What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I chose to release "Obscure" in Early Access, because I need feedback from the community. I am developing this game alone, and to some of you it may seems that the project is very small, but trust me, there is a lot of work on it. I think that, with your help, "Obscure" can become something special and unique. I will be very happy if you share with me your ideas on how the game can be better.
I also need money, in order to improve the overall quality of the game. For example, I consider paying professional voice actors to record the dialogues in "Obscure". As the game is full of dialogue, such investment would be right.
And last, but not least, as an indie developer I want to establish a solid relationship with my audience. Together, we can make "Obscure" better!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“"Obscure" will stay in Early Access for about four months. Of course, the period may be extended or reduced according to the situation. As I said above, I want to include professional voice acting to all the characters in the game, but if I do not have the needed funding, this will not happen and I will not be able to release the final version of the game in four months. We can positively say that the length of the early access period is in your hands.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At this moment the game does not offer you all that has been planned. As I progress to full release, I will work on these elements:
  • Professional voice acting for all the characters in the game.
  • More side activities and secrets to unravel.
  • Improvement of the 2D art.
  • All chapters of the main story.
  • Steam Achievements.
  • Steam Trading Cards.
  • Localization in other languages.
  • Improved sound design.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, you can freely explore and enjoy the world of "Obscure". You can also experience three chapters from the beginning and share with us what do you think about it, so we can build a better game each update. You can also enjoy the early stage of the Achievement System, where you can spend more time on.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“"Obscure" is at a 25% discount during the Early Access phase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Constant communication is crucial to Obscure's Early Access. I will collect user feedback and suggestions through Steam community forums and my email adress. As the game community grows, I will start a development blog series on YouTube and I will create a website, where I will periodically post news about the development process.”

About This Game

The Game

Dreams. What are dreams actually? Do we really know?
Let me tell you of an orphan boy, barely remembering his own mother and father. A subject of bullying since young age and living in a dirty, old orphanage.
That was his prison. This is where he tried the unthinkable twice, just to escape from it.
Until one cold night in November he dreamed it. He dreamed a green meadow, covered in flowers on a sunny day. The birds were singing, there was a sound of running water nearby and a gentle, female voice was calling him from a white, wooden house. "It could not be her", he says to himself while dreaming. But it was her. His mother was standing on the doorstep, looking for him.
From that moment, he started coming to that house every night hoping that he will speak with his parents and that maybe, he will find out why they left him when he was still a baby. At least that was what he was thinking in the morning, remembering this colorful magic dream, that he had the night before.
That was his escape. There he was free.

Inspiration

I have always loved the presentation and the beauty of a games such as "Journey", "Abzu" and "The Witness". These games made me think about the most games on the market these days with all the gore, fast-paced action, and I decided to create something different. I hope that, with your help, "Obscure" will become the beautiful, relaxing adventure that I want it to be.
I have to say that my inspiration does not only come from games. In "Obscure" you will find a lot of subjects that come from different books, ancient texts, interesting theories and more.

Contact

I would like to get as much feedback as I can in order to make "Obscure" better, so if you have any ideas, critique or you just want to get some more information for yourself, don't hesitate to contact me on the e-mail I provided.

Thank you! I wish you all a kickass day!
