What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our players and fans have been an invaluable resource for us since the beginning of this project. We’ve always tried to get the game into their hands as soon as possible, through attending events, releasing a free demo and sharing development across social media and Discord.

We’re now looking to supercharge the development process and take it to the next level. We believe HyperParasite is a perfect match for Early Access by its own nature. The game features lots of different character classes, items/skills, secrets levels and more, thus making it incredibly re-playable. We’re looking to gather as much player feedback as possible on all aspects of the game so we can deliver a superior title at full release.

We look forward to welcoming players to the development process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

HyperParasite won’t be in Early Access forever. We aim to release the full game in either Q3 or Q4 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add the following:

  • Lots more playable character classes, each with its own unique attacks and gameplay style
  • Dozens of skills and items
  • Other main levels
  • Additional sub-levels
  • More secret rooms
  • More mini-bosses
  • More deranged bosses

The game will keep evolving during the Early Access period and we’ll consider it final only once everything is fully balanced.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build contains

  • Dozens of different playable character classes
  • 3 main levels
  • 4 sub-levels
  • X secret rooms
  • 10 different mini-bosses
  • 3 deranged bosses
  • Single Player / Co-Op modes

All core mechanics have been implemented, but we still need feedback from players to better balance stats and values.

Players may experience some bugs and glitches here and there, but the game is in a fully playable state, and we’ll work hard to fix any problem that may arise.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price for the full release is expected to be higher than the price for Early Access.

We’ll be incrementally increasing the price during Early Access phase and this will correspond with the new content (characters, levels, etc.) updates, thus reaching full price once the game is ready to be released.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Alongside our Community Manager and Co-Publisher (Hound Picked Games), our development team will be actively and directly interacting with the community via Steam Forums, User Groups, Social Media and Discord. All feedback will be considered on merit and the community will be keep up to date regularly.

About This Game

It’s the 80’s all over again. Only this time, the human race has more than an obnoxious pop culture to contend with.

With World War III nearing its demise, Earth only just begins to catch its breath when it is threatened by yet another menace. Unlike the preposterous mullets of its inhabitants however, this one’s invisible – a parasitic organism capable of making hosts of unsuspecting human beings, consuming what’s left of their souls and wreaking unfathomable havoc.

And it’s spreading. With a vengeance.

Martial laws have been declared to make way for a global hunt, battle-hardened law enforcers have made allies of the most degenerate of criminals, while the rest of the world is paralysed with paranoia; yet who can be trusted? Who can see it, let alone destroy it? That’s for them to worry about. For you are the enemy.

You are the organism with a mission. You are… HyperParasite.

Snatch. Zap. Repeat.

Relentless top-down, shoot ‘em up action!
Being able to snatch the bodies of nearly every weapon-wielding homosapien you encounter ensures bullet hell almost never ceases.

Intelligent zapping!
A happy trigger-finger alone won’t suffice; multiple character classes, host-specific abilities and a skill-based progression system means you’ll be working to one-up the human race even without bullets.

Extreme level re-playability
Procedurally generated levels, multiple game-play objectives, grueling waves of enemies and deranged bosses, all while the possibility of perma-death looms; prepare to die. A lot.

…perpetuated by a unique 3D-pixelated art style, absurdly bright neons, obnoxious styling and robotic synthesizer sounds. It’s the roaring 80’s alright, with a dash of dystopia.
