Why Early Access?

“City builders are complex beasts, and we are aiming to make this game as fun and as polished is possible. To add more value to the game and improve it further, we'd like to welcome other people to play the game and voice their suggestions.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It mostly depends on the community feedback, but we are aiming somewhere between 6 to 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning to add gradually more features and content, and improve the core features, functionality and graphics with each new update. Some of the upcoming updates we are planning to release are:
  • A research system to develop new technologies: craft better weapons, tools, improve the village
  • Tier II buildings which will provide the player with new jobs for his villagers and new challenges.
  • Complex diplomatic system between your village and other settlements in the region, which will help you develop alliances, improved trade relations or even provoke wars.
  • Large scale battles with new formations along with new defensive buildings: walls, gatehouses, towers.
  • Raids on other settlements.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The basic core features are done and the game can offer dozen of hours of gameplay. You can construct several buildings, manage your villagers, gather resources, hunt wild animals, craft tools, cook food and react to random events and your villagers needs. Seasons and weather are also implemented, which can provide a tough challenge due to the production of food, lack of clothes for cold seasons and natural disasters.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may be increased upon release from early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is a major part of our development process, and we expect players to voice their opinions on Steam game's forums, official forums and the most importantly through the in-game submit feedback form. This way we will get a better view on what players think and act accordingly when possible or when is appropriate.”

Update A 1.80 now live! ~

Hi Guys,

In this update i added villagers queues, misc. tweaks and bug fixes.


During the day, villagers now will go to eat or to drink water, one or just a few at one time, every few minutes (by reserving food at the barn - hover with mouse over food icon at the top left of the UI to see total food and food reserved). With this new feature, gameplay flow will be more stable and more fun. At the same time, villagers will check before leaving their job, if food is available, compared to the past.

- added a bonus reward when finishing the game, when not receiving the main reward. - achievements are now tracked during the game as well, and not only at the end of a game. - energy is drained a bit faster during the winter, for villagers with no winter clothes. - women have now a limit on how many kids they can have in total (3-5) - fixed a bug with villagers getting sick from cold even when they had wood in the house. - fixed a bug with villagers didn't acquired double resources at 100 skill - fixed a problem with some villagers getting stuck at the barn or before arriving at the barn, if the barn had under 5 food. - fixed extra reward villager getting stuck at the beginning of a new game. - fixed a bug with energy now showing properly on the villager list for some. - fixed a bug where the resource walls remained selected even when they ran out of resources. - fixed some of the stats on game won screen. - fixed a bug where the herbalist went to the barn while carrying a wounded villager - fixed a bug where certain props weren't visible on loading a new game.

Update A 1.70 now live! [UPDATED]

Update 1:

- fixed a problem with autosave corrupting the options and loosing the saves in some occasions. - fixed a problem when the stockpile and other buildings didn't show on the map the sprites representing resources gathered.

Hi Guys,

Here is another update for this month, this time i bring you Scores and Achievements!!one

The game will now record your personal scores on finished games (even on uninstall) and global scores achieved by you and other players worldwide (requires to Civitatem, to have his executable privileges to connect to the internet, or visit the official site to see the global scores) .

In addition to scores, we have now the first part of achievements! Check the achievements menu after you finished a game to see what you unlocked. Some achievements are not just a graphical sprite that unlocks when you achieve something to memorize it, some give you persistent rewards. For example at the end of each game, there is a chance that you will receive a reward. That reward will be carried to the all new started games you plan to play.

- stopped some sounds on escape / IGB menu - fixed a problem with music still playing with vol 0. - fixed a bug where you couldn't assign jobs by using villagers list. - dead hunted animals don't disappear on winter until the hunter finishes its job, or a period of time passes. - and as always sever misc bug fixes and balance issues.

About This Game

Civitatem is a medieval city builder where you help your villagers raise a new settlement in dangerous lands, by making use of their skills and available world resources. Shape the future of your people by managing and assigning the most skilled villager for each task. Educate them and research new technologies, fight off the natural elements or raiders, explore the land for new villages to develop new trades routes, acquire new technologies and develop diplomatic relations.

The most important resource are your villagers, each specialized in some areas, gaining experience each time they perform a task. Educate them in schools and libraries to allow them to perform more complex tasks and jobs. Besides education, the health of your people is imperative, so herbalists and doctors are also quite important.

Nature has always had her way since the beginning of time, so be prepared each season to face storms, disease, quakes and other events. Gaining high education, technology and constructing a strong settlement will help you survive in these troublesome times, but be prepared to defend your village from raiders, wild animals and unfriendly neighbors.


  • Procedural Maps - Territory Maps and Land maps are procedural generated along with the resources.
  • Villager Needs - Each villager has a certain numbers of needs for him to survive. Not fulfilling his needs like having access to food, shelter and water, might lead to the villager's death or him and his family departing your lands..
  • Dynamic Events - Every season is a challenge. From a chance to being raided by some greedy raiders, getting attacked by wildlife or experiencing a natural disaster, there is no time to relax, unless you are prepared. Not all events are negative. There are also positive events that might help your village grow faster.
  • Seasons, Day and Night cycle and Weather - Seasons are important due to weather, temperature and times to harvest and plant crops.
  • [In Development] - Research System - By educating and acquiring books for your people you can develop new technologies ranging from military to farming and architecture. Some technologies will be unlocked only when you perform certain actions.
  • [In Development] - Crafting - having the best armors, weapons and tools is the route to success in these dangerous lands.
  • [In Development] - Territory Exploration and Diplomacy - Besides your territory, you can send scouts to search the land for other villages and points of interest with which you can interact, providing rewards ranging from acquiring new books for your libraries to developing trade treaties or other diplomatic relations.
  • [In Development] - Combat - Defend your territory against raiders, aggressive neighbors and later, even attack back.
