What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Horror Defense is playable now, and Early Access will let players share feedback while we continue improving the game. We want to refine cooperative play, combat balance, and the overall experience with feedback from people playing real matches.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last approximately three months to one year, depending on how development progresses and the feedback we receive. This is an estimate and may change.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to improve the game’s main art style, refining the overall visual presentation as development continues. Player feedback will help guide these improvements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes solo play and online cooperative play for up to four players using direct IP connections. Players defend a house against waves of zombies and goblins, buy weapons and ammunition, build turrets powered by generators, and revive teammates. Map Maker lets players create custom maps with enemy paths, zombie spawn points, five landscape themes, and bridges or walkways across rivers and lava. The game is still in active development, and multiplayer stability, balance, and polish are being improved.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to keep the price the same during Early Access and at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can share suggestions and report issues through the Steam Discussions for Horror Defense. We will use this feedback to help guide development and improvements.”

About This Game

Hold the line

Horror Defense combines top-down shooting with tower defense. Goblins follow the battlefield paths toward your house while zombies chase the players. Shoot, build defenses, and survive increasingly dangerous waves.

Build your defenses

Spend points on turrets, weapons, ammunition, and perks. Generators provide shared power capacity for your defenses, so plan your purchases and keep the house protected.

Fight together

Play solo or team up with up to four players in online co-op. Choose a survivor with a distinct ability, prepare in the lobby, and revive downed teammates. Online games currently use direct IP joining.

Create your battlefield

Map Maker lets you build custom levels, draw goblin routes, place zombie spawn points, and choose forest, farm, river, lava, or desert landscapes. Use bridges and walkable paths to cross rivers and lava. Save your maps and load them for another run.

Features

  • Top-down shooting and turret-based defense.
  • Singleplayer and online co-op for up to four players.
  • Four playable survivors with distinct abilities.
  • Weapon and ammunition shops, generators, turrets, and perks.
  • Increasing enemy health across later rounds.
  • A built-in editor for custom maps and enemy routes.
