What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We aim to build Taphouse VR to be the perfect drunken dwarf bar simulator for virtual reality. With the valuable feedback provided by the community we can succeed in our goal - over time, we will be adding new taverns, drink recipes and an even crazier cast of dwarves into the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming early 2018 for the full release, depending mostly on your feedback and support.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We've got a great roadmap lined up with fun content, including more minigames for the bar. Basically, the more community feedback we get, the more we can slap into the game. Some planned features include new locations to bartend in, new drinks and more recipes to mix.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game includes four different taverns with varying difficulty and a really awesome cast of drunk dwarves to interact with. The dwarves drink, get drunk, fight and order recipes. There's two game modes in each tavern - Normal and Sandbox. The Normal mode is a timed mode where you need to make the most money and get a rating. In Sandbox, it's like an endless mode. Most of the content is implemented so the Early Access period is for spit shine polish and gathering your thoughts on the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No - the game will remain free. More paid content down the line is planned depending on how you like the experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have already added female dwarves, harder taverns and a lot of bug fixes thanks to all of you! Keep in touch with us in the Steam Community forums - we'll take your feedback and apply it as best we can. We have some really cool stuff to show you from Taphouse VR as we make more content, but we'll implement features and improvements the community wants to the best of our ability.”

Catland announces The Spy Who Shrunk Me! Wishlist today on Steam!

Welcome to The Spy Who Shrunk Me, our next game coming to PC & VR 2018!

Watch the announcement trailer!

Moscow, 1981. Agent Audrey Smoothspy is sent on a mission that is about to turn the Cold War into a fiery one. Steal a Soviet shrink ray, nab some banana peels and get to work - the future of the free world depends on your skills of stealth and subterfuge. Coming to PC and VR on Steam 2018.

It's a stealth game where you get to shrink your enemies and drop them down paper shredders - use your sneaking skills to get past enemies or to eliminate them. The narrative adventure takes you to Moscow, onboard a train and into the depths of a secret facility. Your mission is to find out what the dreaded general Boris B. Bolscotchkovich is planning - your weapons are airbag mines, banana peels and the capability to shrink enemies and yourself!

It's both PC & VR this time. Don't worry, since we're virtual reality veterans from Taphouse VR we know just how you want to play this in VR - full motion controller support, all major headsets, feature parity. We got you. I'd almost argue the game is way better in VR because you will truly fear getting stomped by enemy guards.

We're so excited for you to get to experience the game we've poured our hearts into. Feel free to follow our Steam Developer Page and Twitter to get the scoop on the game.

You can wishlist and follow the game on Steam right now!

All the best from all of us,
Tomi Toikka

Catland turns one year old! It has been an amazing journey full of surprises, twists and turns. But the most important thing is.

You're here!

Our wonderful fans. Because of your wonderful reviews, videos and comments about Taphouse VR, we have secured our funding to continue doing great stuff.

We want to keep doing these weird games for you guys. Starting with our yet-to-be-announced spy adventure coming this year, we're doing both PC and VR for all Catland games.

Why both PC and VR?
You have probably seen those Steam charts showing what kind of a market we're being given currently in the virtual reality space:
  • Sales and playtime are getting poor across the board, with new titles hardly getting any playtime (Taphouse VR being a surprising exception, we're tracking record numbers even still - some of you truly love Taphouse!)
  • Stagnated hardware market - we're still waiting on those Knuckles so we can make you break glasses in your hand by squeezing too hard. Volvo pls send us those things.
  • Generally a lesser interest with investors for pure VR companies, which makes it really hard to do just virtual reality.
On the flip side...
  • We're still in the very infancy of VR tech. So given time, we're getting better technology from leading hardware manufacturers.
  • We are seeing a lot more public interest in VR (thanks, Ready Player One!) thus increasing interest in developing more for it.
  • You guys are definitely showing that you love VR, you want to play and experience VR and you definitely want more VR.

So we're doing both. Don't worry - neither side will lose attention on this. The games will be wonderful in PC and even more immersive and wonderful in VR. So whether you like pancake mode or strapping on a headset, we'll have something for both sides.

And Taphouse VR. We made the base game in just four months and managed to cram many, many content updates in it. We want to bring this game out of Early Access by the end of the year with a huge content update. As always, stay tuned.

We will strive to always do the best virtual reality experiences you've known to love. Our next game will be for both PC and VR. We're bringing Taphouse VR out of Early Access this year with a huge content update!

And now a sneak peek!
You know we've been working really hard on our next project right? It's been under the wraps for a long time. Some of you might have seen the work-in-progress footage in Taphouse VR even! I'll reveal just a little bit more until we're ready to announce the game proper. It's taking it's sweet time because we want to do this right. Here goes...

This is Audrey Smoothspy. She is a superspy armed with a shrink ray. She is the hero of our next game coming this year to PC and VR.

And that's it for now.

Follow the Catland developer page on Steam to be the first to know more.

All the best all the way & stay crazy,
Tomi Toikka

About This Game

In Taphouse VR, you are the bartender! Pour glasses, mugs and shots of all kinds of beverages to thirsty dwarves. Mix and match recipes to make drinks that dazzle your patrons. Be careful with your customers - some will get angry if served the wrong thing or if you take your time. Get ready to break up some fights as well! With an exciting cast of drunk dwarves and a cast of lovely drinking holes to work in you'll get to experience what it truly feels like to be a tavernkeep. And when your mind starts to wander, play the slot machine or throw out some troublemakers!

  • 🍺 Use your motion controllers to pour drinks to glasses, operate the taps and to send away customers too drunk to stand!
  • 🍷 All kinds of drinks like tap beer, rum, long drink, cola, milk, energy drinks, vodka and more to pour for your thirsty customers!
  • 🍹 Make recipe drinks to earn more tips - Cuba Libre, Tequila Sunrise, White Russian...we've got quite the collection!
  • 🥂 Mess around the counter with plenty of stuff to fiddle with, including your paying patrons!
  • 💲 Earn gold by being fast, efficient and careful when serving - spend your hard earned extra coins on the slot machine and win big!
  • 🤔 Intelligent drunkard AI knows to start fights, argue over the slot machines and drink until they pass out!
  • 👌 Two game modes: do a real shift in Bartender Mode or go with Sandbox Mode if you feel like playing around (or showing off)!

Note: While Taphouse VR is a perfect entry point for VR, we highly recommend it for older audiences. There's lots of alcohol, dwarves passing out and even some mild fisticuffs about - VR responsibly.
