About This Game

Make the towns

In the territory days, wrestlers didn't sign with one company. They loaded up the car and worked the circuit, town to town, promoter to promoter. They called it making the towns.

Making the Towns is a deck-building roguelite about that life. Wash out of your wrestling school entry exam, pick your wrestler, and work your way up across 26 promotions, building a deck, a reputation, and a run that can carry you to the main event.

Momentum wins matches

Every match is a fight for the crowd. Each card you play pushes a shared momentum bar your way. Chain strikes, throws, grapples, aerials, and submissions into combos, time your reversals, and set up your finisher. When the crowd is yours, go for the pin.

Every opponent shows their hand

Opponents telegraph their next move, and every wrestler fights by their own rule. Read what's coming, bank for a reversal, and steal the match back.

Build your run

  • Five playable wrestlers, each with their own style and card set
  • 450 cards to collect across Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic rarities
  • 12 managers and 46 tricks that stack and compound across a run
  • Beat a wrestler and their signature cards join your pool for good

Life on the road

It's 1983. Sign with a promotion, work its card, win its title, and move up. Cut promos, hire a manager, and climb five tiers across 26 promotions and 153 wrestlers, all the way into the 90s.

Bold pixel art and a 16-bit soundtrack

Big, chunky arcade sprites and music straight out of a Saturday morning in 1993.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Making the Towns was made with generative AI tools. The pixel art, music, and game code were created with AI under the direction of a solo developer, who designed the game, its cards, wrestlers, and promotions, and tuned every system by hand. Nothing is generated while you play: every card, wrestler, and match event in the game was created ahead of time and reviewed before release.
