What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Our goal is to create the best product out there for firearms simulation, and we need a strong community give us feedback along the way.

Our controller binding has been simplified, so the same controller can be bound to specific firearms every time the program is started.

We currently have 4 Run and Gun courses live, plus these courses of fire
A CQB popup range
a 150 yard popup rifle range
The Shoot house

We currently support the Vive controller - with and without 3d printed stocks, Sony sharpshooter, Cabela's Top shot Elite (PS3 and XBOX version's), Tactical AR AR-15 fire control group, and Hyperblaster.

Multiple gun controllers can be active at the same time, so the Tactical AR can be your primary weapon, and Hyperblaster, your side arm. Any combitation of weapons is possible.

We have free stl's available to 3d print at our store at tacticalar.net, and we also sell 3d printed vive controller mounts, and hyperblaster belt, and drop leg holsters”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As the game progresses more courses, weapon models, physical controllers for weapons, and content will be added to the game. New game modes are currently in the works as well.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We currently have 4 Run and Gun courses live, plus these courses of fire:
A CQB popup range
a 150 yard popup rifle range
The Shoot house
Speed Steel Course”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Asking what types of scenarios people are most interested in running.”

New Run and Gun course, Shoot House cleaned up + tons of small updates

We've been doing a lot of work to normalize scoring in preparation to roll out leader board support on all courses. To help hold everyone over till then We just released Village 1 run and gun course, which is a mix of a standard 3 gun run and gun course, with a video game type of level design and feel, that would be hard to pull off in the real world.

We rewrote our tracker based movement, and released all the updates under a MIT license. Our recommended mounting for them is now on the feet, using track straps from rebuff reality. I cheap way to test this locomotion out before buying straps is to loop the trackers into shoelaces on your shoes.

We've made a lot of progress on some intro to movement and shooting content, but it isn't ready for release yet.

All run and gun courses now have animated green follow arrows so people don't get lost. Our longer courses of fire, like the Desert run and gun course is now much more approachable then before. We were just at Origins Game fair in Columbus the past weekend, and all our new updates were very well received there.

Multiple smaller bugs were identified and resolved as well. We're working to get on a more regular update release cycle, and have a lot more in the pipe for the near future.
