What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is already playable. The open world, looting, combat, base building, day and night, the weather and the hell manholes all work. We want to keep building it together with the players. Your feedback helps decide what comes next and how difficulty and balance should feel.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect around six to eight months. How long it takes in the end depends on how the game develops with your feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version should have more content and more polish. Some ideas we have:
- more options for hunting
- more furniture and fortifications for your base
- traits and skills for the main characters
- more languages and better gamepad support
- original music, Steam achievements and cloud saves
What makes it in and in which order depends on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Already playable: a large open world with towns, villages, different landscapes and animals. You can loot, fight in melee and at range and sneak, and noise attracts zombies. There are manhole nests and glowing hell manholes, base building with palisades, gates, watchtowers and furniture, residents with needs and jobs, attacks on your base, traders, quests and outposts, day and night, changing weather, and saving and loading. The game is available in English and German. Bugs can still happen, and we keep improving balance and performance.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may go up a little for the full release. If you join now in Early Access, you pay less.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and right from the game. In the main menu there is a small zombie bug you can click to report problems. We read everything, collect wishes and bugs, release regular updates with patch notes and plan the next steps based on your feedback.”

About This Game

Three escaped the horde. Now they start over.

The horde has overrun every city. Only Aichie, Katrin and Andreas made it out of the last one, all the way to a campfire in the woods. That is where they decide to build something.

We Are The Survivors is a top-down zombie survival game in pixel art. Lead a small group of survivors through a large, seamless world and build a camp, piece by piece, that can make it through the night.

What to expect

  • Open world: Abandoned towns and villages, forests and fields. Search houses, cars and shops for food, medicine, ammo and materials.
  • Manhole nests: Zombies climb out of manholes in the streets. Seal them to clear a town. Some burst open at night and turn into glowing hell manholes.
  • Your camp: Build palisades, gates, watchtowers and furniture. Residents eat, sleep, work and help defend the camp.
  • Main characters and residents: You play the main characters, residents follow you. Those who prove themselves can become main characters too.
  • Day, night and weather: At night you only see what your flashlight and the fire light up, and more zombies are out. Sun, fog, rain and thunderstorms come and go.
  • Noise: Every shot attracts zombies. Sneak or fight your way through, it is up to you.

Early Access

The game is playable and still in development. We are happy about any feedback and bug reports. The easiest way is the little zombie bug in the main menu.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Top-down pixel-art violence: characters fight zombies, bandits and wild animals with melee weapons, guns and Molotov cocktails, with small blood splatters. Companions can die permanently. No realistic gore.
