What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows us to get the game into players hands much earlier, allowing you to join our growing community and help us build the best game. Everyone who buys it will receive the exclusive Pioneers Pack - containing 2 factions of 4 characters each, that will NOT be available once the full game is released.

Working with you to improve and enhance the game is an amazing opportunity for us. As the game is developed we will be adding new features, game modes, factions & maps and continuously asking you for input, feedback and thoughts via the official forum http://forum.thedrginitiative.com and chat channels https://discord.gg/drginitiative

By buying the Early Access version you are helping ensure the game remains completely independent allowing us to keep creative control and create an amazing game for you all to play.

--- THIS GAME IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT: If you are looking for a complete game, please wait until the release of the full version ---”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We want to make sure we set the correct expectations on this one. We will go full release when we’re happy that game holds up and when you guys tell us you feel it’s ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want to tell the story of our game world through developing and releasing new factions of characters for you to play; we will build spectacular and varied new maps set all over the planet with inventive new game modes and weapon types; all the time improving the graphics, game systems tech and AI. Teams will need to work together between rounds to develop multi-round strategies if they are to beat tough, experienced opponents. There will be tactical choices to be made about loadouts, powerups and how to spend their resources between the rounds of a match in order to gain a tactical advantage as the match unfolds across several rounds.

We want to build a full broadcaster progression system for our Broadcast mode. More on that to come as we get closer to the start of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build is fully playable with teams of 3 going to head to head in our first arena over three rounds in the Team Elimination game mode. Our broadcasters have full control over what the viewers at home see, they can trigger in-game events and request audience participation to affect the match in progress.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes! The Early Access version is what we call the Pioneers Faction pack. The final release will be free to download but will not have the Pioneers Faction pack. The only way to get the pack is to buy it as part of the Early Access release. The Pioneers Factions pack contains 2 full factions - the Knights and the Wastelanders, each of which have 4 character classes.

We have not yet finished the design of our business model and we will be engaging with the community during Early Access to ensure we get it right; balancing the needs of the long term future of the game, ensuring value for money, supporting our most committed players and those playing with the free download version. The final design will ensure pay to win is not possible and we will be testing the system exhaustively (on test servers) during Early Access. You will NEVER have to pay to play with your Pioneer Factions.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

  • Our community is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of this process and we have an on going 2-way flow of feedback and input.
  • The official website has regular blogs talking about what we are doing and what we will release in our regular build updates.
  • Requests and feedback from the community can be posted on our public forums we host on the website, with the actual dev team members talking directly to the community.
  • Our official chat channels allow the you to directly talk to us
  • Join us in the game in our regular “play with the devs” sessions.
  • In the menu system of the game we have a noticeboard which gives you a list of the features we will be aiming to have in the new builds and when you will get them, along with other important service information.
  • If you, our community have suggestions on how we can improve or add to our outreach, we want to hear it, so do please let us know by any of the above methods!

About This Game

The D.R.G. Initiative is a 3rd person team combat shooter, focused on pure competitive play, set in purpose built arenas.

In team elimination, the team with the last man/woman standing wins the round. Each player gets to pick two different characters per round and you can switch between them during the game by using the swap-pods found in the arena. Once your first character is killed you auto switch to the next one, now you have to stay alive to try to win the round or you’re permanently dead and out of the round, no further respawning!

The other team are not the only foes to deal with, the Addicted are the raging, primal human monsters that are released into the arena for sport and spectacle. They have nothing left to live for and all they are interested in is …... you and your untimely end.

Ammo and health packs are scarce commodities in The D.R.G. Initiative, so go easy on the spray and pray. Working as a team is the critical winning formula. Whether it's securing more Ammo or Health, dealing with the Addicted or of course finding and dispatching the opposing team. We highly recommend using a voice chat system.

Mastering specific factions and levelling up your characters and factions together is a key part of winning. At the Early access launch, we have 2 in the game (which come as part of the Pioneers Faction pack, exclusively for Early Access).

We have 9 more on the design table and as part of our community, we are going to let you guys decide which faction you want to see added next to the game.

We are currently at the early stages of development, we have come pretty far, pretty quickly and we will be soon releasing a closed alpha build that will allow us to take your feedback and iron out some more kinks, before the early access release in late 2017

And finally, if you fancy being the Gameshow Host* of The D.R.G. Initiative, now you can be! This special mode allows you to run the Gameshow - deciding what happens in the arena, what gets broadcast to the global population and making sure the very best entertainment keeps the viewers at home entertained.

We give you a complete broadcast command centre to run the Gameshow from and if you decide to stream your show to Twitch (or other supported streaming services) then your audience at home can get involved too with live voting and cheering. We have a lot of features we are going to be adding to this mode during the Early Access release period.

(*) Gameshow Host mode is optional, and can be disabled for tournaments and events.

The Leaders of the new world order needed a radical approach to discourage criminality and remind the population of the deadly threat of the Addicted.

The first shows were never intended to be what they have become today. Originally a one-time only, globally broadcast event that showed how crimes would be punished if you chose to take that path.

Each of the enclaves that survived the old world destruction entered an Enforcement squad of their best fighters and hunters. They were heavily armed and well trained.

They were pitched against teams of the worst of the criminals that had been rounded up and condemned.

The shows were huge, and the population begged for more. It didn't take long for Leaders to sign-off on the Enforcement squads taking on each other. And the popularity soared to new unimaginable heights as people tuned in to watch the Gladiatorial battles between Earth's surviving factions.

And with that, The D.R.G. Initiative was born. Welcome, to the greatest Gameshow on Earth!
