What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're a small indie team with big plans for We Might Die. We want to deliver it to the gaming community as fast as possible to gain the feedback we think is important to the game's success. We'll use this feedback to build out Acts 2 & 3. By being able to involve players directly in the game’s development, we are certain the game will be of a much better quality as a result.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Between 1-2 years is our current plan.

It is difficult to predict how long Early Access will last. We have a number of goals that we are working towards and we’re focusing on delivering good quality additions at a reasonable pace. At the end of the day, we're dedicated to making We Might Die the best game possible, however long that takes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have 3 Acts planned with a total of 9 unique boss fights and at least 20 enemy types. Throughout Early Access, we will release a number of updates that add new content to the game. We are planning on three different types of updates: Content Updates, Balancing Patches and Hotfixes.

  • Content Updates are major updates that have an overarching theme and occur only a few times in a calendar year. They include major features, new ships, enemies, mods, and missions.
  • Balancing patches happen more often. These may include features, bug fixes, or anything not formally part of a Content Update.
  • Hotfixes are more small updates to target balancing and fixes for the game.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We'll launch Early Access with Act 1, which will contain 2 Bosses, 6 Enemy types, and the first batch of assets used by our procedural systems.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Looking at our plans for the title and where we want it to be when we bring it out of Early Access, we will likely be increasing the price. However, this means that any support during Early Access will not only help us shape We Might Die, but you’ll also be getting the game at the best possible price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want the community to be directly involved in helping us shape the development of We Might Die. We're using our official Discord server to gain feedback, but we've also developed an in-game form that players can use to report bugs or suggestions.”

About This Game

Mech-based roguelike set in deep space, where an alien swarm is quickly approaching your home ship. You and your team of robots will salvage procedurally-generated ships to gain the resources you need to escape the star system intact.

Upgrade Your Ship

You Need More Cores
Powerful crystals that hold CORE ENERGY can be found and socketed to your AI. Once fully charged, they can be used to permanently upgrade the decks of your home ship, giving you access to more nodes in the tech tree.

Difficulty Scales

Limited Time
The swarm is chasing you through space and you have a limited amount of time to prepare for their arrival.

Choices Matter
Once the swarm arrives, salvage missions become increasingly more difficult over time. Be smart about how you plan your route through the star system.

Risk vs Reward
You'll be rewarded for choosing to stay in the swarm. The amounts increase with each "Swarm Level"
  • Increased Resources Dropped per Swarm Level
  • Increased Item Quality per Swarm Level

Escape
When things get too hot, get the @#%^ out of there by blowing a hole in the ship and escaping to your home ship. You'll keep both the loot you've found and your life. You can then travel to a safer location on the map.

Survive the Alien Swarm

Crawlers stay low to the ground and use their tentacles to reach out and grab the surrounding environment. They can crawl on walls and ceilings to further overwhelm their enemy. Easy to kill, but deadly in numbers.

The Swarm has many ways of infecting a ship, but nothing is more terrifying than the Drills. No radar can detect them and no armor can dissuade them. The only warning you have is the screeching of metal as they slam through your hull. By then, it’s too late. The Drills deliver their deadly payload in a brutally efficient manner.

Small and agile, the ghosts can swarm the airspace around their enemy. Once they find an ideal position, they’ll bombard the player with charged orbs that deal area damage.

Silently stalking it's prey on all six legs, the Brute is swift and silent. Litheness becomes terror as it rises to meet it’s victim. Limbs swell with energy as it transforms into an unstoppable force. Nothing can withstand the crushing blows of it’s massive spiked claws.

Gear Up

Upgrading your Mech
Find components during missions that your AI can assemble into Weapon Mods and Utility Mods for your mech.
