About This Game

Last Haul is a mining roguelite in open 2D space. You fly a really small spaceship and mine asteroids with a laser that is also your gun. Tow the crystals home to a wormhole that turns them into upgrades. But mining brings the enemies. Every zone ends on a boss fight. Lose your ship and the run is over, but your scrap stays for permanent upgrades.

The free playtest has the tutorial and the first 3 zones. The full game is planned to have 20 zones.

Your laser is your pickaxe and your gun. The more you mine, the faster the enemies come.

Tow a whole chain of crystals behind you. Your home is a wormhole, and it pays for every crystal it eats.

Spend your haul in the middle of the run. A bigger gun now, or a richer haul later?

Each zone gives you a job. Finish it, and the boss comes out.

  • Mine a quota

  • Shut down the hive bases before their wave launches

  • No timer: every asteroid you mine brings the next wave closer

Later zones: burn the moss, take down the factories, or mine a field dry, and its worm comes for you.

Every zone ends on a boss fight, and every boss fights its own way.

Things happen mid-run: meteor rain, a crystal current, an enemy base, a giant asteroid. Feed a black hole and it pays double for every crystal. Get clear before it blows.

When your ship is destroyed, the run ends, but your progress doesn't. Runs earn something you keep, even the ones you lose. Spend it on permanent upgrades, new weapons, ships and modules.

  • All 20 zones, each with its own objective and its own boss

  • More weapons, ships and modules, each changing how you play

  • More random events

  • Endless mode?

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We're a small team and we used AI tools in a few places, and we'd rather be upfront about it. Some enemy and background art started as AI-generated images, which we then resized and reworked by hand. Our music and sound effects were made by a composer and sound designer we hired but some effects and music were synthesized in code written with the help of Claude, with a few samples from free online libraries. The translations of the game and this store page were drafted with AI; the Polish ones were checked by us. We also used AI coding assistants while programming.
