About This Game

A Trader’s Sketchbook is a hand-drawn roguelike where you trade liquidity in a sketchbook, using cards to print candles to avoid aggressive margin calls. You are a trader against rival traders and yourself, armed with bots, consumables, and a deck of non-standard playing cards that casually violate reality laws.

YOUR FELLOW TRADERS (ALSO KNOWN AS "LIQUIDITY")

You do not trade alone. You share the queue with market participants who bring real money, fragile egos, and deeply flawed trading philosophies to the table:

  • Stoploss Stan (Panic Retail): Sets ultra-tight stop losses and begins sweating visibly the moment a candle wicks within five cents of their position. One sharp move sends them to liquidation.

  • Diamond Hands (Hype Trader): Convinced every catastrophic 80% market collapse is merely "a healthy dip before the moonshot." Refuses to cut losses until the margin call removes them.

  • The Quant Algo: A cold, emotionless execution model calculating probability matrices at microsecond speeds—until a Werecard violates the laws of mathematics, causing its risk engine to have an existential crisis.

Watch their hand-drawn avatars sweat, panic, and bark in real-time as your candles sweep through their stops. Remember: your profits have to come from somewhere.

MUTATE YOUR CARDS (LEGALLY QUESTIONABLE BUT EXTREMELY PROFITABLE)

  • The Werecard: The self-proclaimed "Wolf of a Street no one knows." Shreds the lowest-value cards in your hand to summon its pack, insisting to Compliance that this is merely "aggressive portfolio rebalancing." (Claims the SEC has no regulatory jurisdiction during a Full Moon).

  • The Possessed Card: Liquid ink that frantically shifts suits every round due to chronic identity fraud and an active tax warrant somewhere.

  • The Underdog: An optimistic Two of Clubs genuinely convinced that this is the fiscal quarter it outperforms a King.

ALGORITHMIC BOTS & CONSUMABLES

When human judgment fails, deploy trading bots and consumables engineered with loose screws and zero conscience (an asset in the financial world):

  • Grave Robber Bot: Robs the wealthy Kings and Queens in the Graveyard each time you access it, returning with cash.

  • Hunter Bot: An over-caffeinated execution algorithm that hunts stop losses with extreme prejudice.

  • Recycle Bot: A machine that took the term "paper trading" far too literally—turns your unwanted cards into fresh retail stop losses on the chart (also a close friend of the Hunter).

  • The Necromancer: An unlicensed broker performing back-alley necromancy because "an asset is an asset, even six feet under."(Little do they know, these assets don't always return normal...)

  • Emergency Bailout: Grants an immediate cash lifeline, paired with a debt named Loan that literally follows you home.

  • The Other Way: Inverts the direction of the market out of petty spite against trend followers.

NARRATIVE INCIDENTS & MORAL DILEMMAS

Between trading sessions, take part in narrative dilemmas where your moral flexibility is tested, making high-stakes choices that permanently alter the world state.

KEY FEATURES

  • Every Stroke Drawn by Hand: Every card and character was hand-drawn stroke by stroke on a pen tablet, then brought to life as living vector ink. The smudges are pure math. No generative AI. Just one very tired hand.

  • Deep Roguelike Synergies: Stack hands, multiplier wicks, and bizarre modifiers to generate millions in profits—if you can make it that far.

  • Predatory Institutional Bosses: Go toe-to-toe with market titans like The Whale, The Manipulator, The Fed, and The Reaper(<nobody invited the Reaper. It says it's here to collect.>)

And that is merely what the firm cleared for public disclosure.
Oh, and one more thing:

Respect the market even though it has none for you.

And never ask what ink The Possessed is written in.

...We look forward to working with you.
