Tennis Tune-Up is a full blown simulation of real world tennis play. While in "Early Access" and going forward, Tennis Tune-Up will have ongoing support, feature additions and bug fixes. We plan support for the HTC Vive Tracker racket and our own custom rackets early in the upgrade process with the addition of a separate Court Practice module later. The Court Practice is within 95% of completion and will be offered immediately after the various racket functionality is added. Down the road a Match Play module is planned with AI opponents of various types and levels of play.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Tennis Tune-Up: Target Practice is fully playable in it's current state. With four types of targets, each varying in difficulty and Serve Practice a player can improve their forehand, backhand and serve in the simulation.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Purchasers of Tennis Tune-Up:Target Practice will have access to all future enhancements without additional cost. The price to new players will increase significantly when Court Practice is added, with all future enhancements free. When Match Play is added, new players will pay a higher, full price,”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community is critical to the development and success of Tennis Tune-Up. Our web site, Facebook page and our forum are all available for comments, suggestions and bug reporting. We need and value your input.”

Upgrades

We are starting to keep our promises: the two handed serve is here and you can go play in the park now!

About This Game

Tennis Tune-Up: City Park - The second step in the continuing development of a real world simulation of tennis action. We've added a two handed serve for more realism with a Club House height check, and a City Park scene for more variety. Tennis Tune-Up incorporates real world physics so that ball action and reaction is as good as it gets. Your voice commands take you to the action. In Tennis Tune-Up you "say what you see" to take control of the action. The Command Board in each scene gives you the voice commands to use.

The action starts in the Club House where you can view the video tutorials and then continue off to the stadium to practice or head out to the park for some action.

In the stadium or park you can have coach drop balls for you to hit at the targets or you can have the balls hit from across the court for rally practice. Move the targets in, earn points and develop your game. With "Practice Serve" you develop your ball placement in the forehand or backhand courts. Pick up points by bringing in targets and firing away!

In this latest upgrade we have added a two handed serve with one controller holding the racket and the other used to toss the ball. When you choose this option in the Club House you will test your play area to make sure you have enough head room. If you pass the test you'll be ready to do some serious serve practice.

There are many improvements and features in the future of Tennis Tune-Up that we are planning:
  • Support the Vive Tracker Racket that HTC has available. You'll have the same Club House height check when you choose this option.

  • A custom racket. We plan to have the custom racket available for purchase at a price less than the cost of a Vive Tracker.

  • A Court Practice scene is In the planning stage. This is a scene that lets you move around the court to practice your shots from various places on the court.

  • The Match Play Arena scene is planned for the near future. Take on AI players of different skill levels..
