“***IN ALPHA***

We want to get feedback from the community on the difficulty of the game and to get exposure. Critical Gravity is mainly skill based and will reveal significantly different track times between seasoned pros and beginners. Unlike games that look similar the challenge in Critical Gravity is to line up the best route on a truly 3D course, where hitting the inside line will produce centrifugal force increasing your speed. It also means when you loose control you REALLY loose it. You'll see =). The core mechanics are physics based and driving has been optimized for expert speed in mind. This leaves the beginner a little bewildered but experience will reveal some truly fast track times. Eventually vehicles will become customizable so players can setup their own driving style but for now we're looking for a baseline most players will think is the most fun. We're looking to accumulate user feedback and cycle this through early access development. Also feedback on art and all other elements is welcome as most assets will be updated to make each level something special. Looking forward to hearing from the community!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There are currently 6 tracks for players to test their skill. There are two modes Solo and Race. Race mode is locked until completing the same track in Solo mode. Locked tracks in Solo mode are opened by completing the track before it, one before two, two before three... Once a track is completed in Solo mode it becomes accessible for Race mode but must also be sequentially unlocked by placing 3rd or better.

Currently only runs on Oculus Rift and in limited modes as Standalone Windows.

The game is intended to be played seated using 'VR', a 'Driving Wheel Controller' and 'Foot Pedals' for full immersion. Currently Driving Wheel / Pedal Combos may find their Gas/Brake Axis flipped (ie Gas will be Brake and Brake will be Gas). Controller support is currently limited to the defaults and the Unity Input Tab displayed at launch. This will be improved to a custom Input Menu that is in development now.

Basically everything is a placeholder waiting for improvement however it is still fun to play so why not...”

“Yes. The game will be a reduced price in Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Its all about the community. Who likes racing alone?
Feedback and player behavior will inform our development cycle.
A community site will be created and open to suggestions/dialogue.
If the game grows to have a substantial player base there is the possibility for tournaments and other fun events.”

About This Game

Critical Gravity is a solo developer indie game made for Virtual Reality. It combines racing and puzzle solving as many games do, however it also alters gravity to produce an immersive experience that gets your body feeling the Gs!

MOGA Creative highly recommends Critical Gravity be played with a 'steering wheel / foot pedal pedal' controller paired with the Oculus Rift.

The Original

The game was first conceived using regular gravity, where the player would try to get from one end of the track to the other without falling off. This proved to be too difficult for the majority of players and development headed towards an 'altered' gravity, which is in use now. The original gravity mode is where the game gets it name 'Critical Gravity' because some turns required centrifugal force to clear without falling; a loop would be the most simple example. Due to the difficulty of the original, 'altered' gravity is now the default however regular gravity mode will be an unlock sometime in the future.
