About This Software

Recolor your sprites into any palette, in bulk

ColorCraft is a desktop recoloring and palette tool for pixel artists, asset creators, and game developers. Try a new mood for a tileset, create team colors, or build elemental and rarity variants from existing artwork. Work on one sprite or process a whole asset folder against multiple palettes.

Keep control of your colors

  • Shade-preserving recoloring: Map color ramps in dark-to-light order to help preserve the shading in your artwork.
  • Live previews: Compare original and recolored artwork before running a batch, with split, comparison, full, and grid views.
  • Protected colors: Keep selected colors unchanged, target specific colors, or adjust individual mappings manually.
  • Color matching and dithering: Choose matching methods including Oklab, CIEDE2000, Redmean, luminance, and structural SOM, with multiple dithering options.

Build variations across your asset library

  • Batch processing: Apply multiple palettes to image folders with configurable output naming and a summary before processing.
  • Variant Generator: Generate sets of 4 to 16 color variants for characters, equipment, or other sprites, with controls for protected colors.
  • Palette tools: Import palettes, extract colors from reference images, generate color harmonies and ramps, and organize favorite palettes.
  • Lospec integration: Search and download palettes from inside the app. Online features require an internet connection.

Fit recoloring into your workflow

  • Work with PNG, JPG, WebP, and supported Aseprite files.
  • Preview spritesheets and Aseprite animations, and export supported animation workflows as animated GIFs.
  • Export PNG, JPG, WebP, and Aseprite files according to the selected workflow.
  • Save workflow presets and use Live Link to refresh work as files change.
  • Use command-line tools for batch processing and automated asset pipelines.
  • Generate companion import files for Godot and Unity workflows.

A focused tool for your existing artwork

ColorCraft works alongside your drawing and animation tools. Import your artwork, choose a palette, adjust the result, and export your variations. The full edition includes unrestricted batch processing and watermark-free exports.

The Steam edition is available for 64-bit Windows, with an English interface. A Java runtime is included. Mouse and keyboard are required.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI assistance was used to draft Steam store copy and accompanying help documentation. ColorCraft processes imported artwork using local palette-mapping and image-processing algorithms. It does not use live generative AI or connect to third-party AI services during use.
