What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We at Aerolab Studios are a dedicated three man team working hard to provide the best game we possibly can. With no funding and a seven month development cycle it has been a challenging but rewarding en devour. As a part of our early access community you will be the first to enjoy new key features and will have a direct impact on future expansions. We believe that this is a communal effort and want to involve early access players as much as possible. As a part of of our early access community you will be able to enjoy free Dead President tokens (our in game currency) on us as a token of our gratitude.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming to be in early access for no more than six months. This will provide us with enough time to gather valuable data and community feedback to better the playing experience for all.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Upon full release all aspects of the game will be running smoothly and any issues that may occur will be resolved. All downloadable content will be available to all players upon full release. New prison maps and characters will be added during and after early access along side new game modes and weapons. We hope to branch out and extend our reach to different console platforms.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At this stage, the game is fully functional with our base map completed. (Summer Heights correctional facility). The game runs smoothly graphically and otherwise. We believe the game is in a 'Finished state' and we look forward to the communities feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to chance the price of our game when it is released from early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Involving the community is a vital aspect of The Prison Experiment. We at Aerolabs are passionate gamer's at heart and understand how important the communities involvement is. We will have a dedicated community manager who will interact with fans via all popular social media platforms. We take the communities feedback very seriously at Aerolabs and strive to build a loyal and dedicated fan base.”

Update v1.1

To the fans whom we have let down,
We at Aerolab studios would like to apologise for the game we released. It is our regret that we released a product in a state which was not fully playable. As a new development team, we let our excitement get the better of us and for that there is no excuse. We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused and hope that you can find it within you to give us a second chance.
We are aware of the problems with finding servers with players and are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as we can. We want all players to be able to enjoy a rich gaming experience and we hope that you will be patient as we correct this issue.
Regarding the criticism surrounding animation, we are currently working on a major overhaul and plan to switch from third person to first person for the time being. We believe that making this switch will inevitably fix most of the problems with player movement and interactions with the environment. In the future we will of course allow for a toggle feature to give players a fuller playing experience.
As for map size, we plan on incrementally adding new features and areas to the map to create a desired map big enough for all game modes and meets the community requirements. We do ask for patience on this matter as it is a time-consuming endeavour which cannot be achieved overnight.
Weapon sounds is something we have been considering since early development and is still an issue that we are discussing. For the time being, gun sounds will remain the same but we assure you that as soon as we have resolved this issue we will introduce these too players as quickly as possible.
As for the future of The Prison Experiment we have big plans and hope to keep our promise of being a genre defining game. We want to be bigger and better than any other game in the market and want to build a loyal fanbase. We have many big plans that we hope excites fans. We are currently in the planning stage of introducing unique character attributes as to give players the ability to choose a play style which best suits them. As with any ‘perks’ in a game we are tweaking the pros and cons as to provide a balanced but custom playing experience for all. We want to stray away from the recipe that Battle Royale games follow and give the community a game they can have their voice heard. With new game modes, maps, weapons, and characters we hope to fulfil the gaming needs of all players.
Again, we would like to apologise for our mistakes and we appreciate all criticism as it only makes us strive to be better.
From all of us at Aerolab studios,
Matt Rafferty, Charlie Tinley, Chris Scoble

About This Game

In Summer Heights Correctional Facility, the government are using the prison to experiment on the inmates. As the prison population has been pushed to the brink the government have been pitting inmates against each other as apart of a psychological observation know as The Prison Experiment. With a ticket home and a pardon from the warden on the line, walking free has never cost so much!

The Prison experiment is a third person Battle Royale experience with a twist. You will be faced with a totally unique gaming experience designed to separate the strong from the weak.
This game is not just offering a fifty man free for all mode, we also offer different game modes for a truly immersive playing experience. We want players to get the full Battle Royal experience and more!

Features -

CLASSIC BATTLE ROYALE - This is what players have come to expect from a Battle royale game. Fifty players enter the game but only one can claim the victory. Be sure to keep moving though as cell blocks will begin to close off and you will left trapped with no way out.

KING OF THE CELL BLOCK - This is our take on a classic game mode. Fifty players are spawned randomly in five sectors of the map. Each five sections will have their own last man standing fight and the winners of each section are pushed into the sixth and final location of the map. The last five players standing will fight again, and the winner will take home the victory.

Stats - Player state are hosts on our dedicated servers
