About This Software

Lutrin is a workshop for writing gamebooks. You don’t write chapters: you write double pages, the spread the reader sees when the book lies open.

Shape the story before the pages
• An outline in acts and scenes, story threads running through the book, a bible of characters, places and objects.
• Promises to the reader (“arriving here, they always carry the key”), checked by Lutrin against the whole book at every keystroke.

Write and connect
• A map of every choice: missing branches and dead ends show at a glance.
• Doors that open only if the reader carries an item or meets a threshold, dice rolls, fights with a bestiary.
• A character sheet you build yourself: stats, gauges, equipment, spells, notes.
• A panel that always shows what is broken and what is left to write.
• A status for each page: written, sketched, to do, abandoned.

Read and build
• “Read”: play your own book as a reader, with save slots.
• Your own illustrations, or images generated through ComfyUI if you have it installed (not included).
• The finished book as a website, a single file, a Windows application or a print-ready book.
• Interface and books in English and French.

A sample book is included: Le Phare de Kerloc’h.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Lutrin was developed with the assistance of an AI assistant, under the direction of its author, who specified, reviewed and tested the work: code, interface text, manual and the prose of the example book. The example book's illustrations, the welcome image and the workshop backgrounds were generated with Stable Diffusion XL, locally, then chosen one by one.

As an option, off by default, Lutrin can illustrate your book by sending prompts to ComfyUI, if you installed it yourself on your machine. Lutrin ships no model and connects to no online service: the images stay on your disk.
