Patch 1.4 delayed a week

Good morning team!

A heads up that we are making some changes for April patches. There was a patch due out today, that was initially planned for some optimization updates.

In the past weeks we have received two major feature requests that we want to implement sooner rather than later:

  • Controller support
  • Custom keybindings

I want to make sure that we implement these well in the next patch, and in order to give me time to do that I am delaying patch 1.4 to April the 5th.

Additionally, since we are out of launch month and all the small post-launch issues are dealt with and the game is stable, we will be moving away from weekly updates to two-weekly updates.

Patch notes will come out on Wednesdays every other week, and the patch itself will come out the Friday of that week.

best regards

Patch 1.3 Patch Notes - The Crafting Patch

Good afternoon all!

Patch 1.3 goes live on Wednesday the 20th of March. It combines a host of features announced in patch 1.2 Notes as well the additions mentioned in these notes.

This is a massive update to the released Chapters 1 and 2 and starting a new game will be required. This is the only time this will happen, and my apologies in advance for any inconvenience.

The full Patch 1.2 Notes can be found here.

Our goals with this build
The traveling craftsmen, Klara Finursdotter - a renowned potion maker and herbalist, and her husband Sigvard Josefsson - a noted Bowyer and Fletcher - have come to town.

Features

  • New crafting recipes have been added.

Improvements

  • The Jorgensen Crypt has been redesigned and improved.
  • Quest and Story triggers have been streamlined

Happening in Jordenheim
The North Bridge has been down for some weeks while the Militia have been investigating the cause of the Shroud creatures invading the habitated lands more frequently than before.

Alarming and sketchy reports are coming in, that the attacks from wild creatures are getting more numerous and that some have been seeing heading into the Vallentuna area.

Over the coming weeks, the Jarl has announced that greater security measures will be taken on the roads in the region and to expect more guards around the town of Vallentuna and the North Bridge exit as well.

Bugfixes
  • Boss AI issues that stopped enemies from attacking have been resolved.

About This Game

Discover Jordenheim. A Viking inspired world with lush environments, a flourishing ecology, and deep characters as you immerse yourself in a third person RPG adventure that challenges you with exploration, puzzles and strategic combat as you work your way through our engaging story.

Astrid our heroine, is a young village Witch, toeing the line between old-school Viking magic and the encroachment of modernization on her culture and civilization. Old magic has fled the main parts of Sverige and the Nordic regions are under threat from foreign economic interests and belief structures alike. In her village of Guilon, on the outskirts of the Shrouded Realm, Astrid and her mother live a life of outcasts from the main Village.

An unforeseen and terrible turn of events causes her to need to reach out to her estranged Father, Birger the Bastard, an old-school Viking hero of yore - with whom she has no relationship at all. Thus begins our adventure of danger, exploration, and self-discovery as Astrid and Birger set out to unearth the source of these events, while at the same time finding common ground between themselves and forging a lasting father-daughter relationship.

The Gameplay
The gameplay in Blood Bond is a third person RPG that prioritizes storytelling and exploration in a lush world. Combat exists, it's driven by story and goals and can often be hard. You do not need to master complex combat to play the game well, but we do want to make combat a meaningful encounter that is challenging. A lot of secondary combat can be skipped if that is not your thing. You can level your charachter doing everything from hunting to crafting and exploration as well as through combat.

Expect to see environmental based jumping puzzles, complex multi-level storylines to discover, crafting and item enhancement.

Who is This Game For?
  • Veteran single player RPG enthusiasts: will find a deep story and enough character growth and complexity to satisfy them
  • First-time casual gamers looking to get into an RPG: will find a game that does not require you to sink 100 hours into it to enjoy it

What Game is this Like
Think more Horizon Dawn and less Dark Souls. More Witcher and less God of War. Combat is available in plenty but NOT the focus of this game. We want you to discover Jordenheim, genuinely live out the story of Astrid and embrace the world.

How We Want You To Experience The Game
Blood Bond is being released in an episodic chapter style, where you experience chapters of content over time until the story is completed. Each chapter updates the main game and is not a DLC and will not cost extra. Every chapter is free after the first purchase.

We want you to experience the game like a good limited edition tv series, where you can fire up the game and enjoy a changing game over time, with timed events and special side quests - every month. Every two months the main storyline will evolve in a new episode, but in between, you will see world events and secondary quests happening - despite you having completed the chapter that is live at any given time.

We have a number of good reasons why we are doing it that way, and we created an FAQ in our Steam Community page to explain it all to you. Please do feedback to us on this release style.

Once our 8-month live schedule completes, the then completed definition of the game will be available for gamers buying the game after that time, but no more live event updates will occur. It will be possible to play through all the chapters and enjoy it as a static, completed game world after the live period is completed.
