What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Legendary Eleven is playable and has many features but it's still missing some important features we don't want the game to ship without. We thought this was an ideal opportunity for Legendary Eleven to evolve and be polished with feedback from the community while we're adding the final touches to the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're expecting Legendary Eleven to have its final release in early September, which means it may spend 3-4 months in Early Access. Anyway, this is just the minimum. If we feel the game may benefit from a few extra months in Early Access, polishing and balancing we will not release the final version of the game until it's ready. We're in no rush to get the game out and we only want to release it when we feel it's ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are 2 main features we plan to develop while the game is in Early Access:
  • Mythical Matches: This is a new game mode where you're put in a position in the middle of a game that roughly represents an old game that made history and you have to either repeat history or change history. It's basically a set of challenges based on historical games.
  • Online Multiplayer: We want to implement online multiplayer on top of local multiplayer, which is already supported. Doing so is not an easy task, but we're committed to including it because we feel it can improve the game quite a lot.
These 2 features are the main things we're expecting to change while in Early Access but these are definitely not the only ones. We'll try to publish a roadmap we have set ourselves for the first few months in Early Access. Please, bear in mind this roadmap is an estimate of what we can achieve, it's definitely bound to change as the game progresses and moves along in Early Access. We'll try to update the roadmap along with the different game updates.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

Legendary Eleven is playable and has the different cups (our 'campaign mode') and the friendly game (which allows you to play against the AI or a friend in the same machine) game modes working. You may encounter bugs every now and then but we've done our best to fix all we've seen and we're committed to doing the same with the bugs reported by the community.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will not change when the game leaves early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're really open to suggestions from the community. The main reason to go into Early Access is to be able to shape the game according to what players really want and what best way to do that than asking them! We'll try to be active in the forums answering any questions, suggestions or reports you may have and we'll try to have regular updates so that you can see we're listening to you and updating the game accordingly.”

Online Multiplayer in default branch

Hi,

How you doing? I have a relatively big update, if you haven't read the forums as of lately, the game has now online multiplayer in the main branch. We have had online multiplayer for a few weeks in the beta branch but have decided to move it to the default branch to try to get more people to give it a go.

The game mode is mostly thought for playing online with friends but you can try your luck online, although it's going to be really hard to find online opponents at the moment.

The game mode is still in beta so, please, let us know if you find anything weird or any errors while playing online. If you can record the errors when you see them that would be awesome, but just letting us know of what issues you encounter will help us greatly.

Hope you enjoy the new option and don't forget to let us know your opinion in the forums.

Best regards,
Eduardo

Update 3.5

Hi,

So we've decided to drop a bunch of improvements in between major updates because we feel they are very important, they include quite a few bugfixes for stuff we screwed in our last update and because they are mostly trying to be a response to your feedback and we'd like to hear from you again to know if you like the game better like this.

So, let me list the stuff we've added in this update (btw, the update has been posted both to the beta and normal branches so no matter whether you're playing online or offline you should see these):

  • New Legendary Games. We've added 6 new Legendary Games (some based on your suggestions) to reach a total of 20 Legenday Games which is a reasonable amount, IMO. As usual, feel free to leave your feedback on them.
  • Super Shots can now be disabled before a game or championship. Some of you have stated that Super Shots are OP and don't particularly like them. Now you can play the game without them if you want. Please let us know if there's something you'd like changed here.
  • Added lobbed pass through which can be executed pressing the modifier and the pass-through button.
  • Improved cross pass. When doing a cross pass from the sides of the pitch towards the attacking area the pass will be directed forward so that the attacker has to move and shoot not just stay there waiting for defenders to surround him. I believe this makes scoring that way a lot easier and more fun.
  • Improved shooting when the ball is idle. Right now shooting in the attacking area is a lot easier and smoother. We're trying to make sure that when you press B, even if you don't have the ball yet, the game understands you want to shoot as soon as you have the ball.
  • Improved sliding tackle so that it's easier to do in some occasions (for instance to steal a pass). We've also tweaked the stamina consumptions of both the steal and sliding tackle actions.
  • Improved positioning of players in throw ins to avoid them clumping together in an unnatural and useless way.
  • Slightly tweaked ball and player behaviour in raining and snowy levels. The ball now runs a bit slower in those levels and players tire a bit more easily to try to simulate the weather conditions better.
  • Bugfix: Issues with the stickers used by certain teams. We've also updated the teams that take place in the Legendary Game which were all over the place due to the last update.
  • Bugfix: Player names with non-English letters were showing incorrectly. Now they are showing just fine.

As usual, we'd like to hear from you. What do you think of the new changes? What stuff would you like to see improved further? What stuff do you like the best/worst from the game? What's your experience with online multiplayer (if you've tried it)? etc.

Best regards,
Eduardo
