Why Early Access?

“Spectro has been in development for about 3 years and we've reached the point where we think player feedback will really help to push it that last mile. Our focus is on polished gameplay mechanics that are fun and utilize VR to its fullest potential.

Seeing how other people play the game and listening to their feedback will help to give us insight on balance changes and areas that we may want to focus on even more.

We think early access will make Spectro the best game it can possibly be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is far along and we anticipate the early access period lasting around 6-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version of Spectro will have more hand crafted level components, more pick-ups and upgrades, more ghosts, and a bit more backstory as well.

Right now the game has about 70% of the content we want to ship with but depending on player feedback we may focus our efforts on different parts of the game to bring more content to that area.

We also want to add Steam Achievements and a Daily Challenge level with boards to track the top players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of Spectro includes all the main features with a gameplay loop that works well. The procedural haunted house algorithm is also finished and provides a ton of replayability. There are over 30 different blasters to acquire and several different types of ghosts with a variety of subtypes. The backstory is currently a work in progress with only minimal story implemented at the moment but we plan to fill that out a bit over the course of early access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of Spectro is planned to stay the same after launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are using our Discord channel primarily to chat with our community and hear what they have to say about Spectro. https://discord.gg/fTXAV44

The main areas we are looking forward to the community helping with are:
Balance:
We want to make Spectro a fun but also challenging experience. There will be multiple difficulty levels to choose from but we also don't want to make it so hard that you can't relax a bit and enjoy the experience.

New Items:
We plan to introduce several new items throughout early access and the community might be able to help us refine these mechanics without creating overpowered gear.

Bug Hunting:
Our goal is to make a seamless, bug free experience and our priority with patches will be making sure the game is stable and runs on as many systems as possible.

Suggestions:
We are also open to listening to totally new and wild suggestions. If we think it will make the game better and it's within our scope, we will definitely consider adding it. We have a roadmap that takes us to launch, but doing some sightseeing along the way is part of the fun :)
