What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe in developer transparency, which is why we want to grant our fans with the opportunity to gain access to our current work in progress. We post patches every two weeks, if not more frequently, and want our community to help us shape the future of Sail and Sacrifice.

All funds received from pre-order will fund additional development before release. Every penny we collect before the final release will go straight into development!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Sail and Sacrifice to be in Alpha until April 2018 and then Beta until a month before release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

Alpha is intended to discover bugs, get feedback on mechanics, design and any other game aspects as well as gauge our fans' favorite features as to polish what's most important. It includes one main island and several others.

Beta is intended to contain most of the main story content minus major plot points, cinematics and anything that would spoil the main plot. It will be our main source of play-testing for minor glitches and game-breaking exceptions that are difficult to identify without a mass of testers.

The final release will feature any story not concluded in the beta as well as any improvements, bug fixes, polish or redesigns that players recommend post beta development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the game is in Beta version for our fans who pre-ordered the final game on Steam. Not all of the story content is implemented so we can save some of our surprises for the release version. We want to collect as much feedback as possible from our pre-order play-testers to improve the final product.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pre-orders of the game will have a 20% discount compared to the launch price.
Beta access will cost 20-40% more than the final title on launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We intend to listen to all of our fans' constructive criticism and take their experiences into account when designing and developing Sail and Sacrifice. We hope that our players give us as much feedback as possible, be it general suggestions/concerns or tiny bugs, so that we may create the best game for our dedicated audience.”

Enormous World

We carefully craft each part of our world to provide a unique and memorable gameplay experience. Each corner of the world should feel interesting to explore with new challenges at every location. The tribe and pirate specific architecture placed around the mountains and shorelines are filled with life, history, and opportunity.

The single player experience is immersed in the feud between pirates, privateers, and natives that develops based on your decisions. Explore the dozens of beautiful islands and converse with characters of all backgrounds to delve deeper into the cultures and deities spread throughout The Archipelago.

Rich Narrative

Our extensive backstory covers the history of the Kalinago tribes, how pirates came to inhabit the land, and fantastical mysteries for the player to uncover. Here's a taste of the Kalinago history:

Hundreds of years ago, many Kalinago were lost at sea while fleeing from the Spanish. They shipwrecked in The Archipelago where they began to prosper thanks to Arkanaguno, the volcano god, who provided them with soil.

A century later, glaciers formed and the prosperity of the islands was ravaged by frost. Many natives began worshipping Solwe, the sun god, in place of Arkanaguno, believing he was angered by their abandonment of him for the volcano god. Thus, the Kalinago religion fractured into two separate sects.

Once the glaciers melted, ocean storms began to regularly destroy the prosperous ecosystem. Once again, theistic debate arose over the origin of these acts, and some Kalinago began to deify Buwanu, the moon god.

While the shamans of each sect disagree on which god should be worshipped by the Kalinago, they all share one universal truth: that life is cyclical. The circle of life remains an essential aspect of each of these three faiths.

Powerful Technology

We use Unreal Engine 4 to build Sail and Sacrifice. Thanks to its high quality graphics, AAA software, and large community, we are able to create an immersive world for the player to freely roam, battle, and conquer. The terrain, foliage, day/night cycles, and lighting all contribute to the atmosphere of the vast world.
