Why Early Access?

“From the start Uagi-Saba development has been made public through daily Twitch Streams and since then has become very community oriented. Over the past two years the community that has grown around Uagi-Saba now plays a keys part in it's development. Uagi-Saba is also a very modular game, new mechanics and content can easily be added without obstructing the core game play. I'ts ready to see the world but still has plenty of growing left to do, I want it in the hands of players and through feedback hopefully Uagi can become an even better experience before it's full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Uagi-Saba will be in Early Access anywhere from 3-6 months during which I will be releasing weekly/monthly patches that will include new content, mechanics and bug fixes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The biggest difference will be progression to a game ending and a mystic skill system that allows the player to do so. Other content that will be added during EA in the form of small patches will include new mystic body parts, rooms, mutations, artifacts, lore books and new mechanics.”

The Next Few Months

The Rundown

Been working hard lately on the next big patch for Uagi and I wanted to run some things by players. This is not a patch but an announcement to discuss the plans for Uagi in the next few months, a road map some would call it.

My current goal is to release Uagi into Steam Full Access November 30th, this may still change but I am pretty set on this goal. Very excited. :)

The next big patch will be released either mid or end October depending on how things go. I also plan to do a second patch a couple weeks before full release, this will include the final end game content and should be rolling in mid November.

Uagi-Saba has now officially been in development 894 Days (2.4) years.

Upcoming Patch Content

I really want to take my time with this one so I can squeeze in a lot of new content. The next patch will be an optional update for the player and will include the following.

New And Improved Body Part Color System

Previously Mystics had three color genes that determined their overall skin pigment (covering the whole body). Now with the use of a helpful extension I am able to color individual body parts! This is something I have wanted since the start of development. Now each body part has it's own three unique color genes that determine its color. This makes for some pretty amazing color combinations and every player is guaranteed to have a completely unique mystic.

New Room Biomes

I will be introducing new room biomes with the next patch. Chiseled stones and vines make up this lovely new set of rooms. These will have their own unique set of object spawns.

Balance Of Resource Management And Creature Care

Resource management has started to become a bit more important than creature breeding in terms of balance. Uagi-Saba is a creature breeding game and I want it to feel more that way. some have said there is too much running around/busy work and that leaves less time for breeding and other things. I completely agree and I'm working on making changes to help with this. Though I still want there to be a challenge I don't want it too hard to hatch a few mystics and have a good time without stressing about resources and timers too much.

New Mystic Skill System

The player will be able to teach each of their mystics one of three skills depending on if mystics have the required stats. The skills are "Smash", "Repair" and "Decipher" and all will be needed to proceed to end game. Though the next patch will not have the game ending the player will still be able to teach and use skills.

Other Notable Changes

-Improved and expanded tutorial.
-New Mystic body parts.
-Balance changes to resources and other game mechanics.
-More lore, computer logs and more to read.
-A variety of new cave plants will be added in the next patch, more life and movement to sanctuary.

Crank the Heat, Patch Notes

Greetings, UG Here

Coming to you with a small patch. Though small still very important as I have completely scrapped the old temperature system. The new one is much easier to understand and should make the game more enjoyable. Let's be honest Uagi-Saba is not a furnace simulator and in the end I don't want it to be the focus of the game. I was going to wait till I had the skill system completely working for this patch but I wanted to get the new temperature system out to the players.

I have also added three new back pieces to the mystic gene pool, added some polish to various assets and have made a few bug fixes.

A little more on the new temperature system

Furnaces now only have one temperature level instead of three and rather than have all kinds of ups and downs in temperature there is only one increase/decrease per cycle. The temperature difference that will take place is now shown to the player in the HUD so they now how much it will increase or decrease per cycle. I have removed the "Kelvin" temps from the HUD and now only Fahrenheit and Celsius remain. Long story short it is a much easier system to understand and should remove some of the frustrations some players have been having. Fill your furnaces, wait for the change in temp to be displayed then make changes accordingly.

Coming Soon

The next patch should be pretty hefty as it will contain the new mystic skill system, very excited about this as it will ultimately let the player progress to endgame. The player will be able to teach their mystic skills based on the stats their mystic is born with. The player can then use skills to smash large rocks, reveal secrets, decipher ancient texts and repair old computers to get closer to end game.

Patch List Below

-Re-arranged the main player HUD a tad.
-Fixed bug crash involving the new furnace buttons.
-Removed old temp system.
-Furnaces now only have one temperature stage.
-Removed Kelvin from the HUD.
-The change in temperature per cycle is now displayed on the HUD.
-Added three new back pieces to the gene pool, two from the beast family and one from the material family.
-Two of the three new back pieces are only available through breeding with wild mystics, I have made more of the back pieces now available to default mystics.
-Added new buttons to the build menu. Button on far left now opens skills when pressed.
-Pressing "Q" now opens and closes skills.
-Though I have added new skill buttons they have all been turned off until next patch, come next patch they will all be usable.
-Fixed problem where eggs created through breeding would sometimes destroy egg pedestals.

What Is Uagi-Saba?

Uagi-Saba is a creature care simulator that takes place deep underground. Raise, care for and breed magical beings known as Mystics while harvesting resources, expanding sanctuary and exploring.

In-Depth Genetics

Uagi-Saba uses a realistic genetics system, every body part has two genes which can be passed on from parents to offspring resulting in thousands of body part combinations. Stats, skin pigment and many other parts of a mystic's DNA also have their own unique genes and can be passed on through breeding.
Recessive and dominant genes, resistance to sickness, mutations and the incorporation of "wild" genetics. It's all possible...


Raise mystics from egg to adult, feed them, give them water and keep them company.

Teach mystics a variety of words to better understand what they are trying to say.

Breed your mystics to discover new body parts and genes. Improve stats and traits through selective breeding, create the perfect species.

Play In The Gene Pool
Find new genes and mutations by breeding multiple generations of mystics. If you are lucky you may even stumble on a wild mystic, breed it with your own to uncover very rare genes.

Harvest The Harvest-able
Harvest all kinds of resources using special modules, rooms and your mouse pointer. Create a strong economy, expand your sanctuary.

What Was Lost Is Now Found
Find lore books long forgotten and read about the past or build a dig site to dig up old artifacts all with their own backstories.

Build It, They Will Come
Attract the local populous and grow your tribe through the construction of housing.

Grow, Bake And Ferment
Grow your own mushrooms, bake them into cakes or ferment them into elixirs for your mystics.
