Patch V1.1

Hey everyone, a new patch!
I wanted to rush this one out now since it contains some important optimizations, we have a content patch that will hit before the end of February, I also plan on putting the DLC on sale around then!

Shadow Rotation
Oculus Malus

  • Lowered required level to password protect a game to level 5
  • Re-added the framerate cap, High framerates were leading to some gameplay elements breaking, such as Terror's suck ability being over powered.
  • Optimized some HUD elements gaining upwards of 30 extra FPS on average, pretty huge gains.
  • Completely changed the way we handle traversal adjustments. Before modifiers would cancel each other (Mercury's fervor would be interrupted from webs) now we have a stacking system that takes the sum of the changes!
  • Chat is now set to be a priority for data transfers. It has been working perfectly in all of our test sessions. I want to make sure it's working on the Live Branch now :)
  • Added a display for buffs/debuffs so that players can visibly see what is affecting them.
  • Added a compass that will show important markers.
  • Added FX for most of the blessings.
  • Added an intro for shadows to display what they loosely have.
  • Bears spawn with a 2 second invulnerability shield to prevent early corruption.
  • Shadow's Ultimate starts on cooldown in Light Favored.
  • Lowered spawn rate of Blessing orbs.
  • Moved keybindings to top menu of settings for better readability.
  • Kicked list is now persistent through map changes.
  • Light Maiden's voice is now properly affected by voice volume changes.
  • Minerva's Flank now forces movement to bears rather than sweeping locations.
  • Optimized rain in Black Ramparts.
  • Increased speed threshold required to initiate falling animation. This will make jumping in Bear Village more enjoyable.
  • Fixed a bug that showed body unlocks in chat as body color unlocks.
  • Fixed a key tip
  • Fixed a bug that would cause score text to stay large
  • Other small MISC fixes
  • Levitated for a solid 1 second, no video proof of it though.
  • Gained the attention of an Indian Prince, he's very interested in giving me millions that he has to hide from his family. I think i'm gonna take the dive.

Again this is only part of the stuff we're doing this month, near the end of February we'll be adding 3 Shadows and 1 new Map. Plus a sexy sale ;)

Patch V1.0West

Hey Everyone!

New Shadow rotation.
Squawk (cute little penguin with an attitude!)

This month's cosmetics have this by them

Change List!
  • 1 New Map, Dry Rock, a fun little western town in the middle of the bearvada desert!
  • 7 New Hats
  • 1 New Secret Hat (Hint, you're going to need some friends to unlock this one.)
  • 4 New Bodies
  • 2 New Country Flags for capes
  • 2 New Victory Decos (to be fair they're just requested colors for the power deco)
  • Uncapped framerate, works fine for us but if it leads to issues down the road we may recap it.
  • Added a Free Roam mode to practice in any level.
  • Added a Shadow Sandbox mode to try out each shadow in any level.
  • Added sounds to Stalker's leap and to her spiderlings.
  • Added a handshake to hopefully alleviate some of the un-sent messages in chat.
  • Added collision to the star in Yule Town.
  • Added a transition fx to being that shadow.
  • Added a clear all check for telegraphing objects.
  • Added a repeated check to see if a bear is corrupted to fix the "that bear looks like a shadow bear but is actually a light bear"
  • Added the ability to opt out of playing as Shadow
  • Added a 4 second invincibility shield at the beginning of the round for bears.
  • Chat now properly shows up in the "Waiting for Shadow" screen, you can type again!
  • Reworked art for tutorial.
  • Changed Watcher's secondary to be a short duration Darkness.
  • Slowed watcher to 66% of what his speed was, this makes him more controllable.
  • Changed the way Squawks wall works, now it's segmented to allow for better ceiling detection.
  • Increased the speed of Jester during ghost walk to around 160% of what it was.
  • Decreased duration of Jester's ultimate to 4.5 seconds from 6.5 seconds, also adjusted the visual effect for it.
  • Set a max number of sound cues that can be played on Krampus' ultimate in order to avoid the really loud noise when lots of bears are by each other.
  • Removed floating arms from Tutorial (spooky)
  • Changed Minerva's Flank to say "teleport to bear" rather than "save bear"
  • Changed a ton of Server Ticks to provide less data clutter.
  • Fixed chat size not staying what the user set it as.
  • Chat now hides your level if you have "Hide Player Level" enabled.
  • Set icons for Squawk's and Krampus' abilities.
  • Fixed a camera bug that would make your camera stay at weird angles after leaving a hiding place.
  • Writhe can no longer hit you through Vulcan's Shield.
  • Changed collision channels in Yule Town to prevent Writhe from leaving the Arena.
  • A bunch of minor bugs are also fixed but I'm terrible at writing fixes down.
  • Localized Watcher's voice lines into 49 different languages.

If you keep getting disconnected from every server, restart your Steam.

About This Game

“Deep into that darkness peering, long i stood there wondering, fearing,
doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before”
- Edgar Allan Poe

Light Bearers is a multiplayer asymmetrical hide and seek game where
during each round one player is chosen as the Shadow while the other
players play as Light Bears trying to avoid being infected by the Shadow.
Once infected Light Bears become Shadow Bears and start working
for the Shadow trying to capture and infect Light Bears.

If all Light Bears reach the Light Pool at the end of the round, they win;
however if the Shadow (and his minions) manage to infect all Light Bears
before time runs out, the Shadow wins.

All Bears (Light or Shadow) play in first-person to create a more gripping
and adrenaline pumping experience while most Shadows play in third-
person to give them situational awareness and a sense of true power.

The Shadows

The Free-To-Play version of Light Bearers has two Shadows unlocked and
ready to play. Unlock the DLC - Full Game to gain access to all available

Each Shadow has three abilities crafted for their specific play style; each one
offering the player new and interesting game mechanics and combos.

The Bears

During any given round of Light Bearers you might play as either a Light Bear
or a Shadow Bear. Depending on which one you are, your win condition will
change - evading the shadow and escaping through the Light Pool or chasing
and infecting all remaining Light Bears.

Whether you are a Shadow Bear or Light Bear there are map mechanics that
will aid you in your efforts. Shadow Bears can use the Shadow teleports to
move swiftly and easily around the map whereas the Light Bears have hiding
spots scattered throughout the map that help them avoid detection.

Both bears have a special ability associated with their type. Light Bears have
a usefule Dash that gets them out of tough spots and the Shadow Bears can
create a wall to stop their prey from getting away.
