Why Early Access?

“HellSign will be in Early Access on Steam so that we may get the game in the hands of the players as soon as possible. As a game with innovative new emergent gameplay, engaging with the HellSign community early on is critical to provide valuable feedback, so that we may work together with the community to make HellSign the best supernatural investigative experience it can be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“As a complex and deep action RPG, it is hard to estimate exactly how long HellSign will be in Early Access.
However if all goes according to plan, we are aiming to release version 1.0 late 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We’ve spent 3 years making sure the core game mechanics are complete, and the Early Access provides a complete and immersive experience of the first chapter.
Having said that, the full version of HellSign will feature extra chapters, support several languages and please the players with a comprehensive storyline (including new enemies, levels, items, etc...).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment, the first story chapter is implemented in the game. This is already a full-fledged part of the game, almost in the final quality, which includes chapter 1 story with non-linear dialogue, numerous enemies, 100+ items, 90+ skills, craftable cursed artifacts, advanced combat mechanics, multiple investigation gadgets including paranormal interference in different jobs, deep deduction system, safehouse/bar/store locations, different weapon types including weapon attachments, gambling system, logically generated procedural levels for high replayability and much more.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After release, the price will definitely go up as indie development strips away our humanity. Although our souls might one day be saved, the price will still get higher. Also with the release of new chapters in Early Access, the price of the game will gradually increase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Ballistic Interactive will work with the community to ensure HellSign is the best supernatural investigative RPG it can be through a number of ways: Steam Community forums, Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook.
We’d like to hear any feedback, opinions, and ideas on the project, so feel free to express yourself by any means available, including ritualistic communication. HellSign v1.0.0.4 Update

Greetings hunters.

We’ve listened to your pleights regarding the difficulty curve, and are proud to introduce our biggest update yet!
A brand new veteran scouting mission is now made available as hunting gets unlocked.
(players who already unlocked hunting, will automatically get this map)

The new mission is a stepping stone of sorts, a fusion of scouting & sweeping with a couple of surprises ;)
We also want to emphasise hunting missions risk & rewards are left untouched, and it’s still the place to make the real cash, once you get some footing in late game ;)

Poltergeist Ghast Presence
We’ve added another big improvement, from the first scouting mission, the poltergeist ghast will now occasionally taunt, scare and mess with your gadgets. This enriches the immersion, randomness and even the occasional wtf moment ;)

• New veteran scouting mission.
• Ghast now randomly messes with player (interference,etc) in all scouting jobs.
• Spiderlings can now appear from various furniture.
• Sprinting on carpet with shoes/boots is more distinct now.
• Trees & airer now animate dynamically with the wind (using built-in vertex animation at no performance cost)

• Fixed cutscene balloons positioning issues on some aspect ratios.
• Fixed edges of screen issues on some aspect ratios.
• Fixed player getting thrown through locked doors.
• Fixed throwing while shooting, didn't trigger animation properly.
• Fixed cluster grenade description for clarity.
• Fixed blackjack messaging when out of cash.
• Fixed hazmat boots using shoe sounds.
• Fixed mismatching gas utility labels.
• Fixed "aluminium" spelling in one of the revolvers.
• Fixed rare issue with couple tiny items can sometimes glimpse through walls.
• Fixed rare issue with a loose cloth clipping master bedroom's closet.
• Fixed rare issue with small bedroom corpse leaning instead of resting.
• Fixed rare issue with overlapping paintings in entrance.

HellSign v1.0.0.3 Update

Greetings hunters.

For this update, we know you all just *love* crawlers. ;)
So we’ve fixed the issue where it would sometimes do a 180º snap to your dodge direction.
(Note that you still need to correctly time the dodge, as seen in the video below)

As mention in our roadmap, this is the first of many combat improvements to come, stay tuned :)

• Fixed issue with crawler insta-snapping to dodge direction.
• Fixed bar songs volumes were mismatched, causing some to be too loud.
• Fixed parabolic mic cursor and journal bug.
• Fixed bug allowing player to 'pickup' summoning circle.
• Fixed bug where crafting recipes duplicate signs. (note, any existing signs in the crafting recipe slots might act strangely, unfortunately no way around it).

• Reinforced the game loop of retreating mid-missions through dialogue.
• Added ability to resize cursor from settings.

Visuals & misc
• Fixed mistype in nock volley gun descriptions saying 9 barrels instead of 7.
• Fixed audiophile & perception skill descriptions, they were mixed up.

  • Tricks of the trade

    Start your journey with a flickering torch, rusty gun and a whole lot of guts. Complete jobs to develop your skills and learn more about the monsters that haunt the night. Develop your character and build your arsenal through a detailed RPG and job system. Become an elite hunter and get your revenge.

  • Choose your contracts

    There are all manner of creatures prowling the streets, from ghosts to hellhounds, monstrous spiders and demons. Which order you take your contracts is up to you, but each monster you slay brings you closer to unearthing the dark truth.

  • Hunt, or be hunted

    How you clear the town is up to you. You can go in guns blazing and let your shotgun do the talking, or you can plan and research your targets to use their weaknesses against them.

  • Study your prey

    As a hunter, knowledge is one of your greatest weapons. By reading your environment and uncovering the weaknesses of the creatures you're hunting, you can make it a little easier to slay them. The Cryptonomicon is your hunter guidebook, tracking the creatures you’ve slain and the clues you’ve collected.

  • Use your tools

    From shotguns and booby traps, to silver nitrate rounds and high tech gadgets - there are many tools in your arsenal that can help you fight the darkness. Choosing what to bring with you, and when to use it can be the difference between victory and a grizzly defeat.
