What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access is the best way for me to release ZEROCAR: Future Motorsport as it allows players to let me know how they feel about the game while it's being developed. Your feedback on the car handling, user interfaces, visuals and the general game design will help me bring the game to completion through it's Early Access phase.

Whilst I have a clear idea of what the final game will be I know that the community will have amazing ideas and suggestions that will elevate the finished product.

With your support I can continue add new tracks, cars, modes and features!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I anticipate that the game will be in Early Access until late-2020 at least, as there are lots of things I'd like to add, and there will be many things I expect to change.

As I am developing the game myself certain aspects of development may take longer than you might expect from other Early Access games. As such, I must ask for your understanding regarding the time frame of certain game updates. However, one of my main concerns in the Early Access phase is to release updates as regularly as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of ZEROCAR will contain more cars, modes and tracks, as well as improvements to game performance and stabiity.

I would like the final release to have at least 8 cars, 8 tracks and additional modes. The Steam leaderboard system will be fleshed out to include friend's times.

One of the major advantages of an Early Access release, is that your ideas and suggestions could make it into the game!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The initial release of ZEROCAR features the following:

- Time Trial mode
- Three cars, each with six liveries
- Nine locations, with tracks split into to two categories:
- ROAD (Rally Style point to point events) - 12 Routes across 2 Locations - Nevada and Switzerland.
- CIRCUIT (Lap based circuit events) - 8 Routes across 4 Locations - UK, Austria, Columbia and Nevada
- Customizable driver - Customise Helmet liveries, HANS device and suit colour
- Steam Leaderboard support
- Custom Time of Day - Morning, Day, Evening, Night
- XP system, rewarding players with licences based on their experience and skill”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As the game is expanded and more content is added throughout it's development the price will be increased to reflect the size of the game. This increase is necessary as it allows me to continue developing and expanding the game through to completion.

Once players have purchased the game they are not required to pay any more money to receive updates or to play the final game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“It's important for me to know what people enjoy and dislike about the game, as it will have a large impact on crafting the game through to the completed release. I don't want to make content and features that people won't enjoy, so let me know what you want more of in the forums.

It's also vital for me to know how the game runs on people's machines. I have a limited pool of testing computers, and Early Access allows me to see how the game runs and where it may need optimisation and fixes.

I would also like to include the community and have them suggest car types, locations and modes.”
