What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Blood Bond is a story-driven adventure RPG. The key elements of making a game like that work is to have the following pillars as thorough as possible:

  • A deep storyline
  • Strong unique line art inspired visuals that drive emersion in the game
  • A complex and engaging main character
  • Story focused, but dramatic and exciting combat

We have spent 18 months developing this game so far and its time to open up the development to our future fans and gaming community to provide feedback and tell us if we have nailed the above pillars.

W.R.K.S Games has transparency as one of our core company pillars and providing access to our game development process and results is how we deliver on that promise. Closed BETA testers were instrumental in defining performance, visual style and level design. We hope that the Early Access community will continue that engagement with us.

Important Note: Early Access is for those of you who want to be part of the development process of the game. We will be releasing about 40% of the game through Early Access so expect spoilers as part of this process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for as short a period as possible, but the goal here is to ensure that game is ready when launched and also to have enough time to ensure early adopters are allowed the time needed to genuinely influence the game development with their feedback.

We expect the full game to launch in early 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The early access will contain around 40% of the final game. It will also include all core systems, that we will be testing with the early access community.

Available during Early Access:

  • About 40% of the main quest story line will be released in stages
  • Full crafting and gathering system
  • Side quests
  • Combat system for boss fights
  • Ledge Climbing and platforming system
  • Puzzles system

Available only after final launch:

  • Full game all the way to the ending
  • Full game storyline
  • Cinematics and movies

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A very playable BETA of the introductory portion of the game. The game is in a polished state and fully tested. We do not expect our Early Access fans to be our testers, just to be able to experience and provide actually finished game system feedback for iteration and evolution.

Any build we release to Early Access should be expected to be bug free.

Features Available Now:

  • The tutorial levels showing gameplay mechanics, initial storyline and starting zones
  • 2 combat abilities
  • Gathering systems and basic potion crafting
  • Basic combat systems mechanics
  • First boss fight

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes the game is priced at an aggressive discount during Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback channels are provided through our Discord and social media channels to reach out to us and an Early Access fans only feedback form will also be provided.”

Blood Bond Early Access Patch 0.3 Notes and Feedback

Good afternoon all!

The pre-Xmas patch of Blood Bond is upon us! Patch 0.3 will be live on Early Access on the 20th of December.

Our goals with this build
Feedback from the community was instrumental in the upgrades made in the last patch and they continue to be the driver of this patch's upgrades as well. Although the last patch was about performance and playability improvements, this patch is now about features.

Core to this patch is the addition of the dialogue and quest improvements, as well as better level design for clarity and mapping for navigation.

We have a lot of features yet to release in the game and you can find out live feature planner on the Trello board linked below.

  • New Dialogue system implemented
  • Level design improved for clearer pathing to goals
  • Lighting and Shadows improved
  • System Preferences and Settings added
  • Wider selection of resolutions added to support widescreen formats
  • Launch menu and starting menu screen added
  • Climbing improved
  • Mapping and Navigation System improved
  • Quest log added

How to Play
Go slow and enjoy the game. Explore, discover, embrace the content. This is a single player RPG, the world and the lore matter.

Hotfix version 0.2a published

Good Sunday community!

I have posted a small hotfix to our latest patch today and its live on Steam now. It fixes these things:

a) A part of the map you should have been able to get to was open, and that has now been closed off

b) Resolution settings options have been added to the Game Settings panel.

c) A glitch in the main intro video that caused one part of the animated comic to not transition correctly has been fixed.

d) Procedural foliage generation has been improved

e) Mouse clicking was enabled during the intro comic, that has now been disabled

f) Ledge climbing has been improved but still requires more work that I will leave to a later patch. The current changes remove some of the frustrations with collision that bogged down this feature before.

Happy Gaming and the new patch will be out before XMAS :)

About This Game

Discover Jordenheim. A Viking inspired world with lush environments, a flourishing ecology, and deep characters as you immerse yourself in a third person RPG adventure that challenges you with exploration, puzzles and strategic combat as you work your way through our engaging story.

Astrid our heroine, is a young village Witch, towing the line between old-school Viking magic and the encroachment of modernization on her culture and civilization. Old magic has fled the main parts of Sverige and the Nordic regions are under threat from foreign economic interests and belief structures alike. In her village of Guilon, on the outskirts of the Shrouded Realm, Astrid and her mother live a life of outcasts from the main Village.

An unforeseen and terrible turn of events causes her to need to reach out to her estranged Father, Birger the Bastard, an old-school Viking hero of yore - with whom she has no relationship at all. Thus begins our adventure of danger, exploration, and self-discovery as Astrid and Birger set out to unearth the source of these events, while at the same time finding common ground between themselves and forging a lasting father-daughter relationship.

Join us in Jordenheim to enjoy a single player adventure that mixes puzzle, exploration and RPG genres to give you a gaming experience that will both delight and enrich you with surprises, an emotional story-line and tactical game-play to keep you amused for a good many hours.
