Overdue update!

Hi All! - Hope you're enjoying TetraLogical!

Just a quick update to say that whilst I've been slowly (very slowly! :( ) implementing this new pieces logic, I've also been adding other requested features...

So, once I get this trickier update out with better end game puzzle mode pieces help, you will shortly afterwards have:-

Simply, on EVERY level, if you exit your game, it will SAVE (or update) your progress on that level - effectively letting you tackle ANY level when you have a few minutes to chip away at it! - Like some of the larger challenges!

Note:- The save game format and SAVING logic is pretty much sorted, I just need to restore saved games and set up the game to continue from it, which I'm currently working on.

Using this, you will be able to resume ANY game type, for ANY level, at any point! (Solo, Vs, Standard, Blitz, Puzzle, etc!).

Of course, continuing a BLITZ mode game will mean that it's difficult to immediately jump back in and get your head around where you left it, so the game will give you a couple of seconds' pause before restarting the BLITZ countdown timer!

User level deletion, via a simple button on the LEVEL EDITOR screen. Simply navigate to a level that you don't want any more, then once on-screen, click the DELETE / TRASH button (this will of course only show for USER CREATED levels!). You'll then get a chance to cancel, and clicking YES will completely delete that level.

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER is of course also on the cards still, I just have to get the basics out of the way first, and once I DO get this in, you can be sure to find me looking for some competition! - I've no doubt that some of you more experienced TetraLogical players will soundly beat me at my own game, so to speak! ;)

Anyway, that was it everyone! - I just needed to touch base and give you all an update, to let you know that an update is imminent, although it's taken longer than I'd hoped due to the complexity of changing the pieces allocation logic, and because of day job weekend IT projects I had to help with... :(

Better help for Puzzle Mode endgame, plus some other fixes, almost ready for release!

More help in PUZZLE MODE!:-

We've REALLY optimised the CPU help for the endgame in Puzzle Mode! - The computer will now do it's best to help allocate the best mix of pieces for up to 28 free Tile Slots / SEVEN possible pieces away from the end of a Puzzle completion attempt!... :)

As it's thinking harder, although it's generally pretty fast (less than 1/4 of a second to 1/2 second, to work those out), due to the random nature of shape placements and calculations for each scenario / board state, it can sometimes take a bit longer - so we've now added a 'BUSY' cursor and message (instead of freezing the cursor!), for those times when it's taking a little longer (generally a second or two, but can possibly be up to 4 or 5 seconds absolute max on rare occasions).

Note that while it's calculating the best pieces for you, your GAME CLOCK will be frozen, indicated by turning RED. ie. Your game completion time/speed will NOT be affected if it takes a little longer to help you out! :)

Bugs and Enhancements!:-

  • Added more relevant End Game messages for PUZZLE MODE End Game!:- "SOLVED!" and "UNLUCKY!"...
  • Fixed a silly bug on the PUZZLE MODE Percentage Scoring! - Now correct!
  • Added an easier to read splash screen... :)
  • Some other little bug fixes and tweaks that I managed to do, along the way!

“The Steam leaderboards and achievements will keep some people occupied for a long time. Currently in Early Access with a motivated and very friendly developer, I hope to see good changes in the time to come. The $4.99 USD price tag is pretty reasonable too, given what clearly is a game that has some unique thought and strategy built-in.”

“A really fun and challenging game"... ..."Great visuals"... ..."If you are looking for a numbers based puzzle game, with a good sound track, then this might be worth you checking out. Also has a level editing mode.”

About This Game

A turn-based slotting in / strategy game with a BIG twist!

Play either solo (un-timed, or against the clock, or even the addictive new BLITZ!, LIMITED MOVES, and PUZZLE modes!), or against up to 3 CPU *or* Human players.

Take turns to place your pieces onto the board, trying to score the maximum points you can with your current piece, each turn. (and in TIMED modes, in as fast a time as you can for bonus points, and be quick! - or you may lose your turn...)

BIG points are not the ONLY way to play the game - you can also play sneakily (as well as strategically) too, to stop your opponents from getting a better score, or force the end of the game by blocking potential moves by your opponents! - Once the board is exhausted, if enabled, a one-time DOWNFALL can turn the tide, and create a few more moves!

  • Tetraminos - but used in a never-before-seen way to strategically play / fight for the highest score/best move!
  • A selection of over 100 (so far!) unique board layouts already included to play on already (with more being added, up to the planned limit of nearly 500, including the best from the community!)
  • A built-in Level Editor! - A layout creation editor is already included inside the game, to amend or create up to 500 of your own layouts/levels to play immediately, or even for submission, community rating and incorporation into regular (and of course, *FREE*) extra levels packs coming soon!).
  • Some VERY sneaky CPU opponents - 21 of them, to be exact! ;)
  • VERSUS STANDARD (Human or CPU opponents), RELAXED or TIMED game mode - Try to beat your friends (or the CPU players!) on any given level!
  • SOLO STANDARD RELAXED or TIMED game mode - Try to beat your best efficiency/scores for any given level!
  • SOLO BLITZ MODE! - Try to get the best scores for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10 minutes on the clock, with more time being awarded for GREAT scoring moves!
  • SOLO LIMITED MOVES MODE! - Try to get the best scores for a starting amount of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 or 100 MOVES, with free moves being awarded for GREAT scoring moves!
  • *NEW!* SOLO PUZZLE MODE! - Try to completely complete each of the 90+ unique PUZZLE mode layouts, by cleverly placing your allocated pieces without leaving yourself stuck before you reach 20 remaining empty tile slots! - Great for a relaxed diversion from the standard TetraLogical number crunching gameplay! - Leaderboard rankings are also given for a completed puzzle, and if you've complete it quickly, you may well find you have the top spot!
  • SOCIAL/COMPETITIVE mode - Try to beat your friends and a selection of 21 (so far) intelligent CPU opponents with varying skill levels and styles of play.
  • Music Jukebox and a selection of 14 superb music tracks from SKAVEN to play along to, for added ambience!
  • Once-per-game, end game DOWNFALL, to mix the endgame up a bit, in STANDARD MODE (Active all of the time in BLITZ and LIMITED MOVES modes!).
  • Includes a HUGE selection (1,000's!) of Leaderboards to challenge, and already has almost 100 *meaningful* Stats & Achievements for skillful playing included, some easier, some harder, some VERY hard to get (and some just plain quirky / thinking outside the box!), and CPU beating! (the final game will feature around 200 *meaningful* achievements to get, with a few of the quirkier ones being hidden until achieved!)

...More to be added, along with many more game modes!

Give it a try! - If you love strategy or puzzle games, cerebral challenges, either SOLO or beating your friends or the computer on them, I think you'll like it as it stands, and certainly with what I intend to add to it!
