“The early access version of Claybook is a well-presented digital toy. This clay squishes, picks up color, clones itself and travels through time. Wonky controls but so full of possibility”

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access gives us the opportunity to explore new ways to experience the Claybook world. We have developed a unique clay simulation and visualization technology for Claybook. So far we have just scratched the surface of the real potential of the technology. Now is the perfect time to invite players to help us in developing Claybook further.

User-generated content is a big part of the Claybook. Early Access gives us the time to refine and improve the content sharing and make the in-game creation tools easily approachable to everyone. Making sure that everyone can enjoy using the tools and share their creations effortlessly through the Steam Workshop is going to be one big part of our Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“There’s no rigid timeline. We want to have enough time to implement improvements and features suggested by the community before the release. We expect that 3-6 months will give us plenty of time. Release would be early 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will evolve into full version with more content, features and improvements. We are aiming to bring more books and chapters, introduce new ways to experience the Claybook world and improve the user-generated content creation and sharing.

During the Early Access, we expect that there is going to be the awesome creations by the community and all of them will be available to everyone on release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All of the major components are in place and available in the game. The game has a bunch of chapters that challenge the player in various ways. We know that we need more content for seasoned players. All of the chapters have leaderboards and hidden areas. This helps with the replay value until we introduce more content. We are prepared to frequently add new features and chapters into the game as we update the game.

Players can create new books and chapters and share them through the Steam Workshop. All of the creation tools, sharing and discovering new content can be done inside the game.

The game is already stable, but there is always need for bug fixes and improvements. All aspects of the game will be covered during the early access. Also, we want to make sure that our new technology that utilizes the GPU for gameplay and physics simulation also runs smoothly without issues on all of the supported systems.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently have no plans on changing the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“User-generated content is going to be a big part of the Claybook. Community involvement is going to be important for us.Steam community, Reddit and Discord at least will be used for discussions and development information.”

Claybook Workshop

Claybook comes with in-game creation tool that lets you build your books and chapters and share them with the Claybook community through Steam Workshop. Discover and play new community creations directly inside the game.

About This Game

Claybook is a unique world made entirely of clay. Everything acts like it's made of real clay. Every inch of the environment can be shaped and molded. Everything has matter inside it, not just an outer shell. Clay can be deformed, destroyed and frozen to solid.

In the game, you step into the shoes of brave kids who bring the Claybook to life. Each chapter of the book challenges you with unique obstacles and puzzles. You possess clay blobs and morph them into different shapes in order to overcome tricky situations. Each shape has its own strengths and weaknesses, some even have special powers.

Awesome features:

  • Play through challenging chapters by your self or with a buddy in split-screen (up to 4 players).
  • Sandbox mode where you can mess around freely with all of the clay shapes and the environment.
  • Compete against others in the leaderboards.
  • Bunch of achievements that challenges you to use the clay shapes and environment differently.
  • A unique clay simulation and visualization technology that has been designed from ground up for user-generated content, making it easy for players to unleash their creativity.
  • Epic multi-color clay fluids with erosion.
  • Amazing in-game creation tool that lets you build your own books and chapters and share them with the Claybook community. You don't need any technical skills or have modding experience, anyone can create and share directly inside the game without hassle.
  • Discover and play new community creations directly inside the game. All of the creations are small in size which makes the discovering and playing smooth experience even with a slower network.
