What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Shapelab has reached and exceeded a development stage and can now be used for 3D sculpting high-quality objects. In this early-access stage, we have been continuously working on improvements in stability and performance, and we have added numerous new features, but there is still more to come!

Our dedicated team is full of awesome ideas and plans. Still, we believe that keeping the community involved in the roadmap planning process is a must if our goal is to design a well-polished, fun, and useful application! That is why we appreciate anyone who is willing to test this early-access version and leave us their feedback - we have been collecting reviews and requests from our testers for years, which led to the development of a stable application that has no critical issues today. Sill, we always welcome feedback and we are grateful for our early-access users for using and testing the app in its current state.

Come and explore this exciting uncharted territory with us, and we’ll make amazing digital creation tools and virtual worlds together! We appreciate any feedback you can share with us, so we can tailor the next steps of development to be in line with the needs and ideas of our users.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“Our development roadmap is divided into phases. We introduced significant improvements back in 2020 and 2021, and we are approaching the full version release, which is planned for early 2023! This is a huge milestone, but we will of course keep updating Shapelab, and we will bring new features even after the full version is released.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Some of the features and tools we implemented during the early access stage are new brushes and brush modifiers, performance and UX improvements, multi-object handling, and boolean operations.

Shapelab is now a robust application that can handle millions of polygons, but we will continue to work on stability and performance, and the full version will also include new features such as subdivision levels, quad remesh, and highly anticipated features and UX improvements, that we are planning to implement step by step.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Polygon mesh-based VR sculpting application, with many professional features already included to design high-quality 3D models.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price as we put more and more features into Shapelab. We think this is a fair way to thank all the early adopters for their valuable contribution and finance a fragment of our development costs at the same time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We would like to collect as much feedback and ideas as possible through the Steam platform and on Discord, via email, and face-to-face at events and shows. This way, the user community can directly contribute to the development and growth of Shapelab!

About This Software

Shapelab is a highly efficient 3D sculpting application optimized for virtual reality devices. Shapelab takes advantage of VR technology to provide an immersive and intuitive interface that allows you to sculpt in 3D space, giving you a new level of control and creative freedom over your designs. With Shapelab, you can easily create organic shapes, from simple forms to complex designs. Visualize your creative ideas and print them in 3D or sculpt high-quality props, characters, and concepts for applications, games, and virtual worlds, as well as digital concept art and storyboards.

Using virtual reality for 3D modeling offers numerous advantages. It allows you to work with your creations in a more natural way as if they were physical objects right in front of you. This provides a level of immersion and depth that is simply not possible with traditional 2D modeling tools. Additionally, virtual reality modeling can increase productivity, as it allows you to work faster and more efficiently, even with greater precision in certain cases.

Shapelab’s usage of polygons instead of voxels makes it stand out in the creative VR tools market. Polygonal mesh modeling gives you the ability to sculpt stunning, well-detailed, and realistic 3D assets and allows users to import and edit large and complex 3D scans. With Shapelab's dynamic topology mode and support for industry-standard features, you can create detailed models with ease.
