What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We would like new and potentially new players to give us feedback and support our game while in this phase. Since we are a small team with big dreams for this project, we want to share it with you early so that you get to experience it while it grows into the full release game that we have in mind. This is easy for players as they play and write down bugs, features, or anything else to tell us while they play. This is also an advantage for us as we don't usually have the great feedback from people that is lost with games that are kept behind closed doors.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We planned to have the full game out within 3 months of time when working with our previous publisher. Even though we don't have a publisher anymore, we still fully believe we can finish Late Night 1320 within this timeframe because this is what we were originally working towards regardless of publisher or not. Rest assured this is our goal and if there is any reason that we would have to extend the early access phase itself, we will notify players ahead of time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game is on par with a full release drag racing game, but we would like our game to be much more than that. We want it to stand out much more than it currently can. We plan to do this with the features below during Early Access.

  • [Final career mode championship] All of career mode is done except the final championship. This final championship takes place at the drag strip, therefore the drag strip is not available to play on yet. Our goal is to make the dragstrip playable in the normal story mode first, then we will add the final championship to the drag strip for those playing the story mode.
  • [Add more cars to be available at the junkyard and for racers] While our car list is pretty good with high quality fully customizable and explorable cars that also feature various designs and parts from taxis, police, fire, and more, we would like to add even more cars to the base game. We may also explore DLC after the game is out of Early Access to expand the car list even more. But our goals for the car list are around 20 unique cars before that.
  • [Finish current maps] We would like to finish up the current maps layouts and designs to bring them into a finished and polished state.
  • [Finish current garages, Add more] We would like to finish up the current garages that are in an unfinished/early beta stage and polish them up to their final state. In addition we'd also like to add more garages around the city.
  • [Add showrooms] We would like to add showrooms around the map. These showrooms would act as a place to setup your cars in a pretty environment and have the ability to take pictures or videos in them.
  • [Advanced car customization] We would like to make car customization a bit more advanced than it already is. We want to make our cars have more drag inspired body parts. We want you to be able to break parts that have varying "health" and replace them.
  • [Extended/Add storyline] We would like to extend the career mode by either adding on to the current story or adding a completely new storyline along side the current one.
  • [Fully configurable controls menu] We would like to change the controls menu to be easier to use. We would also like to make it's theme closely match the rest of the menu UI theme.
  • [Vehicle skinning within garage] We would like to add the ability to upload a skin for your vehicles that aren't apart of the skins that are already available for all vehicles.
  • [Splitscreen support] We would like to add up to 4 player local splitscreen multiplayer support to quick race and custom race mode. This would allow up to 4 players to race against eachother or AI in races and championships.

Other features that are not promised or may come after Full Release

  • [Multiplayer support] We are not 100% on multiplayer support in a game like this. It could be a priority if players ask for this feature enough. We would add online races and championships but we aren't currently considering this as part of the finished product, so a feature like this would come after full release.
  • [Updated graphics pipeline] We would like to upgrade the graphics pipeline a bit more to take full advantage of the new render pipline since we currently use the old one.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game is on par with a full release drag racing game.

  • Small interactive backstory that let's you pick your actions during the story introduction. These actions are remembered throughout the game and can be used by the AI when talking to you. Example: They may call you a loser for running during one of the story scenes.
  • Earn reputation points and cash by racing other racers at different spots on the map.
  • 30 hardcoded racers for career mode. Racers that aren't important to career mode are randomly generated. This means you can race an unlimited amount of racers without progressing the career mode or they can go up the chain and beat 30 racers until the final championship.
  • Fully simulated drag racing mode that puts you up against challenging AI with varying setups, difficulty, and cars.
  • Complete part inventory system that allows the players to buy cosmetic parts, engine upgrades, paint, and more to upgrade their car in the garage. Or they can goto the junkyard and pick "parts" every visit.
  • Complete garage controller that allows the player to buy new garages and customize their garages. Currently 3 garages are available that are very early works in progress.
  • All maps except the drag strip can be raced on, however Country Road is the only map with complete visuals.
  • Quick race menu that lets you play on random tracks against random racers in random cars.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be priced closely to it's full release price because it's being launched into early access pretty close to it's full release state. We may increase the price of the game if we add more content than we originally planned.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While we are in early access we will take suggestions for new features that aren't already on the planning list. We will also be able to fix bugs and problems a lot faster since the game will be publicly tested and this will mean we can fully release a better product.

For direct suggestions and feedback, feel free to post on our Steam Discussion Board under "Suggestions".”

Backstory
  • You're fresh out of prison. You got busted for street racing a while back, but thing's have changed and your name has been forgotten. You need to work your way through the chain of racers out their putting their money and car's on the line. You need to show them who's back in town and ready to mix things up. You need a car. Where's the first place you go?

The Junkyard
  • At the junkyard you can find a plethora of junk cars to choose from. Some missing motors, others missing entire panels and suspension parts. Cars are sent here to die and you just happen to be one of the people that can save them. Taxis, Police Cars, Stunt Vehicles, Fire Response, and old daily junkers have all been left to rot. Pick "parts" at the junkyard once a day. Who knows what you'll find at the junkyard?

Street Racers
  • All street racers have something to prove, and are willing to throw just about anything down on the line if your rep matches your trash talk. Every racer has a rep of their own and they are trying to protect it, but they won't waste their time on someone who doesn't have any rep in the local scene. You need to start at the bottom and work your way up the list. You can put money, cars, or even garages on the line if you're desparate enough. You can race the local crowd or work your way up The Chain.

The Chain
  • The chain is a mysterior group of street racers who bet high, risk high, and win high. Find them and win amazing riches! But be careful. There is a reason they are well known.
