About This Game

A Country Named Hunger is a turn-based role playing game about surviving after the end of the world.

You lead a company of road mercenaries. You travel between settlements, take paid jobs, and fight anyone who stands in your way. Every day costs money and food. The world has no future, but you struggle on. 

Fight in turn-based battles

Each battle takes place on a grid. Every survivor gets a set number of action points each turn. Use them to move, attack, reload, or take cover behind wrecked cars and walls. Hit chance, armor, and morale all matter. When a survivor dies, they are gone for good.

Build your company

Hire up to 12 survivors for your fighting line, with 12 more waiting in reserve. Each one has their own skills, background, and strengths. Level them up, pick perks, and give them better gear. When someone falls in battle, call a reserve fighter in to take their place.

Know your enemies

• Zroids: The dead, brought back and fused with machine parts by a hidden AGI. They can think. They are organized. But their goals are inscrutable. 

• Feral Zombies: The old kind of dead. Slow and weak alone, but dangerous in large groups. 

• Raiders: Bandits who only attack when they think they can win. They raid settlements and caravans. 

• The Cordon: What is left of the federal government. They’ve re-established control over many of the survivor settlements. Stay on their good side, or they will hunt you down.

Choose your path

Take honest jobs and earn the Cordon's trust for better prices. Or rob the trade wagons that travel between towns. You can even attack a settlement itself for a huge payday. Every choice has a cost.

Watch your supplies

Keep track of food, tools, and your ammo. Each gun needs its own kind. Run out in the middle of a fight, and you are down to close-quarters weapons.
