Why Early Access?

“Windfall is Early Access because it is an open world-exploration type simulator. Similar to other great Early Access games such as Kerbal Space Program and Hotdogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Windfall is going to receive regular updates to its content as development progresses. The game will have the core features to sailing and then will be filled with content as Early Access proceeds.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Windfall will probably be in Early Access for about a year as features are continuously added and developed.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Windfall will be focused on getting the mechanics of sailing correct and ensuring people have fun sailing a limited number of boats around. Later versions will expand on the boat selection and the world types that players can sail. There may even be some adventure component to the non-Early Access game!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Windfall currently has the basics of sailing complete. The physics for floating, ropes and sails are all implemented. It also has multiplayer ready, allowing you to sail with strangers and friends alike. There is a single large 10km wide map with various stuff to find. You can set up races with other sailors all online.

The core of the game is there and as early access proceeds, the updates will focus on content and optimization for the game. Subtle things like sails interacting with each other due to wind will be done by the end of Early Access (hopefully). Other stuff will be released, such as new boats, new maps, more game modes and perhaps a survival mode!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Upon exit from Early Access, the game's price will probably increased from between 50% and 100% (or up to double).”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Windfall already has an extensive development blog at the 8Bit Goose Games YouTube channel. Interested people can leave comments and suggestions on the videos that are published. Also, players of the game can use the Steam Forums to contribute suggestions, point out flaws / bugs and direct the progress of the game!”
