What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Being only two developers working on this game, the development is long and we understand the impatience of the community.
In addition, we are at a stage where we have to try our game to get a return from the players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Between 6 and 10 months to finish the story.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay is already implemented, and the most important game mechanics will not suffer many changes except for balancing and improvements in the overall player experience.
For final release, the story will be at least 30% longer with:
1 new level, new enemies, new areas, new weapons, new achievements, new quests, etc...
We also plan to add other languages (German, Portuguese, Russian, ...)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is playable, with its main game mechanics implemented and around 60% of final game content.
Currently, it includes the following:
  • Full implementation of player abilities.
  • 7 weapons, stealth and beast mode attacks.
  • 20 enemies types with different behaviors and attacks.
  • 2 bosses.
  • Around 90% of items and interactives objects.
  • Around 50% of story on 2 levels.
  • Around 5 hours minimum of gameplay to finish current story.
  • At least 40 achievements.
The rest of the content will be included via updates during the Early Access period.

Warning ! Saved games may not work after updates, the player may need to restart a new game.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price of early-access games will increases proportionally with the addition of content.
But players already owning the game will have no extra charge.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We rely on player feedback to improve your game.
For this, we have a network and a forum in place.”

About This Game

HEATHEN is a solo adventure with an immersive first person view (F.P.S) created by 2 indie developers.

Inspired by the novel "The island of Doctor Moreau" by HG Wells.

The English expedition "Peary & Scott" discovers an island populated by strange and ferocious creatures. Half-human, half-animal, they were created by the famous Dr. Moreau. Peary, a scientist and biologist, resumes his work.

At a time when the abolition of slavery continues to grow worldwide, Scott, a wealthy industrialist and close to the royal family, sees huge potential in those "beasts": Cheap, hardworking manpower, easily renewable, and gifted with remarkable physical abilities.

In just 20 years, in secret, Peary and Scott will create hundreds of these "beasts" and build an empire. Inevitably, however, humans will lose control of the island: The north is occupied by humans, trapped and hidden behind their wall; while the rest of the island is populated by various generations of "beasts", which are often hostile towards each other. Most degenerate very quickly, and fall in bestial madness.

This is where your story begins: you are one of those "beasts". Your task will be long and difficult: Explore, develop, understand and reclaim the island, while respecting the law of Moreau.

Will you keep your faith in humanity until the end of this journey ?

key Features:

“I must confess that I lost faith in the sanity of the world”
― H.G. Wells, The Island of Dr. Moreau
