What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core gameplay loop of Bored to Depth is playable, but we don't consider the game finished. There are still features and mechanics we want to expand, systems that could benefit from further development, and design decisions that we'd like to make with input from the community rather than in isolation.

Community feedback will play an important role in deciding what to prioritize and how the game evolves. We want players to have a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of development, suggest new ideas, and help shape the final version.

Early Access gives us the opportunity to develop Bored to Depth alongside its players, rather than waiting until all major decisions have already been made.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Plan is to gather enough feedback and implement enough features so the full release will be ... less boring. This might roughly take a year.

That time is planned for expanding content, improving systems, refining balance, and responding to player feedback. The exact duration may change depending on how development and community feedback evolves.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Full Version: Less Boring, More Depth

The full version of Bored to Depth aims to be, well... less boring.

The core gameplay loop is already in place, but there's still plenty of room to grow. We plan to introduce new features and mechanics, improve performance, and give the game the polishing and balancing it deserves. We're also looking into adding Steam achievements.

On the visual side, we plan to replace the current graphics with new assets and introduce multiple UI themes, so you can give the game a fresh look whenever you feel like it.

We want your ideas to help shape its future. We can't promise to implement everything, but we'd love to turn your suggestions into actual features wherever possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of Bored to Depth features a fully playable core gameplay loop, with all main mechanics implemented.

Players can experience the main gameplay as described in the About This Game section of the store page. The current version is playable from start to finish, although game balance, performance, and overall polish are still being improved.

Further development will focus on refining existing mechanics, improving performance, and expanding the game with additional features based on development priorities and community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to change the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want the community to be more than just an audience; we want players to help shape the future of Bored to Depth.

We'll gather feedback, suggestions, and bug reports through Steam discussions and community channels, using them to identify problems, prioritize improvements, and explore new features. We'll also pay attention to how players approach the game and which mechanics they enjoy most, using that feedback to guide balancing and further development.

We can't promise to implement every suggestion, but we'll consider community ideas alongside our own plans and aim to incorporate the ones that best fit the game's direction. Our goal is to make Bored to Depth better together with the people who play it.”

About This Game

NOW HIRING: Independent Mining Pilot

Immediate start. Mining pod provided. No experience necessary. Survival not guaranteed.

The Company is accepting applications for a hands-on, deeply underground role piloting a company-issued mining pod through procedurally generated terrain of unknown depth and occasionally unknown structural integrity. This is a field position. The field is beneath you, and it keeps going.

Duties

  • Operate mining pod to extract any valuables beneath surface

  • Identify and avoid hazards

  • Extend mining infrastructure to support deeper operations

  • Maintain positive cash flow through trade at the Boring House

Requirements

  • Your own pod will be issued (upgrades available, cost deducted from earnings)

  • Comfort operating in enclosed, dark, occasionally molten environments

  • Tolerance for duct tape instead of permanent fixes

  • Ability to read (optional)

Compensation & benefits

  • Performance-based pay via the market

  • Optional equity in Sinkhole Savings, the Company's own investment fund

  • Rescue service available to all active employees for a standard fee

Additional notes
Successful candidates will accumulate achievements over the course of employment. HR will also relay no fewer than 113 facts of negligible operational value, at unpredictable intervals, whether requested or not.

Apply by descending. The Company is an equal-opportunity employer in the sense that the depths do not discriminate.

    • Processor: 2.0 GHz
