What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Inspired by action figure playing in our childhoods, we developed a real time squad combat game - Dog Duty. Our goal is to develop a uncomplicated, fun, fast-paced game.

So, why Early Access?
We've been working on this mission for 3 years, as a side project. We've tested a LOT of different mechanics, and still, there is always plenty of ideas and fun things to add.

While we're under some kind of loop, we're seeking help from players to narrow the things down. To get clear on what matters most, and focus to finish the game on it's best shape.

WARNING: Bugs of all sorts may happen on earliest versions!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We don't have a specific time frame, but we're initially looking to keep the Early Access for 3 months. But only time will tell.
(Update, up to July 2018, max. Doing our best!)”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The first early access version contains:
-the intro level, and the desert world section
-4 soldiers to your squad, and some gear

The full version will get:
-the swamp and sea sections
-2 new soldiers to rescue
-more gear for your squad
-a final level”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It contains the desert level of the game to play. It's a brief play, but have all the key gameplay mechanics on it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It's possible that the price may change during Early Access, and before releasing. Not planned, but, it's a possibility.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our mission is to conclude the game development, while keeping it simple, friction-less, "high speed, low drag". Player feedback will be key to help us achieve this goal.

We will be present on the forums, interacting with the community, and posting regular updates.

Be a member of the Evil Octopus Army, to achieve higher glory!”

The Soundtrack Update

In 4 years of development, Dog Duty evolved from a simple base-defense game to a simplified-open-world-guerrilla-simulator. To reinforce the current game, the Soundtrack Update is on.

There's also some things to note:

-There's a new bug report tool. Located on the MainMenu, It sends your game files to us. It's great for reporting issues with save files, and believe me, save files with issues are gold here.

-Achievements to the game! We're still testing... but they should be 100% sure working in a week of testing.

-We're working hard to finish game on July, on the max. The Final Boss is coded and fully functional, but, it's temporarily disabled, until I work on the game finishing.

There's also a lot of bug fixes and other additions.
As always, please share your opinions, thoughts and bug reports on the forums! Thank you all very, very much, on supporting Dog Duty!

The voice update

There's a new update, with a lot of fixes and additions, but the most noticeable update will be on the audio.

Now Kilmer and Paula character features it's own voices. The radio effect also got some work, and we would love to hear what you guys think.

There's a test-purpose-option to enable the original audio voices, among other little things.

There's one thing that dont got into the update: the Capital, and it's Final Battle. It's taking a little longer than expected to finish, but we're taking care to script everything right (the game ending as well).

The next update, of course, will be the Capital Update, and we hope to have it done as soon as possible.
