About This Game

Blood & Ledger is a strategy game about one family, generation after generation, in a made-up American port city from 1920 to 2000.

You don't run an empire or an army. You play one person. They grow old, make friends and enemies, have children, and one day they die. Then you carry on as their heir, with whatever they left behind: money, a name, debts and secrets.

Do it your way

Nobody tells you what to do. You can hold a neighborhood through fear, buy up its shops one by one, get elected to the city council or join the police. And it all mixes: a crime boss can own a laundry, pay off a detective and get his son into city hall.

Nothing comes free

Everything takes weeks or months and costs something: money, a favor, your reputation. Hand a job to someone and they might pull it off, mess it up, say no, or sell you out. Secrets get sold, rumors twist everything, and grudges pass from parents to children.

A city that doesn't wait for you

The people of Port Aldrich have their own plans and every option you have. They team up, marry, double-cross and get even, whether you're watching or not. You only know what your informants, the papers and the talk at the bar tell you.

The years go by

Prohibition, the Crash, the war, television, wiretaps: the laws and the rackets change with every decade. Your grandchildren won't live in the same city you did.

When it's over

The game hands you your family's story: what the papers said, and what really happened.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We used AI tools while making this game. The illustrations, city maps, interface pieces and the base faces for portraits were made with Google's Flow image generator, then picked and touched up by us. The game's text was written and translated with help from an AI (Claude), then reread by us. The music was composed with Suno, an AI tool, then picked by us. Nothing is generated by AI while you play: portraits are put together by the game's own code from those base faces, and the family chronicle is filled in from templates we wrote.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Blood & Ledger is about organized crime, corruption and family. Murders, beatings, kidnappings, threats, blackmail and gang wars happen, and other families can do them to you: you get a letter or a scene and choose how to answer. All of this is told in text and shown in painted pictures, with no close-up gore. Torture can be used during an interrogation; it is mentioned, never shown. Alcohol (Prohibition), drug trafficking, illegal gambling and affairs are part of the story, and suicides are mentioned after the 1929 crash. Marriages between close relatives are possible but the game strongly discourages them. There is no nudity and no sex scene.
